Overview
Speed Gadgets gives you a set of gadgets for displaying your current traveling speed on your Android phone/tablet.
The gadgets included are a speedometer that displays the current speed in the notification area/status bar, a speedometer that displays the current speed as an overlay on top of another app and a speedometer that displays the current speed in a widget that can be added anywhere standard widgets can be placed. It also includes the ability to setup various warnings that will alert by voice, ringtone or vibration when you reach a customizable speed.
Status Bar Speedometer
The Status Bar Speedometer gadget will display the current speed in the notification area/status bar of the phone. This enables the speedometer to be displayed regardless of which app is currently running. This is very useful when using along with a navigation app (such as Google Maps Navigation) that doesn’t display the current speed.
Overlay Speedometer
This gadget will display the current speed as an overlay that is on-top of everything else. This enables the speedometer to be displayed regardless of which app is currently running. This is very useful when using along with a navigation app (such as Google Maps Navigation) that doesn't display the current speed.
The overlay is configured (by you) to only display when certain apps (determined by you) are active. For example, you can set the overlay to only display when Google Maps Navigation is active and otherwise have it hidden.
You also have control over position, size and whether the speed display type is visible. These settings are customizable for landscape/portrait and for each screen of each app on your phone.
Widget Speedometer
The Widget Speedometer gadget will display the current speed in one or more widgets that are placed anywhere standard widgets can be placed.

Took a bit of work uninstalling and reinstalling. Before finally getting overlay to start and stop properly.

The concept is good the functionality is horrible I had a hard time getting rid of the speedo had to uninstall I will try again later when they have a fix samsung galaxy s4 also it is a bit laggy I was unable to exit the overlay had to power cycle to get it to go away also had trouble closing Google Maps

Although the overlay works properly for showing speed, I am unable to use the configuration buttons. Any time I try to configure it, the screen touches are passed through to whatever app is behind the overlay. There is no way to exit the overlay and I must power-cycle the phone to get out of it.

But once I paid for the continued functionality, the app wants to verify the activation over the internet every time I launch it. This wouldn't be a problem except that I purchased the app specifically to use on an older Android device with no data connection that I use as a dedicated navigation device in my car. As the app exists, it is useless to me.
