La Fiesta Patronal de San Pedrito es la celebración religiosa más importante de todos los puertos y caletas del Perú, pero se desarrolla con mayor efusividad en la ciudad portuaria de Chimbote. Suele contar con actividades institucionales, es decir, organizados por la Municipalidad Provincial del Santa - Chimbote, Universidad Nacional del Santa, Universidad San Pedro, Universidad Los Ángeles de Chimbote, Universidad César Vallejo, INC Santa, asociaciones civiles, empresas y otros. Inicia con una misa de acción de gracias; pero el día central es donde la Diócesis de Chimbote realiza la Peregrinación en el Mar en la cual cientos de chimbotanos y visitantes abarrotan el muelle Gildemeister para subir a las embarcaciones que devotas, acompañan al patrón San Pedrito a su tradicional recorrido pesquero por la bahía e islas. Al regreso del santo porteño, se llevan a cabo misas en la Iglesia San Pedro, así como ferias artístico, culturales y gastronómicas en el centro de la ciudad y el Vivero Forestal.

It begins with a Mass of thanksgiving; but the main day is where the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chimbote performs the pilgrimage at Sea in which hundreds of chimbotanos and visitors throng the Gildemeister dock to board vessels devotees accompany the patron San Pedrito to its traditional fishing tour of the bay and islands. The return of Buenos Aires saint, are held Masses in St. Peter's Church, as well as artistic, cultural and gastronomic in the city center and the Forest Nursery fairs.
