Japanese don't separate On and Kun when reading. Please add option to merge On and Kun. Also, merged On and Kun is faster for review. Also, paid version needs Internet connection to run. Why? This causes the problem of when ever WiFi or Internet is disabled, app will give license error issues.

Awesome! Thank you so much for adding the keyboard search function!

This app works really well, and is full of very useful information and study tools. However, it's missing the crucial ability to learn kanji in a custom order instead of predefined JPLT or Joyo lists.

by M####:

I like the idea behind this app but don't want to study using it, instead I would like to find how a kanji is composed easily whenever I see one in my daily life... But there is no search function for kanji so is impossible to use this way..

Q70%
by Q####:

I really wish there was an option to quiz you on both the on-yomi and kun-yomi at the same time, instead of separately (like..both readings would be shown in one answer instead of having to take two separate drills..)

JLPTの漢字のレベルが選べた良かった!

The app really helps me learn and test my level in any way I desire. The feature where one evaluates his writing skills is also handy. I wonder, however, if you might consider adding a search option in the general menu that would return japanese exact and close matches for english words. All other things equal, your work is very much appreciated.

I want to say a big thankyou to the developers of this app. I was putting off learning kanji due to not knowing where to start but this app lets you sort and drill in groups of joyo or the nlpt levels. Gave me a great starting point and the drills etc are all great. The suggested words are also another great feature. Great app and well worth the small fee.

This is exactly what I've been looking for and couldn't find anywhere. As a N1 learner, all apps trained me in ALL 1k N1 kanji which is impossible to work with unless you're revising. Range selection comes in handy here. Radicals, quizzes, kanji recognition everything is extremely helpful. Can't get this anywhere for just £1.

This app is really great. Very useful for reviewing kanji. One thing only is that, it would be great if there is just an option to hide the on-kun in the flash card automatically without tapping the previous card to hide the on-kun meaning for the next card. I think it's time consuming if you have to tap again the meaning once you guessed it correctly instead of just proceeding immediately to the next card and the on-kun meaning is hidden automatically. Thanks.

If it's for the the OCR, it's not worth the money it asks. But here's what makes it a great study tool: 1. Handwriting recognition, 2. Drills by puzzle (my fav), multiple choice, and writing, 3. Fully operational Flashcards 4. Radical drills and help. Again....the only thing that crashed and burned was the below practicality level of the OCR, which is in great want of an upgrade. If they fix it, I'd give it 4stars(which is excellent) but there's always room for improvement. All in all, nice work. OCR though. ================================= So I got a biting reply to my review. The proper response to this review would have been "thanks for your input, we are working on the OCR to give you, the (legal) customer, a better experience. I feel my review benefits the people wanting to purchase this app, since reviews are for the PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER and not the developers. Note the praise I gave for your features and the encouragement I gave for future work. What a turn off. ps. the Handwritting recognition happens to fail too, but I overlooked it because this is such a good app.

The app itself is great and a great help. Sadly, it feels the need to phone home to check that you bought it, and if that check fails it doesn't warn you, it just resets your drill, doesn't recover it when you get connection again, and locks you to the first 80(?) kanji. I use it in a place with iffy data connections so this is a huge pain for me.

Pretty good, I hope you add feature to see character decomposition mid-drill. Also, there are a bug when if user answered multiple choice correctly, other wrong answer are still selectable. Other than that, this app deserve 5 stars. It aldo would be nice if there are back button to go back to previous, answered question for a bit to re-evaluate what user are trying to remember for the mistake or the kanji they forgot.

Please move the button (eye) to look at the last kanji in flash card at the bottom switching place with the button information (i) for one hand utilisation.. Would help a lot. Or give option to rearrange the interface button would be neat thanks you

The flash cards are highly customizable. The single character OCR is a life saver, even if it makes mistakes sometimes. I hope though that review decks can be created from the ocr so as to be able to manage several self-study sets and not just base it on the encore.

I've tried several Japanese learning apps, and I tend to come back to this one frequently due to some unique features. I really like the emphasis on the elements, and the way the breakdown is shown for kanjis during practice mode (I only wish it would also show the breakdown on the kanji via the handwriting entry - this breakdown lookup feature ideally should be available everywhere a kanji is visible). I also like the puzzle mode & the hinting method for drawing practice, which are unique features. So far I've not found the single kanji char recognition to be so good, but it doesn't matter to me. I would probably say this app is a must have for serious kanji learners.

This is the kanji app I've been looking for! Love that it breaks down kanji into bushu and radicals, makes learning them much easier. Lots of different modes to facilitate different learning styles. Bonus points for having a JLPT N5 free version. Tried it out for a day and it sold me on the full version. Only minus is that it seems to be portrait mode only, but that's pretty minor to me. Things I'd like to see in the future: being able to sort kanji by bushu, and a set that is just numbers and counters.

Downloaded this app about 20 minutes ago. It is very, very good at what it days it does. The fact that it breaks down radicals the way it does is amazing. I have not used the other features but this will defiantly help me get through basic Japanese and I can see it helping me learn 2000+ other characters. Will done developer. I will recommend to my classmates! PS. As I use it more I will update this post. I look forward to the picture recognition.

this could be a really great app except that I cannot use the puzzle section of the app as I am unable to move the elements around the grid, if this could be fixed it would be 5 stars no problem

This app is a God-send. Kanji has never been this easier to learn! Though, in addition to the writing drill, I think a quiz mode wherein you type the answer instead of choosing from a set of four would be amazing! When using the multiple choice, I sometimes catch myself guessing the meanings of kanji or vice versa, ultimately resulting in not being able to fully memorize too many characters (especially difficult ones)+their on-yomi/kun-yomi at a time. But other than that, I really love this app!

If it weren't for this app and their website I believe I would still be having trouble getting past intermediate level Japanese. The fact that this app is always improving impresses me a lot and I'm looking forward to future additions to come.

I'm just starting to learn Japanese and this is the best kanji app I've tried so far. The radicals part has helped me the most. Knowing the radicals is key to remembering the rest of the more complex kanji.
