Mantra Japamala

Mantra is a Sanskrit word. Man means "mind," and tra means "to deliver." Chanting means repetition of God’s Name. Thus, a mantra is a transcendental sound vibration with potency to liberate the mind from material conditioning.

In the Bhagavad-gita Krishna explains, "One who is not in transcendental consciousness can have neither a controlled mind nor steady intelligence, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?" By chanting the mantra, we can control the mind, instead of letting it control us.

Chanting brings us many medical, psychological and spiritual benefits. In initial stages of spiritual practice it may be difficult to recognise the benefits we derive from chanting. In later stages of spiritual practice by knowing the benefits of chanting we can restore faith after experienced them.
