Jams Music Player is a free, powerful and elegant open source music player.
Features:

Jams used to be a trial/paid app on the Play Store. Due to the lack of adequate free time of the developer and Google's new requirement for paid developers to publicly display their home address, he has decided that he can no longer provide the level of support and regular updates that paid users expect from a developer.
Rather than letting Jams completely die off, he has open sourced the app and hosted it on GitHub to encourage other developers to potentially improve it, use it in their own personal projects, and re-release it to users. He will still occasionally update this app based on his free time, but it will probably be beta quality code.
This is the compiled GitHub version. It's is the only good open source music player that I could find but nobody uploaded it to the PlayStore yet, except for a paid version. Due to a package name conflict, the name is now com.jams.music.player.de.repat. I don't do support.

It's difficult to write a positive review for an app that stops working everytime I go near the settings. It's open source so I want this to work. I'll keep it whilst I try other open source music players. The two stars I'll give for now might not be there for much longer though. Nexus 4 running Android 5.0

Crash when I go to settings

Terrible player. Crashes when I click ANYTHING in settings. Nothing shows up in Albums, Artists, etc. I _have_ to go to folders. It It doesn't respong well to quickly tapping Next a couple of times. It often crashes when simply tapping Next. It has no 'shuffle album/folder' option, If you have the queue open and tap next, the playlist jumps up to the 1st song (it does play the next song, however).
