About BCFF
Cancer statistics are staggering--American males have a 1 in 2 chance and females have a 1 in 3 chance of developing cancer in their lifetime (American Cancer Society Facts & Figures 2013). Breast Cancer Family Foundation is committed to reducing this risk by educating the youth and adults in our community on proven risk reduction strategies for all types of cancer. Approximately one-third of the most common cancers in the United States—over 374,000 cases every year—could be prevented just by making changes to our diet, weight and physical activity (World Cancer Research Fund International 2014).
The Breast Cancer Family Foundation (BCFF) was incorporated in 1999 as a 501(c)3 non-profit in Green Bay, Wisconsin. With an initial focus on women facing breast cancer and their families or caregivers, the BCFF has developed into the primary resource for providing education on cancer awareness and prevention to the youth and families of Northeastern Wisconsin.
Breast Cancer Family Foundation’s mission to “Inspire people in our community to lead cancer-free healthy lifestyles” is the driving force for everything we do. Our educational programs discuss all forms of cancer, emphasizing awareness, early detection methods, and healthy lifestyle behaviors. Students learn healthy habits (nutrition, exercise, detection, etc.) they can adopt now to help reduce their risk of developing cancer later in life.
