About Gratitude Garden

This app will help you be happier! It pushes you to think about what has gone right in your day, which has been shown to increase happiness. Every time you note down what good things have happened (and there is always something), you receive points you can use to build up a garden and also a Gratitude Card with suggestions for further things you could do to increase your gratitude and happiness.

Research shows that one of the most effective ways that people can become happier is to note down the good things that happen every day. This shifts our focus onto what has gone right, rather than leaving us to ruminate about problems.

There is a huge amount of research indicating that the act of recalling and writing down what has gone well each day is one of the best way to increase your happiness. One study found that gratitude journaling for ten weeks increased happiness by 25% over the people who didn't keep a gratitude journal. Gratitude is also linked to high self-esteem, kindness, good health, energy and generosity.

The Gratitude Garden was designed by Izzy McRae, a coach and happiness teacher. You can find out more information about her and her courses at www.izzymcrae.com. Neville Sattentau produced the beautiful artwork. His website is www.nevart.co.uk.

Simple, very attractive UI, and does what I want. Enter three things you are grateful for each day. I like the calendar that displays the days done and missed. I like spin the deck to pick a card with helpful or motivating quote/activity. You get reward points for every entry that you "spend" on animals for the garden picture - this is a fun idea. The animals are little hard to see in the garden, but it's not a big deal.

I like the app think its a great idea. But wot niggles me most is i dont get reminders wen to write in the app iv had to put reminders in my own calendar. I have also recorded 4 days worth if gratitude things and only been awarded 60 points

I'm not sure why there are so many complaints on this app! The background is interesting, as is the garden. Beautiful artwork that took someone and extreme amount of patience and time. Having to do 3 at once or none at all, isn't a problem for me, as I forget anyways, but won't forget a good thing that happened before 24 hours has passed; it also reminds you so you don't forget in case you're as forgetful as me! It does save everything, you simply go into your calendar and the days underlined are days you shared gratitude; simply click on the calendar day and your 3 things come up! Another thing I like about not being able to place your objects in the picture yourself; everything goes where it fits and I think there's a purpose in not being able to place your objects where you'd like them. Not sure what the purpose is exactly, but I know where everything I've added is, even though I didn't pick where it went. It's as if since they were placed after you shared good thoughts, you know they were placed there for those good things, and that's all that matters is that your happiness added those into the picture. If you don't know where they are, you may not know where your happiness is, but I sure hope you find it!

I was looking for an app to help me maintain an attitude of gratitude and after trying a few various apps, I found this one and it meets my needs entirely and goes beyond in the goodness it brings into my life. I'm grateful for this app and it's creators. Thank you for designing such a beautiful and useful app.

I am a neuro-psychotherapist and psychology professor continually looking for and evaluating apps. I am very particular about what I ask clients to use and what I recommend to other therapists. I have looked at many gratitude apps. This one has excellent psychological design features, and is beautiful. A rare combination. Thank you. My clients will be using this for their gratitude activity, and so will I ! Diana Joy, LPC, Welcome Counseling, Corvallis OR

Love this app for its simplicity. In a perfect world, I would love to see other types of garden to grow - like a regular garden with flowers and birds. Not massively fussed on the cards but I can see they would be useful exercises for some. Sweet. Well done

So good and refreshing to focus on the lovely things; and the quote on my first card was wonderful! "Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese." You are rewarded for keeping focus of what is good and being grateful by creating a beautiful garden ~ the garden is like a reflection of what is happening in your mind and heart as you choose to be positive. Only just started my garden today; thank you!! <3

It's a beautiful app and wonderful concept that only needs a few minor tweeks, such as more animals or garden levels and a few more setting options. I love the art work and appreciate the psychology in the act of being rewarded for coming up with things to be positive and thankful for.

Very nice, but what time zone is it set for? Doesn't seem to know that it's today pretty much anywhere in the world. Tells me I already journaled for today but it's been well over 24 hours. Is it a bug?

K70%
by K####:

Gorgeous, unique... but maybe a little loud. If I could turn off sounds, this would be the perfect app. I tend to do my journal in bed at the end of the day, and often with headphones, so I prefer my apps to be silenced.

It's great for what it is. It's not exactly what everyone is looking for, but it was great for me. I really really wish there were more gardens! Maybe even themed gardens would be fun. Thanks to the developers for their work on this app!

I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to do so as this app is so good. It's engaging, simple and easy to use which means that it's neither onerous nor too prescriptive - this is important if you want to keep using something like this on a daily basis. This should be a default smartphone app!

I love it. I wish it had new gardens and animals to acquire. I've gone through it twice. Wouldn't it be great to have new levels? Can more animals be added and plants to this one? I want it to last longer!

K70%
by K####:

Tried other apps but have came back to this one because it's the best. The garden is simple but cool. Wish I could add more than 3 entries per day of though

Z70%
by Z####:

I feel like the gardens elements should be totally bare and each element that is there in the beginning, should actually be a reward! Also, my job keeps me out through the night so my entries are always actually for the date before. The days should not end at 12 as some people's days end much later! (I don't always work at night so it's very awkward to keep a consistent daily entry!) Other than that, I love everything :)

K70%
by K####:

It's an alright app, but not especially useful for me as I like to write down my gratefulness throughout the day, and this app will not save your work in progress. You have to write all three at once, or nothing at all. Earning points and the garden scene are a nice touch, but I'd be more invested in it if I were able to choose where things go myself. And lastly, there is a reminder setting, but no option to set what time it goes off- unfortunately it's set for the time I am usually going to bed, so it's basically useless for me.

Simple easy and No Nonsense social media attached to it. People complaining about the garden background; PLEASE! Get over it. that's nonsense thing to complain about; the whole point is that you're spending time thinking about things you're grateful for and it's simple and easy

The artwork is the most beautiful you'll ever see in an app, or perhaps anywhere else for that matter. Love this app, can't fault it. Thank you.

Nothing negative to say about it. Although it could be improved with more features, it is a really impressive app and I would recommend it to anyone.

Izzy McRae, I have really enjoyed this app. I have tried multiple gratitude apps and even several actual journals before finding this one, and it is definitely the best. I love the simplicity of it and since I love gardening and art, it feels like this app was made for me. I especially enjoy the gratitude cards. Those are an added bonus. Thanks for bringing more joy and gratitude to my life. :)

Beautiful, simple way to record 3 things a day you're grateful for. Lovely points system to add more items to the garden --based on making daily entries. Great way to build a habit! Bonus: a card to pick with a thought for the day, after writing your gratitude items down. An elegant app!

S70%
by S####:

Really like the concept, cards, design...but... the background for the calendar is busy, perhaps it should be B&W then as a critter or plant is chosen, that part turns color. The main reason for the low rating is that I fill the calendar each day and later, days are empty. Like today 5 random days were empty. Why should I bother if they are going to disappear.

I like this app a lot and I found it at a perfect time in my life. By listing down the everyday small things that I'm grateful for, and to actually see my thoughts come to life through a garden is a brilliant idea. Great app

K70%

This app is a must have. No matter how bad your day was, having to write down three positive things makes you realize how you missed the uplifting moments and chose to dwell on the contrary. And the ability to build a beautiful garden with the positivity is a bonus.

I was going to suggest making the garden a little less busy, but I see someone beat me to it, and the response from the app creator makes perfect sense. Anyway, I second the suggestion. Thanks for the great app!

I love the simple input and earning things for entries. I gave it 4 stars because it would be better if you could place your plants and animals where you want to and have a wider selection. Different garden backgrounds would be awesome too!!!!

I love this app because it helps me focus on the good things in life. I love being able to earn points to add beauty to the garden. But every day I have more than 3 things I am grateful for, and I can't figure out how to add more than 3. Since gratitude is so powerful, maybe at some point you could add that option. Then I will change rating to 5!

I really like this app! The cards are great quotes. The garden is also fun and is encouraging, but would benefit more if once it's completed, a new garden (new scene/portrait) became available. Very similar to levels on games. Just to make it more interesting
