About Confined Spaces 101
OSHA provides guidance on general-industry-related Confined Spaces and Permit-Required Confined Spaces in the form of a decision tree or flow chart. We decided it would be convenient to provide a mobile version with helpful guidance along the way.
Please do not confuse the guidance provided here from OSHA 29 CFR §1910.146 for General Industry with the guidance for confined space for Construction (29 CFR §1926.21).
This mobile application was developed by the IUOE National Training Fund (NTF). The NTF provides curriculum, technical services and direct training to local union instructors. This enables them to deliver Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), OSHA Construction and General Industry Outreach, MSHA Miner and other safety and health courses. NTF train-the-trainer and trainer refresher classes provide instructors with the necessary technical skills and knowledge related to workplace hazards so they could teach classes at their home local union training programs.
The IUOE National Training Fund National HAZMAT Program is supported under National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) federal cooperative agreements and grants.
