About WSPR Beacon for Ham Radio

The WSPR Beacon App is made to send WSPR signals using your Android smartphone/tablet as a signal source. All you have to do is use the audio out of it and pair it with the audio in of your rig (and set it to VOX).

All you ha to do is:

1) Set your CALLSIGN

2) Set your LOCATOR or press the GPS button and have the app automatically calculate it based on your position. Please allow a few seconds for the GPS to get exact coordinates.

3) Set the POWER LEVEL so that it matches your rig output power

4) Select the BAND (optional). This is only to have handy the frequency value to set on the rig.

5) Set the TX FRAMING. This allows you to set how ofter the WSPR will be sent. By default the WSPR is sent only once.

6) Select the BASE FREQUENCY. It can go from 1400Hz to 1600Hz and by default it is 1500Hz

7) Press START

The app will wait for the next frame start before sending.

So you only have to make sure that the clock of your smartphone/tablet is synced.

By pressing the REPORTS button you can monitor, filter and share reception reports. By pressing the MAP button, the app will open the related WSPRnet.org map page to view reports.

This developer understands very well then needs of man-portable operations like RaDAR and SOTA using and Android device. I am using the app with WolphiLink audio interface on samsung galaxy tab and samsung galaxy s4 both working flawlessly. Very well done highly recommended.

I use this app for my qrp portable antenna and propagation testing. No need for a laptop!

Great App

Been using the application for some time. Really great for checking Band Openings, switching between Antennas, and checking Station Performance. Only issue is that I have to manually Start and Stop transmission. Even if the program is "Stopped", it keys my transmitter. In addition, recently the WOLPHI INTERFACE causes my Transceiver to either Mute, or go into Transmit when plugged in. Rig is Ten-Tec Model 535 Argonaut II (QRP). Otherwise, nice App.

A great tool that works well. My only gripe is it will transmit again after you have pressed stop. Its only a minor fault but it unexpectedly transmitted when I was swapping antennas, that wasn't nice. Other than that WOW great app.

by X####:

Great app. Use it everyday. Only issue I have with it is opening maps. Very slow and seems buggy when panning around even though I'm using a fast phone. Otherwise excellent app 5 stars

I use it for transmitting and monitoring WSPR using Yaesu and Icom radios via a SignaLink SL-1+ interface which handles the vox and audio isolation. Using it with a Samsung Galaxy S6 (Android 6.0.1) and a Samsung Tablet P5110 (Android 4.2.2) - works great. 73 G0SBN

by M####:

For some reason, even though i have synced the time. It does no start TX until 17% through the cycle, and is that long over on the next cycle. Please help!

Great app and works beautifully. If it would run in the background and have an associated decoder it would be the ultimate for WSPR

I love Android based digital modes. This one is great for checking propagation.

I tried using this App while abroad, but it does not accept long call signs with more than 6 characters. Other than that, it is a good App for portable WSPR use at home. An improvement is needed urgently.

Awesome App!! I use WSPR BEACON with my Yaesu FT817ND and a long wire up 45 ft in a tree running 5 watts resulting in numerous contacts! Great job developer!!

It has been running all night without difficulty. Checked the map this morning & i am on it

This is the best - and of this writing, only - WSPR beacon in the app store. Full marks for functionality on TX. Upon pressing START my callsign shifts 1 to 2 chars over, but easily identified and fixed manually by the user. The *only* reason this app did not get 5 stars is because it is transmit-only. If the dev releases a fully-functional WSPR app in update (both transmit and receive) this will generate 5 stars for me. de N0LSD

I hooked this up to my KX3 and an indoor Alex Loop to see if it was getting out. It was. This is a simple and elegant program, and we'll worth supporting

This app works as advertised and is worth many times more money than it's asking price. Now I can use my Youkits TJ2B HF handheld transceiver on WSPR :-) Thanks for writing this app! 73, de Jim VE7UV

Really cool app. It is really neat to see visually on a map where your signal is going. Using a Yaesu FT 817 my 5 watt signal made it from Florida all the way to Germany and into the middle of South America.

No fancy hookup or extensive wires needed. Uses the phone to generate tones and put your radio to VOX mode. Voila! Having lots of success with this. Worth every penny!

When I first loaded this App my callsign had to be typed in each time I started this App. I reported the problem. Since this latest update my callsign and location are now permanently stored. Mobile is the Note 3. Great App. Thanks. 73 Dick ZS6RO.
