Because Android won't let apps take direct control of the GPS status, the best you can hope for is a shortcut to your GPS settings. That's what this does: places a shortcut to GPS settings on your screen. This one also shows status of GPS: on or off. I place it on my home screen so that I will quickly notice if apps have access to my location. This app does its job great.

Those who say it just opens to an instruction/ad screen are idiots. You are running the App, not the Widget! The App is trying to tell you how to use the widget, and you don't even bother to read it. Just because you are too stupid to use it does not make it bad. As others have said, it's not just a shortcut to the location settings, it shows the GPS On/Off status (or, more precisely, if you are in High Accuracy location mode). That's the thing that makes it more than something you can do yourself or the pull-down provides. As one who needs to preserve my battery as much as possible and works in an area with poor to no GPS reception, I find this very useful.

Update. Not working Oreo on 6p. Works fine on Android 7.1.2 on Nexus 6p. Was using the Android App Automate, it is like Tasker, and said, gosh, wouldn't it be nice to learn Android Development and make an app that takes me directly to GPS setting? Then I thought, hey, maybe somebody already did it. Guess what? Someone did. Before giving this a crappy review, please try to comprehend that Google decided that apps should not be able to turn on GPS without you knowing. On Nougat it is no longer a simple swipe down, it takes three steps. This app shortens the amount of steps. I have noticed that apps can interrogate what cell tower you are near without asking for permission, the app Llama for instance. An app might also do something with wifi and track you. I do not see any advertisements.

A joke I think. Add widget to home screen and it disappeared after two seconds. Shows you plenty of ads for other widgets but this one does not work.

Its not a widget, I can bring up the GPS just as easy without this "widget"

Equiv to Settings - Connections - Location, so saves two taps (yawn).

Usually just opens an instruction window, then removes the widget without doing anything. If I keep trying I can get the widget to stay there, but all it then does is open the GPS settings. I can create a shortcut to do that myself in next to no time.

Once you load the widget it works as advertised with Marshmallow on my ZTE Max Pro.

It just works fine on an LG G3 with Android 6.0. I wish it could actually turn the GPS on and off, but that's Google's fault ( lame on them). It takes you to the switch, and shows you the current state. Thanks!

Takes you directly to the locations settings screen where you can turn off GPS. That's the best you can do on an un-rooted device. Also, the widget shows the current status of GPS (on/off) which some other widget apps for the same do not.

Works perfectly for me to let me know whether I've left my GPS on or off, & to take me to Settings in one click so I can use GPS (which is all that Google's OS will now allow for such an app to do?). It's great, it's all I need, fast and small! Extremely helpful & easy for when I want to use my safety app to be tracked by my family when I'm out hiking, walking, riding bus, out of town etc. Is only one that seemed to work for me. THANK YOU DEV! LG Optimus Elite

Simple and easy to use, can see at a glance if the GPS has been left on, which of course causes battery drain, one click and it take you to the Location Services page, where you can activate GPS, exactly the same to switch off. Cannot understand so many people giving this app such a low rating, when it does exactly what is says!

When tapped, it opened an instruction screen, then removed itself from the home screen. Nothing else.
