Slice Keyboard Demo for Android
If two fingers down gave primary set and one finger down gave secondary set this could potentially be the best keyboard concept on touch devices ever. But as it is it is useless. You have no bearing when you have to swipe to switch between letter sets. There is no strong control factor you have to keep track of whether your on primary or secondary key set and its an additional action that could be avoided. Also there is currently no value in one or two fingers being used. Waisted opportunity. Soo close!
Now i understand, need more practice to use this keyboard..
Could probably be very neat if the tutorial wasn't hopelessly broken.
Who the hell would want to use this?
I like this keyboard a lot, it has some bugs that need working out but please keep developing this app.
Takes a pretty long time to get used to it but once you do you can show it off to iPad users :D
It is fine when u start to get used to it. Even on a 10" tablet, i want to like it. The problem is most ppl don't want to pay to like it. You want ppl to use it with everyday type stuff. To realize it is better then how we do things now. The best thing for that is exposure.
Multi-touch tester fails on my Nexus 7, even though I know I can do it. Playing with the jelly bean easter egg, I've managed to grab and drag around up to 8 jelly beans at once, but this app only recognizes two finger touches, flickering between the 2nd and 3rd fingers.
The layout is not intuitive, if there's some logic in there please explain in the video so we could learn it. Numbers distribution is really weird. Also, go on and filter devices without advanced multitouch support. At least 4 fingers are required and my kindle fire seems to detect no more than two.
A great concept that I might enjoy on a larger device. I would consider learning the system if there was an ergonomic layout for the interface points, such as laying them out in a V configuration vs the current line configuration. I'll stay with my two thumbs on a qwerty layout for now.
Completely insane keyboard, very cool and confusing. Don't want to hate on this app, just not for me. I would like to someone typing insanely fast with this on YouTube! So post some sweet videos!
Crashes as soon as you put your finger on the screen, then requires you to force close. Good idea but needs bit more testing on the Sansung Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G
It's a little cut off for my tab P6200. It's not that responsive and you have to wait foe the animation to finish to actually hit the key. Fun but not practical.
Really doesn't work well on my nexus 7. It constantly flicka on and off between the main home keys and I can't type more than a few letters before it descends into crazy clicking frenzy. Maybe its better on a ten inch. Its not a bad idea although find it hard to believe that it could type faster than something like swift key. All standard keyboards today have the name principle and having to anchor your fingers to the screen is essentially is a completely new way to use a keyboard.
Might work well on a 10 inch tab. But I can't easily lay 6 fingers on the dots with a nexus 7. If it was optimized for two thumb use it would work better.
Its not horrible but is just hard to type with
But too complicated. Shouldn't take 2 motions to get one letter.
I think it's great that the developer of this I'd thinking outside of the box and trying to break away from the standard QWERTY keyboard design. However, this keyboard looks pretty bad and JUST BARELY even functions. It took me over three minutes to just type my full name. It's confusing and unusable. It doesn't even kinda work.
I love it when people push beyond the limits and this keyboard does just that. However, this keyboard just doesn't work for tablets. First you need to have both hands on the screen to use it. If you're holding your tablet that's not going to work. Second, I'm generally trying to minimize how much I touch the screen and this layout is just the opposite. Finally, I found it really difficult to learn because my hands were always covering the keys preventing me from seeing were the various letters & symbols were. Love the concept, but I just don't see this working for most tablet users.
I find alternative keyboards fascinating. The idea behind this is cool, but the learning curve is really, really steep, and it doesn't feel like it will ever get better for me. Using it feels very unintuitive. It feels much slower than even hunting and pecking. It's similar to the experience of trying to touch type on a 10-inch tablet, but instead of all the keys being available at once, you have to "reveal" the keys with your other fingers. Having your fingers firmly anchoring to a "home row" doesn't make much sense with touchscreens, because there's no tactile feedback when you're touching the screen. It's definitely different, but sometimes different isn't better. I'll stick with gesture typing for now.
I give the devs credit for trying new things, and the idea is cool, but I really don't see a functional benefit. You're essentially reinventing the wheel here.
Thanks but no thanks. I'll happily use the swype keyboard which is lightening quick and intuitive.
The YouTube demo had me curious enough to check it out. First impression was it made sense & was intuitive. However, after a few minutes of using it I could tell my fingers found it cumbersome to navigate to find and touch the right key. It was sort of like Twister for my fingers. For me Swype is much easier & faster. Idea: sell it to Disney to use in the next Star Wars movie! - Asus TF700T
App doesn't seem stable, but it's a new app. Also, there aren't any alternate layouts. It's only QWERTY with no Dvorak support. That was a deal breaker for me.
I would like it to work with both thumbs typing, not different from how one normally holds a tablet.then I would buy it, but the suggested style of typing with this keyboard is just wrong.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It has a very high learning curve. I have to touch both circles in order to be able to type letters. And one circle to type special characters. That feels like the opposite of what it should be. Compared to swype or SwiftKey, this falls behind especially in terms of predictive typing. Or, maybe I'm supposed to forget about predictive typing all together with slice. But, I'm giving it 3 stars for innovation. Good try and hope it gets better.
... Except for one of the most popular ones in the world right now... N7
I tried and it's not for me.
Not impressed
Just annoying
