About HandySpeech 2
How would you feel if you want to say something but can’t? Would you be able to find a job or simply chat with your friends and family? It’s a struggle! That is why iSpeak4U has created HandySpeech which helps hundreds of people and changes their lives by giving them their voice back.
The only handwriting-to-speech application for mobile devices, HandySpeech provides people a quick and easy conversational tool.
The application’s ability to translate handwritten text into spoken language makes HandySpeech easier to use and more natural than available keyboarding solutions. The app remembers frequently used phrases, learns the user’s handwriting style, understands cursive, print and mixed writing styles. It generates natural-sounding male and female voices in a total of 13 languages by leveraging award-winning Nuance voice technologies.
HandySpeech is a valuable tool for people who have lost their ability to speak due to injury or disease including oral, head and neck cancer, Muscular Dystrophy, Lou Gehrig’s disease, autism, stroke or brain injury and for those who is recovering from a surgery. It allows users to write on a device screen with their finger or stylus and have the device read aloud what an individual has intended to say.

"The HandySpeech app is appropriate for individuals who have a speech disorder resulting from a vocal fold pathology (i.e., affecting the larynx). This includes individuals with oral and laryngeal cancers, motor speech disorders affecting the larynx and oral structures such as apraxia of speech, and patients who are placed on vocal rest due to recent surgery to treat vocal nodules or overuse of their voice. This app could also be useful for individuals with ALS and muscular dystrophy as long as they have enough motor control to write. This app will help to reduce the frustration and helplessness associated with the inability to talk."
The application was created by a twelve-year-old boy who was inspired by his sister, an autistic young girl with speech disabilities. “I invented HandySpeech to give a voice to people who find it difficult to or are unable to speak,” said Eric Zeiberg. “The application is dedicated to courageous people who struggle every day to overcome their disabilities. I hope that HandySpeech will provide much needed help and open new opportunities for people in need.”
