I find this app very useful for adding sightings, particularly marking it on the map. I thought there was only 1 photo per species but I was wrong, some have a number of different photos showing breeding plumage, young, male and female. Where there are arrows on the image it shows the difference between male and female if appropriate although I haven't scanned the whole app.

Regularly find missing species in this guide and photos are pretty hopeless for helping with identification. Navigating to a species is fine if you are already knowledgable and know what group the bird belongs to but for a learner not intuitive. Having said all this there are no other android apps for UK bird ID that are any good compared with the amazing guides available for Apple products. Still waiting for the great Collins bird guide app for android...

App is pretty good. But recently it has asked for extra privileges (identity and wifi connection) with no explanation of why they are needed. The suspicion is that it's for monitoring for whatever reasons - hence the 3*. If apps ask for more privacy, they must explain why - if they don't, it suggests underhand activities. This criticism applies to all the apps from this developer - trees, butterflies, etc

Great photos and song. Found it useful for identification more then once. Only gripe is where the song button is on the photo which can cover important features. Surely it's possible to move the buttons off the photos. Update... oooops.. looks like this has already been taken care of. 5 stars then

Just stayed using this application today. I looked up both the Green Woodpecker and the Greater Spotted Woodpecker. The Green Woodpecker misses a photo of the male. The Greater Spotted Woodpecker misses any mention of the plumage of the young or any photos. I don't know what other omissions they are but this doesn't give me much confidence. Pity!

For the casual twitcher, this is an ideal aid to identifying birds. It's simple to use, and makes short work of naming when your out and about. It would be nice to a a few more photos to aid the trickier identifications, for example more photos of the birds in flight. I still can't tell the difference between a crow and rook mind...

SUNBIRD has released a new app which is way way better then this. This one is an excellent app itself but now has too many issues. It suprised me that suddenly it needs my identity permissions & wifi since this app is paid for and hasn't previously needed them and worked perfectly without. The app is Excellent but the home page is a bit confusing, eg. Pipits are Not under P but under W for wagtails and T for Owls. The pictures are of good quality but a few are missing such as an adult rook.

I paid £3.49 each for Sunbird's Bird Id and the Bird Song Id apps but have found neither to be anywhere close to a comprehensive database of all British Birds. Sunbird has now produced a more comprehensive bird Id app called 'All Birds UK' for a further £12.99! So rather than updating its original paid bird id apps Sunbird is fleecing its customers for a further £12.99. This is a greedy company that treats its paying customers with contempt and I will refuse to pay for another of their apps. I have since downloaded the iBird Guide to Birds of the UK which is an infinitely more comprehensive and detailed app with many more photos, illustrations, bird calls and so much more information and costs £8.99. My advice would be to buy the iBird app and avoid Sunbird.

Well designed app, with calls unlike last bird app I tried. Doesn't need internet either (most bird hides don't have wifi). But how come the little owl is omitted?

I'm only a casual twitcher and moved house recently so it's been really useful, but the main benefit has been for my partner's neice who has just turned three. She loves the pictures and how she can hear the bird's song as well as looking at the pictures.

I am disgusted that in this day & age with all of today's technology available that you have to pay to use an app that is clearly incomplete with an awful lot of British Birds not mentioned at all. Come on guys seriously get a grip Its now 2017 not 1917.

An excellent app for info, photos and songs. Well designed! I am now using it on my Samsung Tablet. It is the very best bird identification app that I have come across. I love the quiz too!

Q70%
by Q####:

Excellent app for logging the many birds I see when walking my dogs. Had tried the more comprehensive version on a CAT S60 but kept locking up but this version working fine

Q70%
by Q####:

I just downloaded this and paid for it. I tried to identify a bird and clicked the tick and it just took me to the list of all birds. Not impressed

Q70%
by Q####:

Saw a flock of redwings today, not that this app helped me to id them because it doesn't have redwings. Google and the RSPB website came to the rescue! Quite like the app but disappointed at omissions.

Q70%
by Q####:

Very detailed and easy to use app. Bird songs seem excellent, and the pictures clear. Nice to record personal sightings of common birds. Needs RSPB update of birdcount for 5th star

Q70%
by Q####:

Great app that does what it says in the blurb. My niece (4 yr) loves it and spends hours looking at the pictures and listening to the recordings.

Q70%
by Q####:

Shame it only shows pictures of the males or I would have rated 5

B70%
by B####:

Used to use Birds of Britain, (sadly no longer in app store) which had the birds in alphabetical order so easier to find what you were looking for. There also appear to some ommissions here, so not as good as it could be.

C70%

Sightings can be added date and location would be good. Also can you get the screen to rotate. Doesn't on either my Samsung S5 mini or my Samsung tablet. Would be a useful fix. Cheers

We've recently moved to the country and I love watching and listening to all the different birds, this App is helping me identify them and recognise them all. Simple and straight forward to use, love it

Q70%
by Q####:

I hope that future updates will include Redwing which was my reason for downloading the app in the first place. Other calls clear and will be a useful aid in the field.

Q70%

I am just an amateur bird watcher so this app is exactly what I need. Love playing the calls and listening to the replies.

Q70%

Just so easy to find the family of birds you are looking for and the bird calls and songs are a real bonus. Brilliant

Great app for the likes of me, complete amateurs who want to identify birds feeding in the garden. The birdsong feature is really useful.

N70%

A very useful app and the bird sounds are a great help.

It's not a bad app, only complaint is that the songs are not long enough.

Q70%

Where are the greater and lesser black backed gulls for starters? Call as well as song would be useful

V70%

Could do with more photos of each species.

Q70%

Superb app, I have used several, but none come close to this.

It's great for identifying the birds I see. Very easy to use.

Good for the inexperienced birder as well as the expert.

Q70%

Superb app. Easy to follow and great out in the field bird watching.

Q70%
by Q####:

Good app but the identification section could have more options to help identify

Q70%
by Q####:

Some songs are a bit short but it's a good intro to the world of British birdsong

Q70%
by Q####:

A bit sparse on pictures

Q70%
by Q####:

Pretty easy to use and call identification handy......just short of a few species.

Y70%
by Y####:

Any chance of updating this app?

M70%
by M####:

This app is useful and thorough, but the layout, with its heavy subheadings and coloured bars, is visually taxing and unnecessarily busy. A simpler, more open design would be a great improvement.
