I expect more out of Fluval and certainly better out of Deutschland. We need a serious App update or a viable alternative. I can't justify buying a second light for Port 2 if this isn't going to change. This WiFi working better and more comprehensibly is going to be the determining factor in that decision. Doctors Foster and Smith included the module with my fixture for free. Had I paid for it only to be stuck with this App I would have returned it.

You have to disconect from your WiFi and connect to your tank WiFi. That is just ridiculous. I can see how the configuration takes a little bit of thinking but if you can manage to get it to work it's actually pretty cool. The cloud effect is awesome. Fluval needs to hire a software company to fix this mess but it's not that bad in my opinion.

N70%
by N####:

Tank *beautifully* lit when settings work. Very low profile! Can't have more than one channel/saved settings for each port. Can't control blue lighting separately. Can't get both lights to change independently in cloud mode. Wifi and power sources get pretty hot. Power buttons work very inconsistently: sometimes have to unplug to get lights to really go off.

I can't believe I pay close to $250 for a light and DON'T get a remote! When they sell cheaper lights that do! What a waste of money and time. Returning my light based on fact I have to pay for app function. Thus driving my investment over $300. Don't waste your money!

T70%
by T####:

The fact that you have to specifically connect to this device via WiFi (i.e. disconnect from your home network) is annoying. The fact that, when you do, it's an unstable connection is even more annoying. The fact that when you connect to it, and when it stays connected, the app crashes on startup is just plain infuriating. This is an expensive bit of hardware. Please invest in the app to give your customers the product they were expecting.

N70%
by N####:

Lighting hardware works above and beyond. However the Controller and App are lacking. Controller was ~AU$200 and does the same thing as AU$20 timer from the hardware store. It could have had more functions/features, better designed. The app crashes semi regularly. There is no proper instructions.

Doesn't work with new Android update. Have lost ability to control my lights without this software. Interested in several sets is lights with hundreds of dollars spent and now I am stuck with it. Fluval, please update your app to keep your customers happy. Please, please, please.

Poor app with very little functionality. For the money spent on the wifi adaptor very dissapointed After 6 months program wont even connect to the contoller anymore. Such a waste of money

N70%
by N####:

Connected to Fluval 2.0 - Frequently drops Wi-Fi connection. Unpredictable flicker/strobe effect. Will drop programming. Appeared to work if "night/blue" channel was not programmed to work while "daylight" channel was on. Appeared to resolve flicker and dropped program once reconnected to Wi-Fi. Fluval said this cannot happen but it does and numerous complaints exist.

N70%
by N####:

Every time I tried to log in into the controller the app would automatically close before the connection was established. Probably not the app but my piece pf junk LG or the latest android update causing the problem. Got the wifi controller to work with an iPhone. Going to return the controller and get a timer. For the cost of the light/timer combined I could have boughten the Finnex Planted+ 24/7 for less and gotten the same effects.

F70%
by F####:

Junk. Will no longer let me connect to it. Now my light will come on 4 hours after i initially set it to. What a waist of money.

N70%
by N####:

I believe the App's 24hr time setting might be a small issue. Also, Discovered making sure light is manually off by your finger, then let app adjust things is key.....there's function conflict if otherwise. App needs a big rewrite with bunch of changes...like on/off button in App. And the app should adjust to users phone time settings, or detect time zone?

N70%
by N####:

Please update app, it doesn't work with android 7.1.1 on Zte axon 7. App just crashes after I press login. And it works good on moto g with android 6.

what a horrible app.... does not work. I expect so much more from Fluval. I can't even log in. kicks me out.

Needs an update to fix issues asap (its complicated). I think ive sussed it, this is how ive set mine : EXAMPLE ONLY ; White light; Sunrise 8am-10am @ 10%. Break 10am-7pm @ 100%. Sunset 7pm-8pm @ 0%. Blue light; Sunrise 8am-10am @ 25%. Break 10am-9pm @ 100%. Sunset 9pm-10pm @ 0%. The white light will fade gradually for 1hr between 7pm-8pm and will be off between 8pm-8am. The blue light will fade gradually between 9pm-10pm and will be off between 10pm-8am. Depending on the type of fish/plants you have depends on how much light/strength of light you should have and how long for so please remember this is an EXAMPLE ONLY. I HOPE THIS INFO HELPS

N70%
by N####:

Could be better for the money. I finally got mine set how I want, and I do like how it remembers the setting after it is unplugged. The app interface and connectivity settings can definitely be better, with hopes that it can be corrected without selling a new light altogether. The lights are fine tho, great output and with the app you can control a little better than the button, once you spend a bit of time getting connected. I'm $250 into the light and wifi mod.. but I feel like $150 after taxes would be ideal for this.

N70%
by N####:

I like the light itself. I have the 48 inch light on a 60 gallon planted tank, and it works well. I bought the WiFi unit to help with controlling the light on days I'm at work for 12-14 hrs. The WiFi was very misleading. In today's market I should be able to connect to the light via my home connection. And access the light from anywhere on my mobile device. This is more like a Bluetooth connection. The interface works but it's going to take a lot of work to continually reset what I need, after unconnecting from my home WiFi first. In short, good light, good idea for remote, very poor execution. Fluval if you want people to continue to buy this it needs work. Please update!!!

D70%

Software and hardware unreliable. Have to reconnect every 2 days to make sure the schedule works properly.

N70%
by N####:

I could get over having to switch to the device WiFi but this app is super broken. Can't log in at all after spending 300 dollars on these lights, app crashed immediately on log in, so for now I have to manually turn them on or off and don't get the benefit of light mixing or ramp up.

O70%
by O####:

Had some issues in past with not turning off when supposed to bit I would just log on to the app and it would basically reset things and be fine. Starting about a month ago the app just stopped working and so can't open it as it crashes every time. So now clue how of I ever can adjust the timing on the lights or if just screwed and have this expensive little box hooked to the lights doing not much more than a cheap timer would do. I reported it and mot heard anything back.

N70%
by N####:

This thing is junk! Please fix or even better, come out with a new one that actually works!

A70%
by A####:

$199 for wifi box that's is garbage and an app that doesn't connect or work. Makes my light have epileptic seizures at random times I had to disconnect and add my own timer. Very disappointed

N70%
by N####:

Lights don't keep time they turn on randomly when they are scheduled to be off. Fluval should of made a normal ramp timer without the WiFi. They delayed this for so long and when it comes out it doesn't even work.

X70%
by X####:

The interface is ok and having to log into the devices own wifi and not my just go through my router is a minor annoyance but ok. I wish that at night I could have the light go out 100% and not have the blue light stay on, my tank is right outside my room and I have to leave my door open at night. Update: after much work I finally figured out how to make sure the light would turn off for the night. This app needs a lot more work. Right now the adapter isn't worth all of the money.

M70%
by M####:

Don't buy the WiFi controller, Don't buy the LED 2.0 lights, Fluval doesn't care if they put out garbage apparently. The button on the lights are horrible, this app sucks, and the WiFi controller is a joke. Lights do whatever they want when connected. I had high hopes but, $500 later I completely regret going with these lights.

M70%
by M####:

The app is unstable at times and disconnects from wifi module. Fluval needs to make improvements on this to allow the unit to actually connect to your home wifi instead of its own independent network. It is inconvenient to disconnect from my home network and to the fluval gateway everytime i need to make adjustments. Hopefully future versions of the app will allow this to happen.

Unfortunately I have my lights set to come on at 11:59am, so why do they kick on at midnight. This should probably be set to military time to work properly. This device shouldn't suddenly kick on & stress my fish. Was looking forward to this controller but it is a regrettable mistake!

M70%
by M####:

This was my first attempt to switch my 75g saltwater tank to LED. The lights themselves are good but the app is TERRIBLE!! After repeated attempts to connect with the lights I continue to get errors and "gateway connection was interrupted" messages. Fluval really, really missed the mark with this product. I would strongly recommend you go with a different company for your lighting needs. I will likely return mine to my local fish store and try something that works...it was a good idea

M70%
by M####:

Works. The fact that you have to connect to the device as a separate network is annoying. I used an old phone without service that is now dedicated to the tank. Also, despite what another reviewer said, you can indeed turn the lights off 100%. The settings are confusing though. The app crashes because the range on the wifi is only about 8-10 feet and it takes more than a minute to reconnect. Best suggestion for understanding the times is to look at the graph at the bottom which shows how it will ramp up, ramp down, hold , and turn off.

M70%
by M####:

The lights work as advertised. In fact I am quite please with the hardware itself. However the app needs work. It often crash. Some of the UI is not intuitive. In the end I managed to get the lights to do what I want but it was harder than it should have been. SeeIng that the app is only needed at setup it isn't a show stopper for the lights themselves. It just make using the entire product harder than it should be.

M70%
by M####:

Works worse then the button on the overly expensive light. Wifi works with in 10 feet only for my phone. Ive had to uninstall and re install 4 times now as the app is cortupted. The timer function has yet to work. Fluval is belly up floater on this thing it seems.

M70%
by M####:

1) Have to login again every time you leave the screen - why is log in even necessary since you already have to 2) Connect to the Fluval "network" for this to work at all 3) Why are the schedules so rigid? You should be able to add or remove breaks or additional "sunrises" or "sunsets" as desired. 4) "The night must be less than sunrise value" - why? 5)Rename Wifi does nothing.

M70%
by M####:

This was such a colossal waste of money. The automatic sunrise/sunset doesn't work. I'm guessing I need an android device permanently connected to trigger the timers. What a piece of expensive crap. Thanks for nothing Fluval

M70%
by M####:

Remember these reviews are for the app not the wifi adaptor itself. The app is poor and confusing. As seen as there are no proper instructions included with the controller I suggest for new users to watch the Fluval YouTube video on how to program this correctly as that made it so much easier. I have also noticed if I enter airplane mode and then connect to the adaptor, then the app is less likely to disconnect from the adaptor. Just be patient and it will work. @Fluval please improve this app faster

Fluval should be boycotted. Or better yet sued.Waited months after buying led lights. Which clearly stated on shipping box wifi avavilable. Hoping to take needed vacation was more than disappointed when finally I found controller this morning. All day trying to get the f thing to work even tech support was embarrassed to tell me they could not help.SADDDD. keep reading, this is real. Never BUY fluval products. The next post may be You!!!!!

Such a waste of money.only works when it wants too .as for the actual light fixture if you take off the plastic cover next to the on/off switch the button works properly so try that out on your fixture hope that helps

I don't usually write reviews, but this product (along with the "wifi" controller) has prompted me to do so. I'm also an IT guy... it's what I do for a living, so I COMPLETELY understand the technology involved in "wifi", and this review is based on what it SHOULD be. I've had the light for a while, but the wifi controller was delayed. When I purchased the light, the packaging led me to believe that it was wifi ready. It wasn't. You needed to purchase a "wifi" controller... Which was delayed. "Ok" I told myself, I can wait. In waiting, I found out the switch is TERRIBLE. I'm not the only one to remark about it. It's all over the internet. It's terrible. I can't figure out if it's a touch, or a swipe, or a hold or anything, cause it mostly doesn't work. Sometimes, it just flat locks up, and you'll need to unplug, and replug in the unit. "I'll wait" I told myself since the power switch wasn't something I was planning on using once I could control it with my phone. Well... I finally got the wifi controler, and the whole setup is just garbage. I'm utterly disappointed in the whole thing. As far as the actual LIGHTING goes, its fine. They light the tank with good, natur

Not very good controls. alot of money for such minimal controls

this device does not work. you might be able to log in once or twice and then after a while you will no longer be able to control the light at all because the button on the light no longer works. Fluval needs to upgrade. Dont spent your money on this you will have to buy something else later.
