About Explore Western Maine
Explore Western ME is the free go-to mobile app for the Western Mountains and Lakes Region of Maine. We want you to come explore our neck of the woods! Get inspired by the natural beauty. We have 10 of Maine’s 14 mountains measuring more 4,000 feet above sea level so it is easy to feel like you are sitting on top of the world here. Year-round recreation opportunities abound and there are wonderful restaurants, shops and art galleries scattered throughout the area. Or just unplug and enjoy the laid back quality of life in western Maine.
Communities covered include Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley, Stratton/Eustis, Rangeley, Oquossoc, Strong and Phillips. The area is home to Sugarloaf and Saddleback ski resorts, the Rangeley Lakes and Flagstaff Lake. Nearby Farmington is home to the University of Maine at Farmington as well as many shops, restaurants and things to do.
Explore Western ME is owned and compiled by the Original Irregular (207-265-2773), a local weekly newspaper and seasonal publications covering Northern Franklin County, Maine.
