A great app, but in a recent update you can't see the forecast map anymore, which is the main point to having the app. Also, the updates appear to be quite delayed. I would suggest a news alert service to give some more advanced warning, as often viewing points are a bit out the way.

A good app for what it does. Unfortunately, the alerts stroll in up to 2 hours after the alert happens. So far ive missed 6 or 7 red alerts because the alerts wandered in at least a hour later. Just to be sure i have the alerts set to amber or higher.

I would highly recommend this app as not only you get an accurate real time forecast but also a 30 minute OVATION model. Thanks for producing such a great app. I have used it greatly.

Uninstalled !! Useless!! ... Doesn't show the forecast map anymore, says I need to update the northern hemisphere url. I havent a clue how to do that.

by S####:

First was okay however it was a bit difficult to use the app and cannot share the info but lately didnt recieved the updated just like 10hrs after the aurora was visible.uninstalled trying something else

Please fix the link in the app to the ovation forecast .jpg picture. There is a nice little alert which tells me to change the url with the new link. This is your job as only you can change the url within the app. Very odd why you have not fixed this. Please respond to this request.

Seriously need to update the app to support the new PNG ovation image...it would take literally 2 mins and not even a full line of code to change!

T70%
by T####:

So it looks nothing like what the screenshots show..there are no buttons to press such as "Data" or "forecast". Very basic and no instructions on how to use

Deleted. Still no map link. Waited for months.

It's an alright app that gives a good indication of when aurora will likely be visible from the UK. Only issue with this new version is that the menu icon does not work. I am therefore unable to customise the notification threshold. I have uninstalled and instead replaced with the app of the same name by "small bouldering project". Different layout but uses the same data and the menu works. EDIT: Within hours of posting my review I got a reply from the Dev informing me that they'd fixed the issue and updated the app. Lo and behold the menu button works as intended and I have amended my rating to reflect this. Thanks again aurora watch UK.

Changing to 5*'s!! Thank you john for the quick update - settings now opening fine as is the ovation model and I assume notifications will do too now that I can get into settings :)

For me, the newest version has no options menu (there's the 3 dots on the right of title bar, but tapping it does nothing) - so I have no way of enabling the push notifications, if they still exist. Am assuming that's a bug. Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520F on android 6.0.1

S70%
by S####:

Ever since the update I cannot access the options menu, the three dots are still there but do nothing when pushed. I also get no notifications through even though they are set to yellow level or above and it was red for four hours last night!

K70%
by K####:

It would be very useful if alerts could be shared, when one comes in I post on Facebook but if I could share a link from the app it would be ideal

T70%

Nice app. Works well especially now the ovation map link has been updated

What's happened? Will not run. Get the 'Aurorawatch' green splash screen, then a 10mm x 1mm green vertical bar at top left of screen. Settings dots there but do not work. (Samsung Galaxy S3)

What have you done with this app. It used to work great. Now it spends most of its life trying to load. Get it sorted please.

N70%

Not as easy to read information and cannot access the settings since the update. Prefer the previous version

N70%

Since latest update it will no longer display correctly. I'm not even able to access any settings

There are no controls and only one page. Sorry but can't find controls. Is it possible to get the pre update version

This app is essential for the Aurora hunters.. All credit to the guys behind the scenes who are able to make this happen.

During the 48 hours from 21.00gmt, Oct 23 -25th there was much activity. My app was set at default Yellow and above. I don't know if this app is supposed to give "notifications" on Android 7 but I don't seem to have had any. The conditions for Scotland are likely to produce visible Aurora but no app notification!? I had to go to the app to check activity. Perhaps this can be improved.

N70%
by N####:

I like the idea of this app but the alerts need to be quicker. There was an Amber alert reading at 20:00 today but my phone did not ping until near 22:00 when things had calmed down to yellow. Also sending alerts during UK daylight hours is fairly pointless.

N70%
by N####:

Worked lovely on my Samsung Note 2. Recently changed to a Note 3, and since all alarms have stopped. All my settings have been checked time and time again. I've missed 2 red alerts :-(

N70%
by N####:

It is a good app. In fact the alerts are coming slightly late, but it's still OK. One thing that could be added to settings is personalised sound for an alert. I'm having about 40 apps on my phone and roughly 10 of them are configured with some alerts, it would be nice to be able to distinguish an aurora alert from Facebook, or other less important notifications...

N70%
by N####:

Restricting alerts to amber or red has no effect! Also, chart often fails to update. Became annoying.

A70%
by A####:

Either a widget or the ability to set an alert threshold by magnetic field strength (eg 75nT) rather than just yellow / amber / red would make this app much more useful.

Q70%
by Q####:

Update to first post. I get yellow alerts when set to Red Only. Alerts still don't correlate with the map. As the alerts are many I have tried to turn off alerts but it won't let me. Next step is to uninstall. This is a shame because I live in North Scotland so it should be useful............. I get alerts two hours late. I get yellow when set to Amber and Above. I get alerts in daytime. The alerts of potential activity are, from the map, possibly North American but bear no resemblance to the UK activity.

F70%
by F####:

Used to work fine but I now get no alerts. I have set the alert switch to green and alert type to yellow and above - nothing comes through.

N70%
by N####:

Missed the lights over the last couple of nights (Aberdeenshire). No warnings from the app. Pretty useless TBH.
