About The Gaudie Student Newspaper
The Gaudie has been an iconic part of student life at Aberdeen University since 1934, celebrating its 80th birthday in 2014. The Gaudie is the oldest independent student newspaper in Scotland.
With an average length of 24 pages; a readership of 2,000 in print, 2,000-4,000 for our digital issue, and thousands of visitors to our website, The Gaudie has grown into a successful, and celebrated, student media outlet fit for the 21st Century.
Published every second Tuesday during term time, it is distributed across campus, including Hillhead Halls of Residence, King’s College Campus, ASV Sports Centre, Forresterhill Medical School and many places in between.
Written by you, for you, The Gaudie wouldn’t survive without its dedicated volunteers. Around 150 students contribute articles and photographs on an annual basis, with the 14-strong editorial team bringing it all together on the page. Which isn’t bad for a university with no journalism school.
