More Keyboards for Slate 21 for Android
I bought my Slate 21 with ph.k-board in Japan and hoped to have the possibility to write primarily in English. I am not Japanese and with this `more k-board` software I am constantly forced to punch the language input key (top left) in order select English instead of the set Japanese that goes off every time I change line, even though the keyboard layout is in Romanj/English alphabet and English k layout (the kata is the secondary character) the Slate 21 keeps on giving me the Jap first, screwing everything I am typing, overloading the already tiny RAM (1GB memory) of this machine, and causing the system to crash whilst online (losing all was written.. email, forum comment ect.) but also when writing letters, essays and so on. HP should do something about it and provide a fix to non natives here in Japan, or elsewhere. (btw, an English-only keyboard was not available in this country for sale!.. and buying one from overseas would cost me more than the actual machine). And if you are wondering, setting the input language to English will cause misbehaviour of the keyboard (layout will not match any longer).
The Slate 21 comes with fewer keyboards layouts, so if you want to type in Hebrew/Arabic/Thai and some other IME languages, you'll need this app. Contrary to the stock keyboard that comes with the Slate, this keyboard switching is using ALT SHIFT and NOT CTRL Space. It adds a little notification on the upper right side to show you which language you're using now. I'm using this app and the only issue with it is that you'll need to hold ALT for 0.4-1 seconds before you can press the Shift key in order to switch between languages. There is another small issue regard the app layout, which shows "secondary language" but you cannot actually change it.
