Learn Japanese WordPower for Android
Needs to be downloaded REPEATEDLY, each time takes hours! WORST APP EVER!
There are still some bugs with the user interface, not always responsive. About 1 in 5 words do not have audible files associated with them. I've only been in the first few lessons so I may update this as I progress. Right now I would not recommend it as my first choice. How can you know if you have down loaded all the content?
I love JapanesePod101, but this is a pretty much useless app. I thought I'd try it, because it was on sale and most of the reviews seemed to be older. But they haven't fixed anything. Ridiculously huge download, the already hard-to-read, light blue font is impossibly small, and the app is *just* flashcards. Other apps do this better and for free.
This app is the perfect way to build vocabulary. It teaches a new word every day AND gives examples on how to use the word. I especially enjoy the pronounciation audio, it really helps! Thank you Innovative Language Learning :)
i m downloading the 400mb data for the 8th time now
Firstly, I download the word bank that is about 400mb, but if doesnt finish that time, next time i try to download it starts from the beginning. Data lose about 200mb everytime. Secondly, I cant listen the pronunciations. What can i learn if i dont listen the word.. hate this. Want my money back
The worst app ever... tiny tiny tiny buttons/menus/images/ etc, missing images, always crushing -_- and also, iOS layout/UI on an android app? Really..? It gets worst if you install it on a tablet :/ You should be able to zoomin/out text, it's hard to read the kana and kanji. Please improve the app.
Many words but no real structure set out to teach/learn them.
Just fancy flashcards. Would be better if you could add your own words.
One of my fav apps.
I use and love Japanesepod101's audio lessons, but this is a dud. Content is missing on many flashcards (the front side is blank), and many pictures have just the faintest thematic relation to the answer. Other pictures are too small to identify. Hopefully, this will improve with updates, because I'd currently rank it a tiny step above useless. Just download Anki for free and make your own decks.
Good- 1) Has audio, pictures, and example sentences. 2) You can see and review wrong answers in word bank. 3) You can set quiz questions for pictures, kanji, or audio only. Negatives- 1) Tries to sign you up to their website and send you e-mails... 2) Can't search on example sentences and no quiz on them. 3) Kanji font too small on flipped cards in quiz. 4) Strangely missing pronoun section (we, our, they, us...)
It misses so many words. It is an over expensive flashcard app. You will find it very incomplete if you are studying 日本語. Unsurprisingly it doesn't have a free version, no-one would buy it.
As much as I enjoy japanesepod101, the app is less than impressive. It looks as if they used some iOS-emulating middleware that isn't ready for primetime. The content itself is just fine, if only the app were more stable.
I got the app at a discount and also liked audio books from Innovative. Unfortunately this vocabulary app falls short of expectations. Technically it constantly crashes on start up both on Nexus 7 and Galaxy S4. The font size of Kanji particularly on the answer side of flash cards is way to small. The app is clearly not optimized to fill a 7" tablet screen. Word of the day only comes occasionally. Crashes my phone. Uninstalled 7$ wasted.
Thanks!
The app works great on my phone (T-Mobile G2), but the screen does not resize properly on my Xoom.
Donate for Japan! Spread this comment. Becuse we lucky to be able to call someone and have them answer.
The options for the front of the flashcards include romaji, audio and kanji. However the readings are given in romaji with no option to change. Sound does not play automatically; user must click play button for every card. Some quick searches for simple words like squid show no results. Interface is for mobiles not android tablets. I thought the sound quality was quite poor, especially with earphones. So disappointed. I wish I'd tried the free version first, but the comment below was so positive that I rushed into it.
It would be better if you could make your own lists.
Please update the icon, it looks horrible as it is now, with the black background.
Best app I have found for learning Japanese. Now that the playback bug is fixed, and can run off an SD card, its perfect so far as I can tell.
Recording does not work on droid. Also would like to be able to add words.
I love that u can learn words by category, like "dinner" or "cooking" I love this app! =)
I will give it a 5 when I can have it run off sd card thin the internal memory
Keeps crashing my DROID RAZR. The word of the day has not changed for 2 weeks! Should have returned it when I had the chance. Expensive for what i received.

I would have given this 5 stars since it does what we need it to, but when you use flashcards the kanji is so small even magnified to 200% . and with the light blue text on a white background trying to make out what's written is a constant strain on the eyes. if these issues are resolved soon then perfect otherwise this is just another dictionary
