About Il Pellicano Travel Guide
In some of my earliest memories, I’m a little girl with a pony tail spying on the very chic grown ups dancing around the pool of Il Pellicano. I never imagined then that my family would once own this magical place. The strange thing is, though my life now revolves around it, it's lost none of its fascination. There's something in the air here. You just know that this was a hotel born out of love, and a sense of adventure. It was opened in 1965 by a dashing British aviator, Michael Graham, and his glamorous American wife Patsy. They had come to Europe looking for a special seaside property, and found it on Tuscany’s rocky Monte Argentario promontory with its translucent blue-green sea.The hotel soon became the summer haunt of a clique of international sophisticates. My father Roberto was lucky enough to be admitted to this exclusive circle, and became good friends with the Grahams. When they decided to sell up at the end of the 1970s, and asked him to suggest some potential purchasers, he made a decision for which I will forever be grateful: he realised that his passion for this unique resort made him the obvious candidate. When I joined my father in helping to run one of Italy’s most exclusive, iconic hotels, I began to meet so many special people. In the run-up to Il Pellicano's fiftieth anniversary, it occurred to me that sharing the precious knowledge of our cultured, well-travelled guests would be a marvelous way to pay tribute to the spirit of this special place. The result is Il Pellicano Travel Guide app: a selection of hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and cultural draws in some of the world’s best-loved cities. Il Pellicano Guides are opinionated and personal, not bland and neutral. They prize character over price category, and life over luxury. Here and there, as you browse through the guides, you will see some of the personal comments of our worldwide selection committee, enclosed in inverted commas. To them, and to all the friends who have made Il Pellicano such an extraordinary, never-ending journey, we extend our sincerest thanks. Marie-Louise Sciò. With this App you can share, for example, hotels, restaurants, you can make a call, send an email, view on map, view their websites.
