About Moneydance

Hello Android!

For the first time in its long-running history, Moneydance is now available on Google Play, and we couldn't be more excited.

Moneydance lets you take your finances mobile, providing an intuitive interface designed specifically for Android which enables you to enter your transactions at any time, no matter where you are. Balance updates are immediate, and sync is effortless; so effortless in-fact you won't even know it's happening. Moneydance uses Dropbox to power its sync, meaning your Mac, PC and iOS versions are all up-to-date, all of the time.

The full desktop version of Moneydance is required to use this app. A free trial is available for download at http://moneydance.com

Moneydance uses strong AES encryption in addition to Dropbox's built-in encryption to guarantee your finances are protected whilst syncing.

C'mon IK, this app is way behind the competition. Instead of taking years to update the desktop app with little visible benefit let's have a decent app to go with it. I'd pay a decent amount for a more useful app. This app could be useful but at present it only allows you to view or add transactions, and very little else. What's more, sometimes when I click on a transaction to view it, it displays a completely different transaction, sometimes even from a different account. Add to this the annoying fact that there is only room in the date column for one digit of the date when using the tablet in large text mode, despite there being plenty of room to widen the column, and the developers won't fix it as they consider that we should not use large text mode! If this was an app setting I could accept that but as it is a tablet setting I find it really bad that they expect me to change a system-wide setting just so that their app would work properly. Very disappointed.

This Personal Finance App on phone is just basic application for entering transaction only. You can't do anything else. Everything is done on desktop computer. This App need to have Dropbox access to get all account details you entered on your desktop computer and vice versa. You can have many accounts on desktop computer and all those accounts can be synced through Dropbox access. App is free on phone. This App need to have better user interface IMHO.

Dropbox only, can't do anything if I don't use Dropbox, I'm out. Why am I forced to rely on a 3rd party service which I don't even use? Not everybody is using Dropbox. The desktop version is still fantastic though.

No longer syncs correctly with pc since upgraded to 2017-1592 on pc gets out of sync.

When I add a new transaction through the mobile app and then sync with desktop the transaction entered through mobile sometimes gets lost.

For a simple app, to create transactions on the go, I think it is really good. The only thing I find missing is the 'Tag' line missing, which I assign to every transaction. To use tags, I must assign these using the desktop application. Otherwise it does everything for transactions 'on the go,' as I believe it was originally designed for. Sorry - one 'Star' removed as 'Tags' should be part of the application. Otherwise a '5'. Everyone has their own 2 cents - mine is 'Tags' Keep up the good work.

Installed. Opened. Connected to Dropbox. The screen says "searching for folders" - nothing else. Closed. Restarted. Searching for folders. That's all I can do with this app.

A few updates later this app and its desktop companion are talking to each other without messing up my data. Took a while but I can now say I am happy with the way it works.

This for sure the best stable & flexible software for personal finance. However, the Android app still needs some work

Sync disaster fixed, app is back to barely adequate.

Not everybody uses Dropbox.

Syncing works well, the only problem is that the app reports completely wrong account balances as it swaps credits to debits on many transactions. Looks like an update has been released without proper testing. UPDATE version 1.13 resolves the issue with incorrect balances etc and now works perfectly. A great add on to the Moneydance program.

After an earlier four star review, which was dropped down to one star when the developer let two upgrades through that destroyed my book keeping, he has now seen fit to issue a further upgrade that fixes problems that never existed in the first place. Well done, developer. So I now offer three stars, mainly because I no longer trust the software at all, but it works for now. There are no short cuts to restoring trust.

This latest version has fixed the outstanding sync issues I had with running balances and negative/positive transaction switches. Back to being an essential part of my life again. Thank you!

Version 1.13 appear to have fixed the recent issues , so go ahead and try it Developers the biggest thing which annoys me is that the app has ALL my categories / accounts including all my closed ones, can you get it to only show live ones ?

Had some crashes when first trying to start. May have been a dropbox access problem although after getting it to run once it now comes up even if dropbox is not accessable.

New mobile app version 1.13 now appears to sync perfectly with MD Desktop 2017.4 (1624). Great for on-the-go transaction entries. A real time saver! Excellent!

Recent Android update has destroyed this previous excellent app when transferring between accounts you now get a debit on both accounts instead if one debt and one credit. No response from support. Went wrong over recent weekend Thankfully Apple version still works

N70%

Buggy at times but developers answer problems quickly via their website help line. Been using Moneydance ever since Microsoft dumped their Money program. Overall pleaded with the app but it would be nice if the app was more robust and supported reminders.

This is awful. The last update broke this app. All my balances are messed up. All transactions between accounts are the same not offsetting entries. May be forced back to Quicken. Ugh.

I have been using this app for a few years but the latest version has an unacceptable bug. When I transfer money from one of my bank accounts to any other account it shows up as a payment int the the account I am transferring from but then it also shows up as a payment in the account I am transferring to. It shows up ok in Moneydance for Windows, which I use for my finances on my computer. This means the app is not accurate at all and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Just started using Moneydance abiut a month ago. Syncing works fine. I was using YNAB so already had a Dropbox account for that. MD connected with no issues. The UI could be modernized. It's primitive compared to my banks app. The pin lock does not have a time out timer. When multitasking every time I come back to MD I have to reenter the pin. Would be great to have a setting so the user could set a timeout period.

This does exactly what I need it to do. I can use my phone to enter transactions and they sync with the full moneydance version. Crashing issue seems to be fixed. It's free, not sure why people have to hate so much. Thanks for the great mobile app.

N70%
by N####:

Disappointed that regular payments or credits set up on my laptop, never show on this app unless I have booted up and run my PC. It only syncs to the last saved version from there. There needs to be a way of these transactions being synced so that they automatically get added or show up so that they can be added in the app. Without it, the balances showing may not be accurate.

A companion to the desktop app. It can do with a ui update especially in case of tablets and anls needs possibility to manage invetments and option to view expenses. But it does what its suppose to which is provide basic data entry option for the desktop app

N70%
by N####:

Fine until now but there's one privacy concern with the "Recents" screenshots in android. When the app is exited and the "Recents" button is clicked (the 3rd screen button other than home & back) it shows a screenshot of the last screen of the app which shows everything in the Moneydance app and defies the privacy concerns. This is well taken care of in Quicken and they show a white screen no matter where you exit the app from. Fix this and until now everything else seems good

Shame this so bad. I thought it was going to be good to be able to synchronize with the desktop app but if this keeps crashing with the message "unfortunately moneydance has stopped" and the only way to get it to work is uninstall and reinstall, that is more trouble than it is worth. Back to something that actually works I guess.

S70%

Crashes upon opening every time, opens on 2nd launch. Also creates ghost entries on the desktop which is annoying and only occurs on the android app, not the ios one. These issues are taking a long time to resolve. UPDATE: Those 2 issues fixed on latest update. Working much better now.

1. crash frequently while launching; 2. data sync not accurate, miss records often. They should provide more stable robust app as mobile client for such a good financial desktop application

Good extension of Money Dance. It's to problematic for data entry, but quick reference is great. Based on the way I enter upcoming transaction the app is great reference capable. Keep up good work.

Manage money on the go for the best cross platform personal finance app. Plus extra marks for fixing the long standing amount sync issue. I am now in control of my cash again!

I love the desktop version but the android app is sorely lacking right now, it is literally only for recording transactions on the go. The feature I would most love to see is budgeting so that my wife or I can see how much we have to spend in a category and not be in front of the desktop.

S70%

It asked for access to Dropbox so can access computer moneydance files. However says no folders there when there is definitely folders. If I can't get it to recognize/sync with existing files it's a waste of space. Would be zero star if I could!

Worked perfectly for a week. Now, it won't even open. Uninstalled and reinstalled - fails to sync on initial start up, and won't restart when I try to go back in. Frustrating!

Great app for on the go and pairs well with the desktop version. I haven't experienced any of the crashing issues that other people have mentioned, but I wish that the app included graphs and charts.

Still having stability issues, but better. Wish it would sync Bill reminders. That it's the one feature I really miss that Handybank supported.

I really like Moneydance on my Windows 10 PC. It is easy to use and does everything I need to track my finances. This app supports it really well and is so useful for keeping up to date with credit card transactions when I am away from home. The support team are helpful and responsive and now that a syncing issue has been fixed, it works perfectly. Highly recommended.

Updating to 5 stars for fixing the amount sync issue with android 5.0. Amounts sync perfectly now. This app now works on my galaxy Note 3 for entering transactions. Thanks.
