For a centuries old newspaper that should be in touch with everything in the city, it's more an overly Anglo, west island news source. This coming from a montreal Anglo raised in Hudson that now lives downtown. It gets the big news... I guess, but don't expect much more if you care about what's happening in the rest of the city. As for its national and international news... There are better apps.

IT DOES NOT UPDATE ITS NEWS STORIES. IVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ARTICLES SINCE THE 31ST OF LAST MONTH. THIS JUST KEEPS HAPPENING. IM DELETING THIS APP AGAIN AND NOT REDOWNLOADING IT AGAIN THIS TIME. I USED TO LOVE THIS APP. NOW YOU JUST DONT WANT TO SEE IT

It was working fine, until it stopped refreshing, showing articles 3-4 days old in some sections

This news app. Does what it says and is very user friendly. Lots of Canadians hockey news as well. I would like to see a paid version with no adds. I would give 5 stars for no adds.

Dear Gazette, It is with sadness that I must point out to you that your app has stopped working properly since you came out with a new and "improved" version. I liked this one fine. It did what it was supposed to do until recently. Now I only get a paragraph of each news story. I tried to download the "new" app but can not tell which one it is (there are 2 besides this one) and each has very poor reviews from actual users. Now I am no techie, but I would gladly assume the decision-making from those of you who are deficient in such areas. I can only guess that the salary is reasonable, but the most important thing is that I CAN DO A BETTER JOB THAN WHO EVER YOU HAVE NOW!

Going from a material design to this is a huge step backwards! Since the old app stopped working I think I'll have to switch to another news app

Too many permissions required by app, that make it into more of a snoop than a news app. It's an invasion of privacy, and I couldn't even turn off the notifications. I uninstalled it.

The Gazette's requirement that readers use Facebook commenting is absolutely wrong. Contrary to what you may think, not everyone is on Facebook, nor does everyone WANT to be. Facebook's ever-changing privacy policy is lacking, which is primarily why I cancelled my FB account - I don't trust them. There are many options for user commenting on the web; Facebook is one of the worst. Please reconsider this mistaken choice.

Quick an easy access to all the news

The full screen advertisements are getting ridiculously annoying and intruding. Ruins the experience of looking at the news

Keeps crashing!

Almost a year with QHD screen and still no photos in stories. Naturally advertising appear without issue.

I started using this app on my Galaxy Nexus a few years ago. The app was Ok and did it's job according to the standards back then. As I installed updates, the app got worse and worse. Now it looks like an iPhone app patched up to be used on Android. Picture captions appear within the article, there are odd looking broken links and now pictures don't even appear on the S6 edge. I find that there's lack of investment for us android users. Fix your app or lose out to your many competitors. So disappointing!

This app works very well despite other comments its a quick way to get the news without harming the environment as much.

For some reason the Gazette has made a conscious decision to omit Montreal Canadiens stories. I am making a conscious decision to uninstall.

Prior to the Gazette "new" slower app. This was my main news app. New the latest updates gone. And all the stories only show first few lines. Way to go The Gazette, you took a good app and made it worse

Only seeing first 5, 6 lines of articles. Loved it until it started doing this.

Same problem as others. Only first 5 lines appear for each article. Can we get someone to acknowledge this is a problem?

Since the update of the app I can only read the first 5 lines of an article on my tablet. Interestingly enough on the smart phone the app works fine.

Is this supposed to be a subversive push to make us buy the full content? We get a headline and a couple of phrases and that's it?

Only the first paragraph comes up when your trying to read a story. It's a mess.

Unless you like skimming through the first few lines of an article to get your information, this new app is useless. Very unhappy and will be looking for a new app to get my information. I am surprised it still has not been fixed.

Can't get more than 3or4 lines of the story, is this the new platform that "readers on the go and skimmers" are supposed to enjoy?

Hasn't updated in 2 days because they released their other app

App is not great, it has not updated news stories in 3 days on my phone Not practical. Rating of 2 was given until this is fixed. As it stands the app is useless and is being deleted until this has been resolved, if it is resolved

Way fewer articles and sections. Hate the alerts which you can't turn off. Will be removing it Pronto.

I want to read the world news and national news but it's not showing the full article. Isn't that the point of a newspaper? To read the details? You only read the first paragraph. I downloaded "La Presse". Even if it's in French, I get to read more things than what The Gazette presents.

Could use some optimisation for newer devices.

I wished though that it would support landscape and also the size of the font for the news headings. I'm willing to pay for this but not the way it looks.

This is an excellent app, provides exactly the content I want in a well laid out format, doesn't nag for ratings, and demands absolutely no extra permissions, unlike every other news app I looked at in my informal, 5 minute search.
