Features:
✔ Scan for open and free WiFi networks, possibility to filter the paid Hotspots and automatically connect to free networks (defined under settings).
✔ Auto connect once the network is found - you just have to unlock the phone and start surfing, no need to manually connect.
✔ Choose whether to be notified only if there is a free Hotspot available (no cost, no VPN login, web page logins required etc.). Eg: places like Starbucks or airports, to name a few, require confirmation of terms via login page - disable the "internet only" checkbox to find such hotspots!
✔ The app will scan and look for the best signal and the best free WiFi network in range and notify you only if there is a working Internet connection (hence the Internet permission the app asks for - the app connects through the found WiFi network only and doesn't use your data plan!)
✔ Set up the time interval between each scan (preserves the battery if you walk slowly)
✔ Set up a timeout period and whether to turn WiFi off after the scan timeouts (preserves the battery).
✔ Enhanced notification system for - normal notification, sound,vibration, LED (if available on the device).
✔ Once connected you will see the Signal strength and SSID name of the network in your notification bar with direct link to the wifi settings page on your android device (press on the notification message).

I like the filter to filter out paid spots from truely free wifi. But the ringtone (ringing) till u pull notification bar down sucks , it should only notify for 3 to 5 srconds. Thr more my phone rings the more battery it uses..I have ears only a quick 3 second ring tone is required ...I shouldn't have to keep pulling out my phone to shut the stupid tone off. Plus a map would be nice to pin point places. This app could be worth more money if more time was put into it. As is it is worth the money spent.

the scanner works quite nicely so why one star? it's the terrible drm: I bought this app legitimately but it wants license checks all the time. due to my work I regularly wipe my android device and restore my apps. what happens is that when I start this app on the go, it wants to check the license. which is of course impossible because I'm not online. why would I want to use this app otherwise? the drm renders this app completely useless for me and is really frustrating. it's a bad way to treat customers.

Found it useless after using it for 20 days in the east coast; it seems to scan too slowly for any reasonable walking pace and I couldn't get Internet even once using this app. And a couple of times I was alerted of an open, functioning wifi hotspot by chance, looking at the screen at the right moment when Android's notification poped up, BEFORE this App alerted me. The whole concept doesn't work, at least with my phone (a Razr HD, which was state of the art 18 months ago). Maybe with newer, faster phones it could work. This seems in all likelyhood a waste of money for mostly everyone.

An essential wardr*v*ng tool. I am disappointed that with headphones in the notification alarm doesn't sound discreetly in my ears but sounds in both headphones AND the speakers.

Doesn't work on my Google Nexus 7 tablet. This application doesn't run as an Android Service so when your screen dims Open WiFi Scanner stops scanning altogether. The fact the developer didn't implement as an Android Service indicates a bad experience. I do not recommend this application for anyone and my rating is zero. If I could get my money back I would want a full refund.

While overseas I proudly whipped out this app to find hotspots, and it needed to connect to Google Play to verify the license. How exactly would I connect to Google Play if I don't have data yet? It wouldn't run as it failed the license check due to no data, and I was stuck overseas without a connection. STUPID. ANGRY.
