About NFC for Hue

Changing the state of your light bulbs could be cumbersome (unlock the phone, open app, find light settings - turn on/off)

Please note that the app has been tested with the original Hue light bulbs - due to current lack of support from the manufacturer we are not able to obtain Lux, Lightstriprs or other Friends of Hue products.
We will update this if we can test on these bulbs. Please take this into consideration when buying and reviewing the app. Thank you!

What if you can use the NFC chip available on your device to predefine specific NFC tags and use your phone as an on/off switch with the added option to automatically change the color and brightness of your Philips™ Hue bulbs or group of bulbs by waving your phone over a NFC tag?

You have found the right app to do exactly that, here are the features:
1. Choose NFC tags to change the light state of your Hue bulb
2. Setup groups of Philips™ Hue bulbs and predefine NFC tags to toggle specific groups for faster setup (NFC tag for Party, Relax, Reading etc.)
3. Notifications: Change bulb state on status bar notifications - missed calls, missed SMS, missed facebook/whatsapp/skype messages or any other app installed on the device. You can predefine which app do you want to trigger the notifications for.

Permissions:
1. Internet - to connect to the bridge and bulbs
2. NFC and External Storage - for the NFC tag/operations
3. Accessibility - turned off by default, needed for the status bar notifications on devices with Android prior to 4.3 JB

The app is not a product of Philips™ and we are not affiliated with Philips™. Usage of trademarks in accordance with the company and their respective terms has been granted by Mark Mesman

I upgraded to the pro version, but it won't get past the connecting to bridge screen. The apps free version worked fine for me, but I would like the utility of multiple tags. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app a couple of times as well as doing it all with and without the free version of the app installed on my phone, but the pro version cannot connect to my bridge. I am using a Google pixel and a second gen hue bridge. I would really love to be able to use NFC tags around my house as light and scene switches! Please fix this connection issue and get us this awesome feature for hue lighting!

I paid 1.8€ for nothing, it wont even connect to my bridge. Keep your hands off

Won't connect to my bridge at all. All other apps work fine with my bridge. If you can't fix this, I'll be requesting a refund. UPDATE: I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY BACK

This app is a scam, does not work and you can't refund. Stay away.

Free version works, paid doesn't

Got sucked into buying Pro as free version worked so well. I cannot get this Pro version to connect to the hub. It'll recognise the hub and prompt to connect (just like free version), but then nothing. The progress bar won't even move to show the timeout is approaching... It just stops.

R70%
by R####:

Had to do a refund because the payed version don't work. It wont connect to the bridge unlike the free version.

X70%
by X####:

I am having the same issue as a previous review. The free version worked fine, but the paid version is not connecting to my bridge. I have restarted both the bridge and my phone with no change. The two stars is for not connecting. When it works I'd give it 5.

Like a lot of other reviewers, I enjoyed the free app. Once I upgraded to the paid app, it always gets stuck on the pairing with the hue bridge.

The contact details for the developer seem to be an invalid email? And still no answer? app now fails to connect to bridge. Very annoyed

The free version works, but this one won't connect to the hue bridge. The progress bar doesn't move. Please fix and I'll update the rating

This all worked on my Galaxy S5, but won't work on my new LG G5. Please fix this. I miss my convenient lights.

Trial works, but pro does not connect to bridge

M70%

Like others, the free version found my bridge and worked well, but the pro version could not.

A70%

After installation cannot connect to bridge.

Y70%

Can't even go on my new hub

X70%
by X####:

I had the free version but it annoyed me when I bought the full version to have to reset up everything. The other missing feature is sharing sets and tags between devices. With 2 cells and 2 tablets for me and my wife means setting up 4 devices for each tag. I have 6 tags. Works reliably.

S70%
by S####:

Hard to understand, hard to use. Even after I set everything up, it wouldn't control the light.

H70%
by H####:

Great, it works well. Just set a new group (aka Scene) how you like your lights to be, and write it to a NFC tag of your choice. I created different groups to write to each of my tags. I think the app could use a brief howto introduction to ensure users aren't rating it badly when it does actually work perfectly. Nb: it worked with my hue, lightstrips and philips bloom which were already linked to my bridge.

H70%
by H####:

Works sometimes. Have to reset tags all the time, the app keeps reporting NFC tag is not defined but refuses to let me add it because it already exists.. Vicious cycle of frustration.

R70%
by R####:

As far as I can tell this doesn't work with phillips lux bulbs

D70%
by D####:

Setting up the settings us confusing. I still don't know what the brightness is for. And don't understand why is there even light groups since there's no settings associated for them.

N70%
by N####:

This app best suited my needs out of all of the others that control the Hue lights using NFC. It allows me to toggle the lights on and off with a single NFC tag and has been working flawlessly for the set of Hue bulbs. However, the only problem that I've had with it so far is that it is unable to control my Disney Friends of Hue Storylight.

by N####:

It keeps losing the bridge
