About NFC for Hue free

Changing the state of your light bulbs could be cumbersome (unlock the phone, open app, find light settings - turn on/off)

What if you can use the NFC chip available on your device to predefine specific NFC tags and use your phone as an on/off switch with the added option to automatically change the color and brightness of your Philips™ Hue bulbs or group of bulbs by waving your phone over a NFC tag?

Please note that the app has been tested with the original Hue light bulbs - due to current lack of support from the manufacturer we are not able to obtain Lux, Lightstriprs or other Friends of Hue products.
We will update this if we can test on these bulbs. Please take this into consideration when buying and reviewing the app. Thank you!

You have found the right app to do exactly that, here are the features:
1. Choose NFC tags to change the light state of your Hue bulb
2. Setup groups of Philips™ Hue bulbs and predefine NFC tags to toggle specific groups for faster setup (NFC tag for Party, Relax, Reading etc.)
3. Notifications: Change bulb state on status bar notifications - missed calls, missed SMS, missed facebook/whatsapp/skype messages or any other app installed on the device. You can predefine which app do you want to trigger the notifications for.

Permissions:
1. Internet - to connect to the bridge and bulbs
2. NFC and External Storage - for the NFC tag/operations
3. Accessibility - turned off by default, needed for the status bar notifications on devices with Android prior to 4.3 JB

The app is not a product of Philips™ and we are not affiliated with Philips™. Usage of trademarks in accordance with the company and their respective terms has been granted by Mark Mesman

I am using Hue NFC Free with the latest Philips Hue bulbs. The app works extremely well with my tag and makes everything so easy but after 2 days I could not control the lights. The app had lost the bridge. As I could not access the app I uninstalled and reinstalled it and reset the lights. It’s now working again. My WiFi router had stopped a few hours earlier so maybe this had something to do with it. The support email is not working

I like the app. I would like to upgrade to the payed version but it doesn't work so I'm stuck with 1 tag only :(

App crashes every time I receive a text or change networks.

This Free version of the app works perfectly. Unlike the paid version which doesn't allow you to add a bridge. Only problem, it only let's you add 1 tag

Would be great, but limiting user to only 1 tag is a bit much..

We took my teen daughter's Great Wolf Lodge bracelet and turned it into a light switch for her room. Now she just unlocks her phone and taps the tag to toggle her lights from off to pink and back again. She loves it!

M70%
by M####:

It crashes whenever I go to choose a light in light groups. I should probably mention I'm using lux lights.

Q70%

it will change Philips hue bulbs but not the hue light strips. Works well with the bulbs though.

Tap your phone to an nfc tag to turn on the lights in your room. Only downside is the phone has to be unlocked. But I've heard rooting fixed that. Great app.

Great app! Smartphones are always in the pocket, I find this app as useful as the Philips hue tap switch. I'm planning to hide NFC tags behind regular light switch plates and other strategic places ;) What's the difference between free and pro versions? Greetings from Mexico ^_^

Great, it works well. Just set a new group (aka Scene) how you like your lights to be, and write it to a NFC tag of your choice. FREE VERSION: You can only use one tag. I paid the small amount to use as many as i like. Nb: it worked with my hue, lightstrips and philips bloom which were already linked to my bridge.

Constantly losing the bridge. Most times I just use the stock app because of this.
