CBC Olympic Games VR

I like the 360 view, but the cardboard VR is very low resolution, so it doesn't feel too immersive. It's more of a novelty thing. It was cool to watch a few minutes of the opening ceremonies with cardboard, but the lack of detail made it hard to really appreciate.

I use a Google cardboard setup with a LG G4 but it works good just in 360 mode too. It's like you are there; so no zoom in or playback or slow motion. Pretty much all the reviews that say it crashes have phones with processors that aren't good enough. I recommend at least 6 cores or more for smooth watching. I do wish that I could use that cardboard view with any camera angle but so far it just goes to the main camera angle every time I press the cardboard button.

Amazing app. Beautiful 360° video and live streaming with super smooth head tracking in Cardboard mode. The one big negative is that there are no navigation functions or controls within Cardboard. IE you have to take the phone out to change feeds. Fix that and it's a five star app.

As technology changes just think in 8 years you will not have to leave your house to get the full Olympic experience. 3 stars as their is a lot more that can be done. It is on the right track.

I feel like I'm right in the middle of the action. The sprinters ran right past me, then I looked around and the high jumpers were running right at me. So much fun!

crashes when first started. no video will play in vr mode ( black screen). or just spins and doesn't play. useless..

When I select play, I keep getting errors and it only spins. I have very high speed.

Tried watching an event, 5 minutes later still waiting. Nice try CBC, no surprise that you failed yet again.

This has nothing to do with the app itself but the equipment on site, but it's too bad they didn't use paired sensors for the VR cameras to recreate a 3D stereo effect. When using a VR headset, the image is really flat and isn't as immersive as it can be.

Seems like a cool idea but it's not functional with my device. I keep getting a decoder error when trying to start a video

It crashes on me approximately once a minute, and the view often jumps and jerks when turning even slightly.

It says I'm watching live, but the video cuts from scene to scene, as if it's a post even recap. Sensors are also finicky, and even when holding my phone upright, the screen shakes, or doesn't rotate with me.

Errors all the time and decoder failure. Too bad. Tried it on two phones and a tablet and nothing. Why advertise this if all the bugs are not worked out

It's messed. Shows videos sideways in either orientation vertical or horizontal. But controls too are off and then don't follow screen. Unusable.

It either reports an error, does nothing (white screen) or does the spinny icon thingy... forever. I gave up. Removed App.

I keep getting a long error code before a video opens and then when i download the video i am still unable to watch it

Now I can see Canada kickass in 360 Virtual Reality!

Shows an error after 2 seconds of playing. After that plays the same video no matter what I click on.

When I hold my tablet in a horizontal position, it displays a vertical image. When I hold in a vertical position, it displays a horizontal image. 90 degrees off the mark and unwatchable.

It doesn't allow from multiple angles and most events are shown so small. Not worth it

It's a great idea but fails to load anything in Cardboard mode. Thanks for trying.

On Nexus 6p while viewing.

Looks like a nice idea but it's not in the correct orientation.

I am able to view without glasses or cardboard if I relax my eyes until there is a third image produced in the center.

This app keeps crashing when I try to enter it.

This app only functions as a phone heater.

It's cool but the resolution isnt great. Fun way to watch the Olympics.

I mean this is new stuff for the public. I thought it was kinda of nice of them to do this. I am grateful for the free offer

Appears to be the way to go, find out when the games start, so 4 for now.

I sure hope it gets fixed and works for track and field tomorrow.
