About Auto Haptic Widget

UPDATE: This widget is NOT compatible with Android 4.3 or higher (We tried, but the most recent versions of Android do not allow access to the controls necessary to provide this fix). We’ve notified the OEM of the issue, but currently, this Auto Haptic Widget will only work with Galaxy S III handsets with Android versions prior to 4.3.

This widget is designed to address an issue with certain Galaxy S III handsets that have updated to Jelly Bean. Users who have not upgraded to Jelly Bean do not need to install this application, as the Auto Haptic Feature can be managed through the standard device settings (Settings/Sound/Auto Haptic).

Auto Haptic allows users to automatically incorporate low-power tactile effects in downloaded applications to enhance mobile gaming. With the recent update to Jelly Bean some handsets have lost the “Settings” menu controls for the Auto Haptic feature. This widget is a universal ON/OFF control for Auto Haptic which allows users to enable or disable tactile effects for all downloadable applications. After installing this widget, please reboot your device.

This Auto Haptic widget does not impact the tactile effect settings for other device functionality, such as alerts and keyboard tactile feedback.

It is anticipated that the “Settings” menu will be restored with full functionality to enable Auto Haptic at an application level in a future OS update from carriers. At that time, this widget will no longer be needed.

The widget has been tested on both the international OS build and various carriers. At this time the Jelly Bean upgrade of T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon versions of the Galaxy S3 are known to have this problem. This widget has been tested on those platforms. Other carrier versions may have this issue, but the widget has not been tested on those platforms.

I had just gotten Spotify, and I liked the haptic feedback feature, but then it started doing it for every song.. This is what let me keep spotify, not go crazy, and get rid of my ipod. Plus the regular haptic features I like still work!! Very good

I can't believe that Google allowed the haptic settings to be changed. More than one app would buzz while playing music or games. This finally turns it off.

Since the upgrade to Jelly Bean, the auto haptic feature has been driving me insane since it was left on. I couldn't stand listening to music on anything until i found this widget. it worked wonders.

C70%

Well at least this widget lets me disable it, but I would *really* like to have control on a per app basis back! Sucks that you're stuck with whatever settings you had before updating to Jelly Bean. Hopefully we'll see this fixed soon.

Shame on Google for simultaneously breaking and removing the auto haptic setting. This widget came to the rescue.

Does not work with SGS3 which had upgraded to jelly bean (4.1.1) on AT&T. Hopefully they will put out a new version that works with this phone...

It's sad that Samsung and the carriers allowed the update to be pushed out missing the menu option, but thank you soooo much for this quick fix. It ain't pretty, but it works for now. I hope they get the permanent fix pushed out soon.

Followed the developers instructions and it just won't work on my S3 no matter how many times I reinstall or reboot the phone. Junk app, uninstalled.

Installed this hoping to fix the removal of Auto-Haptic settings from my s3. Unfortunately it just crashes when I try to use it. Oh well.

Very much appreciate this remedy for the vendor's mistake, and inability to respond quickly. Thanks for going out of your way to do the right thing! (And bonus kudos for being clear in your description of the situation - clarity is always helpful, and too few people invest sufficient attention...)

My sirius xm app vibrates constantly I hate it. Widget has no effect. Samsung gs3.

My S3 was headed to the landfill over this simple issue. Apps like NFL, Spotify, LiveATC and others would NOT stop vibrating. Unlike everything I was reading online about an "auto-haptic" features to disable under settings/sounds, this is is not on my handset. This wonderful widget solved the issue 100% in seconds. Two notes: 1) You only have to launch the widget once to turn off auto haptic, it does not have to remain in a menu, which is good. 2) If your app appears to continue vibrating, kill it completely under Apps and relaunch. Thanks again!!!

Widget works but it's truly sad that you have to use a third party widget to fix a bug that the carrier should have taken care of on their own. Bad form.
