About Roundel

What do you drive—and why do you drive it?

For some people, a car is merely a form of transportation. BMW drivers know that they’re at the wheel of the Ultimate Driving Machine—and the BMW Car Club of America is the Ultimate Driving Club.

Welcome to the club, you are now among friends: more than 70,000 active members in the United States, making us the largest single-marque car club in the world. Our 67 BMW CCA chapters host a wide range of social, technical, and driving events such as autocrosses, high-performance driving schools, rallies, concours car shows, and Club Racing weekends.

It’s not just about the cars. It’s about the people—like-minded enthusiasts who share a passion for the marque, and whose interests go far beyond the automotive.
Roundel, the Club's national monthly magazine, is filled with BMW-related news, classifieds, event coverage, reviews of current models, tech articles, and columns by notable authors. It’s been called “the best damn car-club magazine on the planet” by Car and Driver, and it may soon become your favorite publication.

Roundel Magazine is one of the many benefits of membership in the BMW Car Club of America. Members of the Club are eligible for exclusive vehicle rebates, discounts on BMW parts and service, admission to members-only events, and full access to exclusive website content—including forums, galleries, and classified ads.

If you are as enthusiastic about driving your BMW as we are about ours, then this is your Club. Join the Ultimate Driving Club by visiting bmwcca.org today!

Droid Razr Maxx: When I open a download copy of the magazine I can only view a 20x20 pixel portion of the magazine. The rest of the screen is black. This occurs for both landscape and portrait orientation. During the transition of changing orientation the entire magazine briefly shows but when it settles in the new orientation it goes back to 20x20 pixels. With this issue it is useless.

I was excited to see a nice digital copy of the Roundel come to Android, however the app seems to lag in performance. Swiping between pages, even on a Nexus 10, was painfully slow.

Application has no ability to use any amount of my more than 20GB of free shared storage. Instead app plus approx 200MB per issue chews up a large percentage of the faster internal storage. All this and poor performance too. Pretty close to unusable.

This actually works fine in my environment, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. A little slow to page, but no worse than the Hemmings app, or Performance BMW app. Zinio remains the standard for the best in my opinion. There is one problem that I hope is fixed right away: when you close the app, it doesn't keep up with the page you were reading, and instead returns you to the cover. That's really stupid, a major fail. Please fix it! I'm also not fond of the decision to make articles and sections such as letters scroll up and down instead of side to side, like every other reader I use. I keep forgetting and page forward instead. Of course, when I page back, it goes back to the top of the article instead of the page I was reading - see above. Once I discovered that the faint dots at the lower right are the visual cue that you can page down, and also show the count of pages and where you are in the article, I relaxed a bit and got used to it pretty quickly. All in all, if they will fix the problem about retaining the page you were on, I'd probably be willing to get the Roundel in digital format only. It will save the club a bit of money, and I prefer reading on my tab anyway.

Ah ha! You scroll right to left for the next article. To read the current article, you scroll down to up. I don't know how to return to the table of contents without restarting the issue. There should be a special menu option to go directly to my stories... I had no performance issues.

This app caused my browser to slow to a snail's pace. And suck power from my nook hd. Zinio is the best magazine app I've used. As a long time Roundel reader, I wanted to try the digital version.
