About Squeaky Mail

This is an email client derived from the popular, open source application K-9 Mail. Squeaky Mail integrates with PGP KeyRing, a crypto provider, empowering you with safe and simple email encryption services based on the PGP standard. Squeaky Mail has full support for both inline and PGP/MIME messages. If you are a user of PGP KeyRing, this email client will integrate seamlessly just as K-9 Mail does with APG. Both the trial and full versions of PGP KeyRing are supported.

* PGP/MIME support is only available with the PGP KeyRing provider (version 1.7 and above)
* The entire message must first be downloaded before Squeaky Mail will recognize it as a PGP/MIME message
* Includes support for non-Western character sets

The source code for Squeaky Mail can be accessed by visiting the Website, or simply go to: https://github.com/imaeses/k-9

NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPER: There is a bug in Enigmail 1.7 that incorrectly fails to verify PGP/MIME signatures. (See: http://sourceforge.net/p/enigmail/bugs/332/) The nightly build may contain a fix, although it's not guaranteed to be stable. (https://enigmail.net/download/nightly.php).

Auth encryption please...

Deserves zero stars. Really, only pgp keyring. Stick with K-9 everyone!!

I'd love to rate it higher but the PGP/MIME support that makes it unique is only compatible with the author's unique GPG keyring program, and that program doesn't recognize .asc key files. Plus, why duplicate the many excellent gpgprograms that are out there now?

Few problems.

Made a simple test: tried to decrypt/verify emails containing Cyrillic in KOI8-R. - Both APG and PGP KeyRing fail to either decrypt a message (I see quiestion marks) or verify the signature (truth be spoken, K9 is affected by exactly the same bug) - Colours in HTML messages are distorted - The program fails to even display signed PGP/MIME and S/MIME messages in plain text format (K9 is more correct in this regard) - The program fails to interpret MIME Quoted-Printable in signed PGP/MIME and S/MIME messages in HTML format (again, K9 doesn't have this bug). Given the above, PGP KeyRing is totally a waste of money, and I wish I could get a refund. I'm migrating to R2Mail2. Squeaky Mail needs a lo-o-ot of work before it can be relied upon.

thanks for the pgp/mime integration... this is really wonderful... k9 is also a rock solid choice for a fork... very good overall

I haven't used a more reliable email app. It has not failed once. The options for customization are more than sufficient. One problem, though: Can't view messages in Dark theme.

K-9 Mail, from which Squeaky Mail is forked, supports OpenPGP (AGP and Open Keyring). Was that functionality removed to force purchase of PGP Keyring?

Aside from the dark theme making your emails unreadable, this app works great. Integrates well w/ pgp.

Worked oringally, after I revoked a key and created a new one it stopped working. Now using R2mail2.
