What are users saying about Discover TV by Radio Times

Z70%
by Z####:

The app has been quite unreliable for me. I often have to stop and restart it. The recommendations are the main thing I use it for. They can seem a bit uninspired, but they are sometimes useful.

G70%
by G####:

I loved this app until recently, when it failed to save my new addition to the watch list, as well as removing another item from it. This fault continued for a couple of weeks, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. This made matters worse because I'd then lost my previous settings, including regional channel. Tried signing in, and as plenty of others have found, this doesn't work either. Please fix this bug.

A70%
by A####:

For several weeks now the app hasn't allowed me to save programmes to my watchlist and now I can't sign in because their system is unavailable due to an 'error'. Could be a brilliant app... if Radio Times ever get it working again.

I70%
by I####:

Switching between TV and Radio changes the channel numbers but not the programme information ie I have Bargain Hunt on Radio 1! Can't locate the search function. Could the deveolpemtn team please advise where to find it?

A70%
by A####:

Absolutely awful. Crashes almost every single time I have tried to use. Scrolling list is terrible, not smooth, move sideways more than it does up and down. 50% of the time when select an item in list it opens wrong item. A high school pupil would make a better job than this big pile of rubbish... truly awful app.

K70%
by K####:

And I've tried a lot. Unless each update makes it worse (as happened with the app I persevered with for far too long), I think I'll be sticking with this one. So far, the grid view seems reliable, the channel selection stays saved (you do need to sign in, but it's worth it), and the additional programme data is often very comprehensive, and quick to appear. And it has radio schedules!

K70%
by K####:

Great when it's working but prone to glitches. I regularly find it won't load whole a whole chunk of schedule data and I have to shut it down completely (through settings) then restart. Also logging in often doesn't work.

K70%
by K####:

But this mobile app is worse. No freeview channel numbers, slow, poor navigation. And many more gripes. Uninstalling and ill stick to the web version

K70%
by K####:

Still useless for radio as keeps showing TV programmes against radio channels. Have reported this several times over many months but the developers don't seem bothered to fix it. And it is from "Radio" Times.

K70%
by K####:

When I scroll the TV listing time the programmes seem to become stuck on the left edge at 30min intervals with subsequent programmes over printing on the previous programme, it's weird, make the programmes scroll OFF to the left. The listing screen isn't compact enough, too much wasted space. Programme info is good but way too slow to load. Going back to Feersum.

K70%
by K####:

Gave it a go but not particularly impressed. The way the timeline slides around as you try and scroll through channels to see what's on at a given time is very annoying. I didn't really like the overall layout either. I think I'll stick to occasionally buying the actual RT magazine and using the Sky+ guide when on devices.

K70%
by K####:

I thought it was great at first then it starting freezing/not showing times and generally taking far too long to find out what was on and when. Needs some more work to get it useful. I now use a different app but I can still flick through a TV paper quicker.

L70%
by L####:

Useless. Simply won't load full listings page. Not my phone - it's brand new!

K70%
by K####:

used to be good. couldn't recommend the latest version.

Y70%
by Y####:

Was working fine then stopped working giving the above choices. I uninstalled then reinstalled and same issue. Only downloaded it as it lists Spike on freeview ch 31

K70%
by K####:

Impossible to use abroad, time bar shows local time ,therefore, the start times of next programme is not shown. Suggest you scrap it and start again

K70%
by K####:

Brilliant app for tv listings and summary reviews. Great interface showing timings and programmes. Impressed! Some reviewers appear to have experienced problems with the app but it works perfectly for me.

K70%
by K####:

I have tried several TV apps - this is by far the best. Always up to date, nice interface and good information - and without any intrusive gimmicks or social features: great if you just want to know what is on TV!

H70%
by H####:

Seems completely pointless as an app. No search function or reminders, can't see my watchlist, and what's the point of having favourites if you can't access them all in one place? Just a glorified TV listings guide. Oh, and no reply to my help desk enquiry sent 3 months ago.

V70%
by V####:

Interface optimised for phone screens so rather clunky on a tablet. Tends to open prog details when I am scrolling, which is annoying.

F70%
by F####:

As someone else has pointed out does not switch between radio and TV listings

A70%
by A####:

This used to be brilliant as it was the only app that included radio channels. However now there is a periodic bug which , when radio is selected, shows radio channel names, but against TV programmes! This is reproducible on a number of devices.

K70%
by K####:

Very useful guide guide to what's on. Always spots my favourites and sometimes alerts me to something new that I would have missed otherwise.

K70%
by K####:

Wiped phone and redownloaded the app and unable to login. Please fix ASAP as app is now unusable apart from listings

Q70%
by Q####:

I'm not doing anything differently, but after weeks of using it, it's suddenly not initalising at all. Shame, as I was really enjoying using it.

K70%
by K####:

This is a really good free app that allows you to have a version of the radio times with the TV highlights of the day this is invaluable so you do not have to troll through the listings and if you are not sure has a review of the programme. Thanks bbc

U70%
by U####:

I use this app a lot and it's pretty great, but it's very slow and sticky, things on my watchlist aren't always highlighted and listings for some channels are often missing. If these things were fixed it'd be a 5-star app!

U70%
by U####:

Now unable to login, thus save settings etc. Noticed someone else having same problem but no response from developer. Not good.

U70%
by U####:

Great App!!! Has finally saved me from the continued annoyance of thumbing through the ad filled tv guide, only to find no description for the programme I was looking for! Thanks Radio Times!

U70%
by U####:

Sometimes shows I put on my watchlist are not highlighted in the listings view. It spoils what would otherwise be an excellent app. Are you able to fix this and release an update? Thank you

U70%
by U####:

Gave up on "TVGuide" not working properly and installed this one. Just want to know what's on and that it does

S70%
by S####:

This app demands that you create an account and sign in in order to do basic things like configure the channel list. Intrusive or what? Shame, seems OK otherwise. Deleted.

V70%
by V####:

This has improved a lot and runs well on Marshmallow now. I had to uninstall from my old phone. Really a lot more useable thanks and as a result I refer to it a lot. Still better on my iPad though where the bigger screen does the info more justice.

K70%
by K####:

If it did for radio what it does for TV it's 5 star: ie. offer daily Choices, and fix the broken link to BBC iPlayer Radio.

R70%
by R####:

I wish I'd found this app before.( I always have Radio Times, and recently got my mother in law to buy it as she bought a newspaper once a week for TV and she loves RT far more). I like the way the app handles, sliding along the time so you can see lots at once.

U70%
by U####:

Nice layout easy to use would be better to get series notifications from fav programs to calendar or phone. Do this you have 5 star app hands down

U70%
by U####:

A bit slow and crashes sometimes. I wish it would open on full listings straight away! At least it has less ads than other tv guide apps.

U70%
by U####:

"Show more" on a radio listing page does show any more. The side panel that is over half ads, leaving about a quarter page for any info at all. How do you get The Archers episode guide to display?

U70%
by U####:

Like the top ten of the day and the five free movies. Helps me avoid missing the good stuff.

U70%
by U####:

When I scroll the TV listing time the programmes seem to become stuck making it appear that some programmes are hours & hours long. The listing screen isn't compact enough. Going back to Feersum.
