Have gone back and forth, but they keep helping me and these things are quite the nifty trick when working. Love being able to touch a color, and the house turns that color. Is very cool, sometimes challenging and need to work with support. Am still with them, still love having colors instead of boring old white....

Don't be fooled by ilumi's support. They are all over this site providing "help" via email for PR purposes (ooooh look! They're responsive), but nothing they provide works. Turn over in support must be dismal (why would anyone want to provide so much useless help?) The software is among the worst out there especially v2. I have 20 of these bulbs and my frustration has hit its limit. Months of sheer utter frustration. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7

App worked a few times. Now is unusable. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still useless. I'd give 4 stars if the app was functional.

Want to change the color? Hold up 3 minutes while the app connects. Want to dim the light? Hold up 3 minutes while the app connects? Want to do anything at all with the expensive lightbulb you purchased and waited half a year to receive? Wait 3 minutes of your life you'll never get back.

I HAVE OFFICIALLY GIVEN UP ON ILUMI. I've had this bulb for maybe 3 years. And when you pay 80 bucks for a bulb that can do amazing things, like sync to music, change colors and all that, you assume (for 80 freakin' bucks) that it's actually going to do all those things. Well, it really can't do the music thing. AT ALL. I have tried before and there's nothing synchronized about it. Your team should be flagged for using the word "synchronized" for describing random, spastic lighting sequences. And the app itself is honestly a travesty. It is so counter-intuitive and difficult to understand. Create a scene.... You mean setup my light? Why on earth would someone think it's a good idea to describe the bulb's main function as "creating a scene"? And the drop down menu to do ANYTHING. Like, who on earth designed this thing? Why can't you find my bulb anymore? So many questions. And honestly, GOOD LUCK if there's a firmware update. The amount of times the color randomly changes during these updates is ridiculous. You WILL GO BLIND if you don't leave the room your bulb is in... or maybe have a seizure.

Ilumi app unable to find device after 5th use. Reinstalling didn't work, removing and unpairing device didn't work. Light bulb now unusable. Absolutely atrocious app. Returning for refund.

App doesn't work for very long. Very unreliable. Just spend more money and purchase the Hue lights instead of this worthless POS.

Horribly useless app. Uninstalled, will be returning the product.

Well designed, lots of useful features, just needs better connectivity to the bulbs. This version is far preferable to the new app.

Why does it need permission to see my contacts?

Light bulbs keep unpairing and app does not work properly.

Bought a set of these for my house and now just have to use them as if they were a normal bulb. The app can't even find the bulbs most of the time, and if it does connect then I have to wait about 20min before anything I press actually happens, rubbish!

I thought i would try this app and the iluni bulbs, but the app won't connect to My ilumi bulbs. The other ilumi apps works fine but is missing all the features that sold me to buy the bulbs!! I can't use "light your routine", "vacation security", "message signal" and other features that the ilumi lights offer. Any suggestions? I have the Samsung note 5.

There are a few things that I didn't like about this bulb, but over all its a cool product, the music sync isn't really all that synced so maybe work on that. I like the darkness in between light flashes too, gives a colored strobe affect. Also, under expiriences, you should have a strobe option, that's like the biggest party light. I think that would be very beneficial, but like I said, overall it's a cool product

The app is great! The only problem that I have at the moment is that sometimes the shake to turn on/off detection doesn't work, despite the app being open in the background. To fix this I usually have to open the app again and it works for a while again.

App hardly works and crashes constantly. I only turn the lights on or off though a switch because the app is completely unreliable. Bought six bulbs. Wish I only bought static colored bulbs instead. Would've saved myself heaps of stress and money.

I bought this bulb not even 3 days ago and I am truly in love with it. One thing I was hoping for with it though was a setting or feature that cycles through colors without me changing it or playing music. Aside from that it's awesome for college.

This app is so limited it's unreal.. first off .. how about creating a widget, so that it's always active? Every time I have to do something i have to start the app and then wait for it to connect, by then I could have just turn off the switch and back to get it to come on. Also, I've seen the ability to cause the lights to change color when you get a text message.. but that isn't in the app. All in all, it seems like this app has just been abandoned. Great potential, great let down. **Update New app was released and I have looked it over. Nice new look, but many features are not working yet. Why release an app thats only 25% complete? Also, I understand your concerns with the widget idea, heres a better one, How about a windows app to control the lighting? Then you can program the the lighting easier and I would love to be able to say "Computer ... dim lights by 25%" and hearing a woman say "Affirmative"

my iPhone app works fine but this one is awful. I actually had an interview for this position and I was not selected. I know I would not publish an app that does not work on a significant % of Android phones/versions.

I cannot delete the first ilumi I purchased from either this app or the new app. I have returned it for a new one now I have an extra light that I don't have nor can I remove on the apps. Seems like an easily overlooked issue. I can't be the only one with this problem.

Sorry, completely disagree with the approach this dev took with permissions. Why do you need access to my microphone if I'm not using the music feature? Why do you need my location if I'm not using features that use that? Why is there a service always running on my phone?

the shake on and off doesn't work. the light come on, but won't shake off. it totally defeats one of the biggest reasons that I bought this light. also, the light show is very spotty and could use A LOT! of work

Every time I open the app it freezes at least I had one phone able to connect to it before...Obviously I live in a house with more than one person but I'm the only person who can control the lights. I send the access code link to my bf and nothing happens. Fix this.

Well, it's May and there's still no new shiny Ilumi app. The Ilumi team initially announced to launch a new app that will work in November 2015. If you go to their website it still says "Coming this April". Very disappointed about their "lag".

Absolutely love this product, bought everyone on my Christmas list these and they love them too. Had some problems with one bulb connecting to app but other then that works perfect. If for any reason you do run into problems the ilumi tech support team is very reliable and quick to respond.

I'd planned on outfitting my whole house with these bulbs because they are wicked awesome. To my dismay, the app functions so poorly I cant even use the 1 bulb I have... It sits there like a pain LED bulb. $70 almost completely wasted. I'll try the new app but it is as poorly rated as this one. :( So disappointing.

Like many others have stated, half the functions on the app doesn't even work. This includes how slow the app connects to the lightbulb, the UI of the app is ugly and not at all appealing, and the tutorial barely even helps. I'm saving my receipt just in case it's not fixed, I'm returning my bulbs and getting Lifx. At least their app is appealing to the eye. There is no point I'm having a smart bulb if there's nothing to control it with.

Latest update ver. 1.9 has rendered my light totally useless. And, it also broke the Bluetooth functionality on my Samsung Galaxy S6! When I open the ilumi apk on the phone all my other bluetooth pairings toggle out of control. A force close of the ilumi apk had to be initiated. My bluetooth devices then settled down. I had to uninstall the ilumi apk from the phone. I reset the ilumi and at least for now I can control the light with my Tab 3. I was hoping that this update would've fixed the persistent 'can

Followed the ridiculously vague instructions to the letter. Could not get the light to change color, etc. After initial pairing, the app dropped the connection and cannot pair it again. No amount of suggestions from troubleshooting helped. This light is not worth the price.

Goodness me, just release a working app. A nano second on opening the app... everybody freeze I'm going to crash. Replaced Ilumi with normal bulbs which happen to work exactly the same with the app haha uninstalling bye bye. April 30, still no new app?

How is this rated so low?? I can say the Ilumi app does what its supposed to do well; I've never had a problem with connection.

It's a light bulb. It doesn't even fade from one color to another. You pick a color and thats it. The hot trend is bulbs that change colors. All the buildings in NYC change colors now. You would think this 50 dollar bulb would at least have some kind of fade option. NOT ! The ap is difficult and confusing. There is no simple on off timer. You have to set up an event? All very confusing. It's impossible to just ask it to change color every so often. Anything you think would be simple doesn't exist.

Another firmware update that created another issue. Experiences no longer work. Was using it as an alarm to wake up and was enjoying it. Now it's just a bulb I can hopefully turn off from my phone and once it's off usually won't connect again

I don't believe I have ever given a bad review but this app is just so terrible I had to The experiences don't work when I turn them on they show they r on then when u return to the app they r off again it only sometimes stays on. Connecting to this lightbulb is terrible too sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to connect and if that doesn't work I have to hard reset it. Also if u think I'm being unfair I gave this company 1 year since I bought it hoping something about it might work well but nope

Lightbulb is impressive. The app is complicated. Has too many options where there shouldn't be (if torch and shake are ad-hoc functions, why set a timer?) So far I've tried Misfit's Bolt and the Ilumi and I can say that if your two companies had a baby bulb, it would be the smartest, most beautiful bulb out there.

Update - Works fine now, still a slow experience and app lags terribly 3-17-2016. After lastest update/firmware won't even connect to the app, so now is just a regular lightbulb that I can not use with the app at all until the app or whatever the problem is fixed. It starts the app, then force closes.

It would be so awesome if there was a rotating colors option. There are so many easy things that can be done to bring fun functionality that are simply left out. I'm sure you've brainstormed these. Now please do ALL of it!!! Release a second app if you want to keep this one simple. But please, my light is in your hands. Make it infinitely awesome and it will sell itself to guests!!

I JUST bought these light bulbs last night and they would be amazing if the freaking app would work. I tried to update the firmware 12 times, but the app kept crashing. It finally updated and the app does a force close whenever you touch anything. I can't keep the thing on for more than a minute. This morning the light bulb just turned itself off without any reason. Potential is great actuality is a frustrating disaster.... **Update - it's been almost two weeks and I have emailed customer support upwards of 5 times and none of my problems have been resolved. I will be returning it to Best Buy. Bad product and bad service.

This bulb is amazing if the app wouldn't make anyone loose their patience. This is one of the worst apps I have encountered in my life. Not intuitive not user friendly too complicate too many tabs not steady slow and ugly. Galaxy s7 cannot even find the bulb.. not compatible with S7

This thing is sweet!!! Installation was a breeze. I was able to pair it with nexgus 7 without any hiccup. I installed three of these and all work without any problem. A little bit of lag when changing color using color wheel and when adjusting brightness, but not too bad. There's always room for improvement, but overall works great! Looking to purchase more in the near future when the price drops like on cyber Monday. Update: this app is completely broke.
