Grill Right for Android
App keeps on stopping. Never connects to the temperature unit. Temperature unit also has troubles, such as inoperative key presses.
It isn't very elegant but it gets the job done.
This app worked great on my Galaxy S4 but when I got my Galaxy S8 I could not make it hook up. Worked at it again months later and it worked. I took the batteries out and then put them in and pushed reset on the the thermometer. I then uninstalled the app, turned off my phone, turned it back on and reinstalled the app. I pushed and held the plus and minus on the thermometer for Bluetooth pairing and then my phone saw it THROUGH THE APP. Hope this helps others.
Pairing had to be done from the app, not the usual way you pair BT devices. Alarm only bros twice! I burnt a tritip last week by about 20 degrees because I didn't hear the tiny little beeps. Also wish the settings for each channel were a bit more obvious but I can live with that. Main thing is the alarm.
You can't connect via the phone's Bluetooth, you need to go into the app settings and connect via the apps Bluetooth once that's done it worked fine
Won't pair from the app or from phone. Have an accurate thermometer, bought this for the blue tooth. Total trash by a company with a formerly great reputation. Too bad ..
App installed fast, and without any problems on my Nexus 6. Was able to pair to it. Use the app to pair, not the Bluetooth settings. Have been able to get test temperatures to the app, but have not grilled with this yet. The device needs an off switch.
Junk I agree with @Cecil Myers A bunch of engineers came up with an app and thermometer that is way too complicated and impossible to understand. Pairing was crazy. And just setting a time and temperature didn't make sense. Now it is running and it won't even tell me the temperature set point on the screen. What? And, will everyone quit using the stupid scrolling selectors in apps that totally suck! I assume they came from iOS.
Can't set temperature. Set it, go back, it's always at 500F. Other than that, seems fine. OS needs better QA dept
Works great for me, can check on the smoker from inside. Just push the plus and minus buttons on thermometer to get into pairing mode
Straight forward and easy to use
This is far from intuitive. The coordination between the thermometer and the app is unreliable. The thermometer itself is some engineers wet dream no doubt, but was it ever tested with actual cooks?
Using this on an LG Volt 2 phone using Android 5.1.1. It is working flawlessly and paired right up. I accidentally closed the app during a cook. I had to re-pair to continue. But it stays functioning when your screen sleeps or you switch to another app. I have an average sized home and I haven't found any dead zones with the Bluetooth.
Doesn't connect with device...... Android KK 4.4.2... bluetooth 4.0... no luck..... junk
Never worked, never connected to device despite my phone seeing it.
Tried it on multiple Android and apple devices, even when flashing, phones could not see the connection. Terrible. Really terrible. It's even difficult just to turn off the device. Fail.
Thermometer works great! The app however needs help. It paired with my note 2 just fine. I am unable to down load the app to a newer tab 3. Strange. The app also uses alot of battery. I lost over 15% battery cooking a roast for an hour or so. seems excessive. Love the thermometer though.
Seems very nice except it crashes every single time I start the timer thru the app.
I originally gave this a rating of one star with a review extolling how tricky it was to work with the app and device. I have since learned that my Bluetooth was dysfunctional. I just bought a new phone and the grill right app is working well. I am really looking forward to doing more work with it on the grill as the weather warms up.
Will only connect once in a blue mood. Unreliable. Real garbage.
This app will not work with any of the devices I tried: (1) Google Nexus 7 with Android 5.1 and Bluetooth 4.1. (2) Samsung Galaxy S3 mini with Android 4.1.2 and Bluetooth 4.0. (3) Samsung Galaxy S1 with Android 4.4.4 and Bluetooth version unknown (4) Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Tablet with Android 4.4.2 and and Bluetooth 3.0 (5) Noria 7 Tablet with Android version and Bluetooth version unknown. It is listed as incompatible with all these devices, except one of the oldest, the Samsung Galaxy S1. It installs on the S1 but the Bluetooth will not connect. I have installed numerous apps on these devices, and rarely have any compatibility problems, except for the Noria which is a cheap device. Yes, I understand they say it will not work on a Bluetooth 3 device, but the question is why not? Also, several of the devices have Bluetooth 4. I expect better software development from a company named Oregon "Scientific".

I've had no issues with the Bluetooth pairing with either a Samsung S5 or an S4 but there's quite a few other bugs in the software. For instance, the graph in the history section doesn't scroll or scale so you can only see the first 9 minutes of cooking in a given session. The camera stuff doesn't seem to work as expected and often pops up in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius as specified in the options.
So far, I have completed a Bluetooth connection once. I disconnected that connection and have not been able to connect again. The temp sensor seemed to work although, we compared temps to a tried and trusted device here and found a substantial difference in measurements... this device measured temps more than 20 degrees less than the other device. In short, still in the market for a good bluetooth meat thermometer.
This is exactly what I would be looking for, if it worked! My android phone has Bluetooth 4.0 , but device would not pair under any (and I tried) circumstance . Too bad. Thank goodness I bought it on amazon. Back it goes.
It seems that you need to pair using the app. My experience has also shown that I need to keep my fingers on the "+" and "-" until the pair is complete. After getting over the pairing problem, the app does not stay synced with the device: sometimes clicking start does not initiate a start, it will show "overcooked" when still below the threshold, it will frequently change from started to stopped, no alarm on the app either. Otherwise the ui looks good and send well designed.
Device Bluetooth would not pair to any of my Android or Apple devices.
If you want to pay for a high priced single channel ( you have to purchase the second probe and it is always our of stock. It has been over 4 months) back to the inability to get a consistent like to the thermometer. It takes many tries to get it to shut off by the buttons. Usually I get frustrated and pull the batteries, lucky if you can get it in 4 tries.
Works standalone but the bluetooth connectivity is absolute rubbish. Under these circumstances and if you want to use remote possibilities then spend your money on decent hard and software.
