IdealRatings screen 40,000 companies globally to ensure that its financials ratios and revenue derived from non-permissible business activities are compliant with the criteria defined in the rulebook.
- Who defined the screening parameters (rulebook) used by IdealRatings?
AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions). These criteria represent what we’ve seen as the most commonly used rulebook globally, they were deduced by qualified scholars in the Islamic Finance to screen companies that are being evaluated for investment by observant Muslims. IdealRatings do realize however that there is no single standard to determine what is Halal or non-halal, but we determined that this should at least give an initial opinion for individual investors on the final status for certain stocks they might be interested to invest in.
- How frequent does IdealRatings update the database?
IdealRatings is one of the global screening provider in the Islamic Finance space providing service to top-tier instituatons around the globe. Islamic Investor app is being updated on daily basis whenever there’s a new information available about individual companies.

As everyone saying nice initiative but very few companies. I do like how they are rating the popular stocks so people can buy or stay away from them. And from one dev to other pls consider adding searching and burger menu in every page.

Very good initiative. But I realise that it is very limited to the local markets because it works well when using the GPS function. Most of the SGX stocks can be seen (I'm Singaporean). But when I try to bypass the GPS function and access other markets like the LSE, they won't show any UK stocks but instead the pre-default handful US stocks. Please fix this because most investors would be interested to look at more than just their local markets.

It's good app, and I like the concept of it, but almost everything is outdated, the Halal stocks could turn to be Haram stocks from quarter to quarter, that means they have to update the financial statements for each single company to make sure that the investor is in the safe side.

Great concept. However, there are a few flaws: 1) Not all the equities in my local market (Kenya) are covered/evaluated. 2) The concept of purification is not explained well enough. You should explain it the way you have explained the rules for screening the stocks. 3) UI needs to be improved. 4) Why do I need to declare my dividends in USD? Why can't I declare them in my local currency i.e. KES?
