iLovecraft "Immersive Book". for Android
I have been a fan of all things Lovecraftian since my late teens. I am now 36 and this app has breathed new life into a few of his short stories. If you're a fan of Lovecraft just get it you wont be dissapointed. If you've never had the pleasure then I'd also recommend it as a good introduction to a truly great horror writer.
If you are reading Lovecraft for the first time, this is a great introduction. The art is gorgeous and the music is perfect in setting up the eerie mood. Has some legitimate jump scares. Wish the second story was longer. But, I would still recommend this. Don't forget to play around with the images and use earphones for the full effect.
These apps make the stories come alive. Very impressive artwork, animations, and art direction. I'd like to review the other apps from this publisher. Really amazing so far. For those who don't like to read, this will make it fun. For those who love to read (such as myself), you will be amazed at the technology involved in enhancing your experience. Page by page, the music adapts, fonts and typesetting change (in a very good way).
I really enjoyed this method of reading lovecraft. It was quite unsettling and fun to read. My only issue is some of the more interactive animations made it very difficult to turn the page at times. Luckily this was a very rare issue, but when it did happen it was incredibly frustrating and took me right out of the story. I'd have given it 5 stars if it weren't for this.
It was a very amazing experience. Couldnt stop scrolling and interacting with the many elements found in each illustration. The only thing I regret is that I want to read more Lovecraft stories. Was definitely hoping Call of Cthulhu could be somewhere there as a chapter. If you ever release that I'll mpst definitely buy it!
Extremely well thought out interactive designs and artwork accompanied by a fantastic musical score. Loved the atmosphere it created and made me appreciate H.P.Lovecraft's tales even more. My only gripe..I wish that there were more stories. 10/10
An interesting, if somewhat flawed app. Too many random crashes, and unfortunately the font is often too small to read. As others said, much like a super creepy pop-up book! Hopefully the developer can get crashes fixed, and I can RE-rate a 5 star. On Android 6; HTC M9 phone.
Downloaded this and it worked fine, after a few updates it no longer opens. Just loads the intro animation and crashes. I haven't had any response from the creators of this app and feel they have no customer service in place whatsoever.. a refund would have been nice. I recommend that if you like HP Lovecraft it's not worth the download as you will get frustrated that you can't open the union anymore. I only managed to read the first novel. Very disappointing..
This was interesting and the art, animation and sound made them very atmospheric but I can't help but think they would be better if the words were read with a good voice actor. As they are, I only read through them as I knew they were short stories and felt compelled to complete them anyway but they were far from exciting page turners.
Although it is very reminiscent of pop-up child books I can't help but marvel at these detailed, wondrously grotesque illustrations. Alas the book has ended before I could saturate my hungry eyes... I beg of thee! Add more stories.
I hope another Lovecraft collection is in the works, because the 3 stories (the second being very short) left me wanting more! The only problem with the apps themselves is sometimes turning the page is a pain (I resigned to just tapping the bottom corner) and the apps will sometimes stop working all together and shut off. Regardless I love these iBook series; you guys should consider making "choose your adventure" stories in this style. Those would be fun to experience!
They creators continue to produce quality content. Would love to see a longer work like At the Mountains of Madness. Maybe include an achievement system to keep users reading. Also... Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn ;)
The music, animation, and interactive features do bring some of my favorite Lovecraft stories to life. The only complaint is that I wish all his stories were available in this media. I would gladly pay for more.
Loved this but is no longer working since the last update. App crashes after the loading screen, have tried re-installing but same problem. Contacted by email & Facebook but no reply. Using ZTE Grand Max, Android 5.1. Please fix!
The art was well done, the animations brought the stories to life, and the music and sound effects made me not want to turn off the lights. I wish there were more than three stories, though. The Call of Cthulhu or The Dunwich Horror would be great.
My only complaint is there isn't more to see. I definitely desire more from the mind of Lovecraft and the creative vision of the team that obviously loves this genre as much as myself. Great work, hope to see plenty more.
Great app. Scary stuff. If they made an REH Conan collection I'd buy it in an instant. (hint-hint) If you make the notification go away I'll give you 5 stars...for real...please...it's really annoying. I really do love the app though.
Very creative. Wish there was more than just a few stories. The app crashed a couple times, but not a big deal.
Nice idea. Can't tell if it's any good since the font size is too small and not configurable.
It 100% needs more stories. The 3 stories are cool, entertaining, have great artwork, but the lack of stories is what lessens my current review but also keeps me open minded that you might add more. Added that the stories are short, but definitely on the right track, if the content stays the same I would have to give it a 3 of 5 stars.
All the iClassics apps (but especially this HPL and the Edgar Poe ones!) are just brilliant and provide a fresh and highly enjoyable way to rediscover immortal tales, poems, and short stories. Technology enhances the reading experience without getting distracting, leaving intact the genius behind each classic. Get them all to fill your virtual bookshelf and enjoy them wherever you are (at home, during a break at work or at school, commuting, at the park, wherever!)
Maddening and uterly twisted-5☆ even though there's no way to exit the app
The stories and music are great, combined with the animations... When the app actually loads. It often crashes after the initial animation if you close and reopen it. Have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now.
A great audio visual experience. My only quibble is the aspect ratio, its unfortunately squashed on the Nexus 5x, unlike the demo which has it perfect.
Didn't realize I paid 3 dollars for 2 short stories and a 3 paragraph 'story'. Well done and very fun it may be it was difficult to turn the pages sometimes also, the creature that skitters across the screen when the writer first awakens on the decaying beach in Dagon looks eerily similar to the Facehugger from Alien. Aside from that the creature on the second screen with papers bottom left second paper at the end is VERY close toAbe Sapien from HellBoy it's even says 'ichthrya Sapien' I mean come on man.
A great choice for the selection of Lovecraft's short stories. The art style, interactivity and musical composition were very befitting. Unfortunately there needs to be more bug fixes concerning the audio. I'd need to reboot multiple times in order to be able to hear the music clearly. Definitely worth a few dollars, however.
As a big Lovecraft fan I genuinely wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is. The production quality on this is exceptional. The design is fun and can certainly bring out the creepiness when it needs to.
Crash after crash after crash. Could only read The Hound before the app decided it had enough. Reinstalled, same thing. Crash. Crash. Crash on LG G3. Same thing on my tablet Samsung Galaxy Note. Graphics and effects were nice from the few minutes I got to experience but faulty app not worth the download. Save your cash.
The immersion that this app gives you intertwined with Lovecrafts stories give you the utmost experience you are looking for. Take the time, purchase this app, grab your occult artifacts and talismans of warding, then prepare for long nights of fun and fright.
After all the updates now seem to have many notifications but still crashing so never been able to get through it
Pretty awesome, four stars because sometimes the page refuses to turn, and I have to hit the chapter button and manually select the next page. Definitely worth the $$ for any Lovecraft fan.
I would have really loved these stories to be longer, but they are gorgeous and the music totally adds to the atmosphere. If you are a fan of Lovecraft or just an avid reader, you'll truly love this. Casual readers will like it as well.
As a huge Lovecraft fan, it's nice to have visuals to accompany the occasionally dense writing. Can't recommend enough
Great animation and interaction. I enjoyed what little there was I look forward to see other stories.
I finished this brilliantly done story telling experience but was left wanting more. If there are more stories being planned to add to it then I'd be very keen to check them out too
Can't get it to qoek at all. Just gave me the "sorry, this app has stopped message" every time. Reinstalling and reatarting did nothing.
I was expecting more than 3 short stories so in that it was disappointing. Well done, just more of a one off app.
I haven't had any problems yet and it gives a new depth to these stories... and $2 is cheap for this amount of work
I was spooked and horrified by the stories I hope to see more of the collection the hound the window and degon they where all great please i classic more hp lovecraft

I liked these a lot - the graphics and animations, and sounds were good. Music I could live without and ended up switching it off. It may have been my tablet (it's getting on a bit now) but on the Dagon story the music kept swtiching back on - and occasionally everything would pause, like a needle stuck in a groove. Again maybe down to the age of the tablet. Bottom line is I liked them and will recommend them to friends. I got the two i bought at your discounted price but even at €1.99 or whatever they were originally I'd consider them good value.
