FTP Server Ultimate for Android
This hasn't had any networking issues for me or failed on me. The only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is the UI is messy. It feels like some things take far too many taps than needed. Initial setup takes a minute or two. If you want an easy "press this button for FTP" app that works straight out of the box, this is not it. But if you just want an FTP server, this is a solid FTP server, and it isn't too awfully confusing. The UI is an okay exchange for the level of control.
Set it up in sftp server mode. Works fine with Linux sftp command line tool. But when used as a file system, seems ok at first but fails on copying files to server. Xubuntu 12.04 (used "Gigolo" program to set up file system connection). Developer web site pretends this program does not exist, only the modular server (that is not really free) is documented.
Works just fine but doesn't utilize lolipops dialog for SD Card Write Access so can't Ftp files to the card. If i can figure out how to get it to do that 5 stars.
What a dumb app. Runs around in circles. Says create server name, port, then says can't save till add user, so add user and all info then when go back to save server it is blank again. So full out again and when try to save it says must create user first. WTF?
Since Jellybean. Connecting to my phone has been easier through FTP and there is no better application than this one.
I use this to load and edit files to my phone... had never done it before and, though it took me a moment to figure it out, it works great. ..
Installed it on all my devices. Some are rooted some aren't and it works flawlessly on each device
Have used the Pro version for many years, but it does not appear to work under Nougat. Not asking for SDCard access permission. :-(
Haven't needed the developers to help me with anything yet, so I can not say anything in that arena?
Clunky UI. But it has a live log which is useful. SSL didn't work for me.
Does not support mlsd command, or broken implementation of the same. Filezilla shows screwed time.
I use it on my TV box with a static IP address to enable drag and drop file sharing from my phone and laptop. Makes connecting my devices simple and is super reliable. PERFECT!
On my nexus 7 2012, the app uses uses 2.8% to 3.5% of CPU while idling which is a lot for a mobile device and far more than any other process. When you exit the app using the exit button, the CPU usage falls to 2.5%, the app does not stop. It has to be killed on the 'multitasking' page. Looks as if you close the advert on the top of the page, the CPU drops down to zero, could be a bug.
Does exactly what I need it to do, thank you developers.
Much more featured up than most of the little android ftp servers out there.
Basically this works, but SSL option is broken, it won't connect from TotalCommander on PC, or from other Android clients.
I have no write access to the server side SD card. As I understand it lollipop should be able to provide write access but the app needs to support this.
Works well, easy to setup, doesn't look sexy but that's not what it's about
does this app allow to connect to ftp over the internet or same wifi?
... ability to work when phone is running as a WiFi hotspot, please?
Hey! Super app! Just lags a bit at 1st launch
Does not provide copy to SD card. Otherwise I would give it 4 stars
Once set up correctly it works much faster than other apps both in listing contents and transfer of files. Ftp and sftp work but cannot get ftps working using the inbuilt key (no time to make my own key to test). Have to click back button then click yes to save changes, simple save/cancel buttons at the bottom would be preferred. Will pay for full version if these issues are addressed as otherwise is a brilliant app.
- No support or multiple concurrent downloads and download resuming - No option to display hidden files/folders
being able to access my tablet over ftp fixes the issues i have with MTP, although it's not meant for that. MTP ignores hidden file settings, making it impossible to access hidden files/folders from a PC in newer android versions. i set up an FTP server sharing /storage (password protected of course) and now i can access all files/folders again, but with some benefits over UMS: wireless, without unmounting storage on my tablet, and i can access attached USB drives too.
Never thought I would see this for Android, awesome!! Most complete app!!
Seamless functionality and simplistic user interface, even the least educated android user can play without trouble.
Without passive ports configuration it can't be properly used from behind the router, thus almost useless...
Works well and the developer is very responsive.
Even shows hidden files!
would be nice if running servers ip address was visible on main screen, otherwise no complaints
one thing is missing. the extraction of a zip file. please add extract functionally. thank you.
I made it work with dnsexit But it doesn't support the unicode file & folder names ; my arabic files not listed as arabic charaters; but as all it is a really so good and useful application ;) well done
Great interface and very intuitive. I can now access my phone (S4) from my desktop PC using Filezilla. Transferring files, videos, pix to-from is now as easy as drag-n-drop.
It does what it is supposed to do.
Can access my files from anywhere and can set up user with access to select folders to share files too large to email works great for sharing videos with family
setup was easy to follow and connected remote PC straight away... great work.
This is the best that there is, best that there was, and best that there ever will be.
Support to ext. Memory card not working. Shows disk full. Ok for internal memory which limits the ftp server capacity.

Works great on older phone, HTC Evo 4G. Using this for storage, mp3 files etc. I use Bitvise SSH / SFTP client on Windows, wanted something on the phone that would work with this. Installed this, set it up, all works great. This runs Android 4 series which allows read / write access to the SD card. My understanding is newer versions of Android restrict access to the SD card, kind of defeats the purpose of having the storage but whatever. I suspect that is why many commenters are having trouble saving to the SD card, no issues at all in my case. Newer OS = less functionality. War is peace, etc etc. But great app here imo.
