The Night Sky™ for Android
If only the most important feature, the calibration of the sky tracking, actually worked. It's incredibly jerky and constantly seems to think that I'm facing the opposite direction than the one I'm actually facing. This makes it next to impossible to appreciate any of the other features. I had this app on my old phone (galaxy avant) and it worked great. I installed the updated version on my new phone (galaxy J7) recently and it's never worked properly.
I just bought it like 30 minutes ago, I wish it wasn't so sensitive, when I try to move it around & that I could turn off the sky calibration, as it's not as accurate. Overall, it does help find constellations & is helpful. i wish it showed other things like where the pleiades are, cause I'm sure I found them, I know the story, but confirmation would be nice.
Will go up and down but pops right back to south when I point at the Horizon... fix and will give 5*
LOVED this app but ever since the Samsung android update in my s7 edge, it no longer works. Everytime I try to open it, the app crashes, even tried redownloading and it still crashes. Can't use anymore.
It doesn't seem to know what direction I'm facing and doesn't track across the sky at all. What has happened, this used to be so good.
I used to love thid app. Was my go to everytime i needed to identify stars and planets..now it doesn't work at all, doesn't center one bit. Its worthless...uninstalling.
Terrible app.... Eveytime I touch the screen it goes to North and is jerky.... I must say the iPhone version is so much better
It does exactly what I want it to. Many people complain about the direction but it seems as good as any other compass app on my phone. I mostly use it with manual tracking.
Great app, love the floormat. Only bad thing is the tool buttons need to be a little bigger and a little bit more space between the buttons. Thank you
Calibration is completely off and has been for months. Can't zoom in to see something specific. Used to be my favourite app now it is unusable
Great music for night viewing. Sadly, the GPS are not correct. It said Im in USA meanwhile I actually in Indonesia.
Stopped using this app last year as it doesn't work. Just downloaded it again and it still doesn't. Just tried again on S7. Still doesn't work. Money back please?
Pure rubbish on my Samsung galaxy s7. Always shows South no matter direction it's pointed. Works only on iphone not Samsung.
I paid for this App that no longer functions at all ???
First app I've ever had that won't load up, errors every time.
The font on the map is unreadable. Can't zoom in.
Great app. Accurate. Pricey add-ons. Battery hog.
It's nice. Thank you.
Awesome app
With the help of this app, I located Mars tonight and it was AWESOME! And I saw Jupiter and Saturn - I never could've picked that out before! I'm in awe and feeling very tiny right now. It's mind blowing...
It's fun to see the constellations move with the seasons and when I travel. Even in the city when I can't see the sky. Yeah, the music is kind of annoying. But just turn down your volume! Works great, no errors.
Used to like it, since latest version unable to use at all, pretty poor for paid version will not even open on Samsung Galaxy Note 4
What a disappointment. I saw this on a friend's iPhone and it rocked. Downloaded the $.99 version to my android phone. Tapped on a satellite and it sent the screen to somewhere else in the sky. Suggested I pay another $6.99 for the information upgrade, which I did. Then when I tapped on a planet, it suggested I should upgrade to the pro version, which I did, for an additional $2.49, which seems to have loaded an entirely different version making 2 versions on my phone, both buggy.
Just tried the latest upgrade (26th Nov 2015) and it still doesn't know where North (or any other direction) is. I have tried it on several Samsung devices with no success. This used to be a pretty good ap, but ruined by last few updates.
Stopped using this app last year as it doesn't work. Just downloaded it again and it still doesn't.
This used to be a great app, but with the latest version running on my Samsung Galaxy S6, I can barely make out the individual stars anymore and any screen touch makes the app completely lose track of where the phone is pointed.
I downloaded the most recent update and now can no longer access the info on satelites, rocket bodies etc., which were in the paid for version formerly. It's telling me to pay for the pro version to get the info, even tho i'd already paid to have it in my version.
Bought the pro versiom and cant even look at light pollution maps?
Bought it long ago and had fun with it. Updates broke it, no doubt to get you to upgrade for even more money. Wildly inaccurate and sluggish as hell. Avoid!
The new version only gives me an insufficient memory error when I try to install it. I know all the tricks to work around that error and have all the other apps I want installed OK but this one refuses to work. So my purchase is wasted.
It's what it says, trip on how many satellites are on your opposite hemisphere, your polar opposite staring through the earth
You buy the app.. then you have to buy different packs for different things you want to do.. can't even look up a specific object without buying a pack!
I had this on an old iphone and never paid for any "information packs." If I'd purchased pro, would it be free from microtransactions like that?
love it
Works great. Interesting, fun and perfect for making Uranus jokes. Love this app.
Will not start! Just downloaded paid for @1Mb/s but now says 'needs Internet connection'! Sticks on start screen so uninstalling! Note4@5.0 Seems bug present for months?
I just bought a new cell phone (Galaxy Note 4) and had all the apps transferred. Everything transferred properly except the NightSky. It asks to connect to the Internet, which I am. I also tried on cell service with no luck. What I find troubling is that there are dozens of other reviews with this same problem, but nothing seems to be happening at the other end.
Turned into garbage. The older version had annoying music, but at least it was useful. This one is laggy and inaccurate, doesn't know which way is north half of the time, unintuitive to use and no longer tells you anything about anything. What planet is that? What constellation? I don't know. It doesn't say. Boo. :(
Did not work on my android. Got message to connect to internet to view tutorial, in spite of strong Wi-Fi connection. Will try to get refund.
