IBM Doc Buddy for Android
I installed this app and immediately tried to download a component. I then tried to access the component and was rewarded with what I would call, a blank stare. By the name of the app I expect to be accessing a lot more than messages. I'm expecting access to documentation. Either give us access to the documentation or rename the app to something like IBM Message Buddy so we know what we're really getting. I dumped it like a hot rock. Useless to me!
(1) The components list is jumpy. (2) There is no easy unified place to see the status of all downloads. (3) Only downloaded message sets are searched, not the web itself. (4) There is no way to find out what component owns a particular message until you've downloaded it. (5) Googling a msgid is far easier. For more, see my IBMMAIN post of 12/02/16.
I've used it a lot and have loved the recent features.
Easy to use and fast searching for message information. A must have for any mainframer.
Needs z/VSE doc as well
I miss IBM LookAt
I feel bad giving this bad of a review but this app installs thousands of small files into a few folders. On my phone it made android's /system/bin/sdcard use a lot of CPU - my "OS Monitor" app reported it using 50% and more CPU for at least an hour after reboot. It really drained my battery, too. I am not certain but I'm pretty sure it maintained high CPU usage for days at a time. This app would do well to consolidate it's documents into fewer files to reduce the strain on the SDCard storage manager. (I waant to note that the app was installed on the internal phone storage, not an external SD Card. I think it would drain battery via high CPU wherever it is installed.) BTW, I never found a time I needed to look up IBM documentation with this app after having it installed for a few weeks. I am on Android 6.0 on an LG G3. D85130d.
All mainframe users can benefit from this.
