Three inTouch for Android
Really easy to set up & use. Really handy when no signal and need to keep on touch with your mobile number. Excellent app. Thank you for your reply it means alot to know that you guys are watching and reading the reviews it makes them worth doing. I love this app it has just saved my weekend !! I am somewhere with no signal and am waiting for a call ( from 3 mobile) about a contract phone. I didn't think that I was going to be able to recieve the call but now thanks to this app I can.
Whilst I try and use the app for when I have no reception, I keep forgetting that I need to go into it to see if I've got new texts or missed calls. For me to score this app higher, it'd definitely would have to be synced with the main incoming/missed/outgoing calls and same for texts. On multiple occasions I have not remembered too check this app and, therefore, not seen missed calls/voicemails /texts. Other than that, a good app to use when there's no reception but WiFi is available. Just hope that you're not as busy and forgetful as I am!
Had no end of issues getting this to work. Three tech help states it doesn't work with dual sim (I have 3 and EE sims in the handset). Despite allowing all permissions I had no joy at all but then went delving into the app details via the phone settings and in addition to all the permissions you need to allow the app to change system settings, this is further down on the app info page (all the are in the andriod settings not the actual app). And now it works fine.
Just switched to 3 and was delighted to find this app. Was with EE for years but since i dont have an EE phone i couldn't use their wifi calling. According to them, the only way to get around was to buy an EE phone. I chose the hidden option of saying goodbye haha. Anyways, for this app, will be great if the textmsg is more integrated with the normal textmsg app. i. e. When i send a text using inTouch, could the same msg appear in the regular app as well?
It needs the ability to choose the txt notification ringtone, the default one is far to quiet and doesn't ring for long enough, couple this with the fact that missed calls or txt aren't shown on the main icon means you have to constantly check to see if you've missed anything. It's not fit for purpose!!
Means I can still get texts & calls at my Mum's where reception is poor/non existent inside. It used to keep need re registering on the mobile network. Which wasn't handy when you had none! Seems to work a while lot better now & no re registering. Useful app.
With three having the lowest range of coverage in the country, I thought this app would be amazing. The fact of the matter is, it hardly works. It's main feature of wifi data coverage for your three number is very finicky. The app says mobile calling ready, but everytime someone calls it goes straight to voice-mail. I'm searching for a better app, and very soon a better mobile carrier.
As the title says but needs further development to solve issues. Audio quality is not good and I get a lot of feedback. Deleting certain messages does not seem to work consistently and it takes a long time to connect. However as our village has appalling reception on all networks this is a very good alternative but could be superb with a little more work on some areas.
Does what it says on the tin. Would've gave it 4 or 5 stars if it weren't for its constant need to keep activating itself or registering. I don't have any signal in my flat, I have registered and activated you umpteen times but when I am at home and need you to work you start playing up. Why can't it have some sort of code that you punch in and be done with it.
App is great for its main application and has been very useful when in buildings where there is no signal (on any network). Like others, I am disappointed that received texts are not copied into the phone's main messaging app, which leaves gaps in threads. Also, notifications can't be customised, so the app plays the default notification sound rather than the messaging sound.
It's pretty good and does the job. But it asks you if you want it to run in the background, and if you say no, it keeps asking you. Apparently it's important that it is - so why ask? I don't mind it running in the background, but I don't want it to ignore battery optimisations - other applications on my phone seem to do fine without asking for that.
It was fantastic when I first downloaded it and set it up. Made a couple of calls sent some Txt messages thought it was fantastic. It no longer works have uninstalled, reinstalled still not working. Any ideas. Does it only work on 4G. My phone is 3G only but it worked perfect for one day only. Disappointing.
Want to use this whilst the network is down again. But you need the network to configure the app. So when you really need it, it won't work. Also, does it really need all those permissions? Having access to my contacts might make using the app easier, but it doesn't *need* it. Give me the choice. Aaand it won't install on some of our phones AT ALL (probably a preview build restriction?)
I really enjoy this app, I live on the ground floor of a block of buildings, and have poor reception, so this ends up being incredibly helpful a lot of the time. Phone calls come through very clearly, with very little static. My one complaint would be that if it is turned on it forces the phone to use the wifi, rather than giving a choice. Overall it is very useful however.
I didn't want to have to install another App on my phone, but I wish I'd installed this one earlier. When there's no mobile signal available, as seems quite common, you can keep 'in touch'; if you have a Wi-fi connection.
Even worse on new phone . Usually cuts out but if not sound volume low and often distorted , calls often interrupted by beeping. Do you guys produce any decent apps? Update. Got the stock answer to the above, reinstall , *yawn*. Unsurprisingly just the same if not worse, stupid beeping warbling noises .PLEASE don't reply saying it is a weak signal, I am next to the hub.
The app is great if you have poor reception at home like i do. Really excellent. I did however find that whilst its runningvthe battery pretty much didnt charge at all. I have to turn it off when i dont want to make a call or arent expecting one.
I don't have reception at home so this is useful but I wish it would work in background to push SMS to messenger or at least share them into that app so you can read them in there. Edit: Three have replied (good service) saying it should share texts but I followed their instructions and it does not. i have stock everything on a nexus 5x with nothing rooted etc., So should be least likely to have problems. also now I don't get notification sounds when a sms arrives so don't notice when I get one.
It's a very useful app for making phone calls when there's no mobile signal and WiFi is available. Sadly, if you let it handle messages as well as calls, it keeps some of them separate from your SMS message store. Three have been promising to fix this for a long time but there's still no sign of it.
Excellent app to get signal (over wi-fi) when there's no service. Thanks to it I can finally receive standard calls and text when I'm home, which is a blackspot. The only issue is that it saves text only on the app rather then on the phone's message default app. Fix this for 5 stars.
Could have better integration but in general its a good app. The alternative is not getting any calls or text messages so that on its own is great. Biggest issue is having to be on the 3 network to set up the app. You've downloaded the app because you can't get a signal but need a signal to use the app!
Use this because I get no signal at home, and helps there. It really needs to be able to migrate a call to and from WiFi because of I start a call near home/work I can't walk away without being cut off. Similarly if a call starts at home on a weak signal then flips to WiFi. FAQ says they're working on it but it's been a while.
Good app, ideal since I've moved to a village in the middle of nowhere where I can't get a signal, but can still keep in touch with everyone at home! Only problem I've found is that there is sometimes a delay in receiving messages, or they just don't come through at all.
The annoying bleep when I use this app is very distracting. It won't record my calls either in my call recorder app. Despite asking for permission to record calls. It has no facility for it. Useful when things are desperate though. Sorry 3 the noises are not removable. There is nowhere t to disable the bleep.
3 Ap is OK, usually get sound / signal issues, complaints of poor voice transmission. Annoying that messages are stored in 3 as several times I have tried to find messages and not remembered to check there as well! Handy in my office where there is poor or no phone signal
I have no signal in my house but have broadband so 3 in touch is ideal. The only problem is I have to make every phone call twice getting an error message at the 1st attempt and resend every text before I can get through, which can be very annoying. I guess I have to be grateful I can still use my phone at home.
I mostly use this app at my mum's house where mobile reception is poor. However when I was there today and she was out, she called me but couldn't hear me. Only when I went back to normal mobile reception could she hear me. So clearly the app is at fault, and if she can't hear me while I'm using it, then it's useless. EDIT: After receiving advice from Three, deleting and reinstalling the app has fixed the issue … not that such measures should be necessary.
Not a great substitute for poor reception. I live in a black out area, so I am offered this app free, wow I think. Little did I know my very fast broadband makes no difference to this inferior app. I either get a low reception bleep and it cuts off or can't hear anything at all.
I love that I can use my phone in my home where I get no signal. I have 2 issues though, #1 is that it is not obvious at all that you have to toggle the network you want to use for wifi calling on, hidden in the menus. This should be much more transparent. #2 is there is an annoying woop woop woop sound that plays every now and again, I wish you could turn this off.
Not sure why three is wasting its customer time . Any imcomingcall can't hear me, and have to call them back again after couple try they can hear me. Handset is ok,broadband is finer optic 30meg, tested it with two more hand set same result. Shame such a big company like three can't produce an actual working app. Update (17/11/2016) : one year on and still no changes, shows Three don't care about their customers experience. Shame
Update: Following connection problems, was requested by 3 to try app again. It is still hopeless. I now find texts received are not grouped correctly (bank sms added to ones from 3 etc). Have taken screen dumps and deleted app AGAIN. Recent update is NOT an improvement. App still not showing if working or not (no GREEN light). Come on Three, you MUST be able to do better than this!!!
Really useful app, improved a lot since first launched. Make sure you enable new wifi networks for calling within the app, or it won't work. They could probably make that more visible.
App functionally works. Since latest update, even if option to mute low signal tone is unchecked, there's still an annoying sound running throughout the phone call. That has been my only gripe with the app so far.
Since recent update the transfer from android phone dialer to 3 in touch dialer doesn't automatically happen. Used to be able to call direct from phone book and if wifi calling was needed it would swap to 3 in touch app. Called customer services and asked to raise a comment here. Removed and reinstalled app and reset permissions too.
Useful for calls but really wish I could send pics and recently been having major issues receiving sms that have been split into multiple messages. E.g. some people's sms apps split lengthy messages into multiple. I'm regularly only receiving 1 out of 3 parts and its pretty random which part I receive.
This app is handy in principle but my text messages don't sync properly with my phone's message like. Sometimes text messages only show here even when I do have a phone signal. Disabling messages in the app means I can no longer see the ones that only appear here. Annoying....
I can text fine but it's impossible to have a spoken conversation over wi-fi, people just can't hear what I'm saying. I can just about make out what they are saying when I cancel out all the gaps, I can listen to voicemail and just about get the message. Worth having but only for text messages.
Works well at home where phone network is variable. Two issues, (1) have to reactivate the app every week or two. (2) Caller name on incoming call is too small, better if larger text like default dialler.
Always crashing. Multiples of the same message sent/received. Shouldn't need to rely an app to text/call. Wish I'd picked a different provider. 3 network quality is shocking. Can't even make a phone call in my house, need to walk down the road.

Much improved since I tried this previously. Calls and texts work very well over WiFi. This app is now a great benefit of using 3. Hope it allows me to make calls free over WiFi when abroad! Some minor improvements would get this 5 stars... 1. Wish it synced incoming texts and missed call list with the native apps. I don't like having to look in two places. 2. Show the number of new unread messages on its icon. 3. Swipe to accept incoming call uses the opposite swipe direction to native app.
