If you’re a digital camera or gadget enthusiast you are probably aware that it can be difficult to know if your SD card is actually authentic. Counterfeit memory cards have now spread throughout the marketplace. Packaging on the cards can make it difficult to distinguish a fake SD card from the real thing.
SD Insight is a free, fast and easy to use application that you use on your cell phone. Within seconds the application reads the technical details from your SD card and displays the information in an easy to understand format.
***COMPATIBILITY NOTICE: It has come to our attention that SD Insight is not compatible with some Android 7.0+ handsets. In addition, some Android tablets use USB SD card readers which are also not compatible with SD Insight.
In the world of SD cards, the brand visible on the card is often a vendor that labels other people’s chips with it’s own branding. For example, a major SD card brand such as Kingston will place their brand on SD cards that are actually made by others such as Toshiba or SanDisk. SD Insight displays the actual manufacturer not the vendor’s brand.
It is not possible for SD Insight to be aware of every possible SD card manufacturer – as such, it is possible that the manufacturer will be displayed as “Unknown”. A reading of “Uknown” does not necessarily mean that the SD card is fake, but rather that the card is made by a brand or manufacturer that is not currently identified in the SD Insight app. We are continuing working to improve the database of manufacturers in the SD Insight app, and announce our software release updates to our Twitter account at @sd_insight.
Using SD Insight, you can also view technical details about the internal eMMC and SDIO devices in your cell phone.

Didn't work for me, it recognizes all SD cards I checked on my phone as SanDisk, failed to detect fake 32gb SD card was really 8gb, so for me not so good application, one star for you.

Works on a couple of my devices and gives me some low level detail that's cool. My unbranded card isn't actually unbranded and the cheap Samsung I nabbed as a flip of the coin is genuine. I couldn't check out my cards on my Sony Z5 Premium 7.0 due to the scenario explained in detail by their FAQ. If I didn't have a spare Android device, half of the people at work do so I could have tried by asking them.

Excellent app had issues with my new Samsung sd card... this app instantly proved my card to be fake so now got my money back and awaiting a new card.. will check that one too.. I highly recommend this app to be sure your getting what your paying for when buying sd cards..

How do you know if it is really displaying accurate sd card info? I have a lexar sd card the old 633x colored blue and black... When I use your app it says Barun Electronics? Is my card fake? And under MMC it says Toshiba like on your screenshots from your app. I believe your app is just mining data from vulnerable user's on GOOGLE and the easily tricked. Prove otherwise. I want to thank you so much for whoever created this "security" app. These non genuine makers create files that has a way to go through a hidden backdoor to hack into my phone without your knowledge. Please protect yourself from these fake factories who make this micro SDcards. Before you use any micro SD card, download this app first and scan it before you use it. It's going to protect you from these micro SD card scams. And yes, I will be the first to purchase the Pro version of this to really scan for anything that is corrupted from a micro SD card. I would recommend this app for friends, family and you care about. Because of this, I am getting my money back and peace of mind.

Identified my external SD Card Sandisk 64 GB and internal memory correctly. The model name displayed is a bit generic or inaccurate. Some more info about the card like speed class would be helpful (if it can be read or detected from the device) ....
