HTC Transfer Tool for Android
Doesn't work anymore. Worked the first time when transferring data from a HTC Desire 601 to a HTC Desire Eye. But now transferring from HTC Desire Eye to another (same phone type but different device) it doesn't work. Sits on the searching page and doesn't move. Constantly turns my WiFi on and off on both devices. Edit: saw someone say to try a hotspot and that didn't work either. I tried both way around.
I've upgraded from the m8 to the m10 and I used the transfer tool as I've previously done in the past and which worked great as it transferred everything and put everything in the right place. But now it only transfers certain things and all the apps you previously had on you original phone doesn't come across like it did in the past. Very disappointing and very frustrating.
This program sucks plainly compared to Samsung Smart Switch - I lost all my audio recordings when I switched from s6 to htc 10! The program should 100% transfer contents to new htc phone but my audio recordings were not transfered, and I had already factory reset my s6 when I knew about this hence was not able to get my recordings back. Very, very disappointed!
I had real problems getting this to work. The problem was phones would not link. The reason is the phones try and link to another network, not each other. FIX is easy. Switch off mobile data in settings. Then either go somewhere where no recognised Wi-Fi or switch your home network off (so phones have nothing to connect to). Then Settings, WiFi, and using the three dots, go to Wi-Fi direct. After a minute the phones will recognise each other. Allow them to connect. Transfer app then works fine.
Cannot be used on HTC U Ultra. Just got my new ultra, cannot connect to the old HTC 10, so can't get old data transferred from my HTC 10. Tried to connect the other way round and was successful. What's going on? Can you plz help?
From old 9m to new 9m. Have tried everything written by suggestions here and other forums. Will keep trying different approaches. May just uploaded everything to a cloud and download to new phone. Sad sigh....
Had a horrible experience just now. I finally got it working just enough that it succeeded in deleting all my photos. Yuck! What an awful interface. I just didn't understand that when it said "Click to add or remove files on your device" it meant it would delete them all. Bummer!
I had so much trouble from transferring htcm9 to htc10. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work, internet would cut out on both phones when trying to retrieve number. Where as, all my previous HTC transfers were very easy to do. Finally figured out that the WiFi hot spot that kept getting switched on , on the HTC10 was key to getting the code. Had to switch the hotspot 'on', on the old handset for the code to finally appear. Hallelujah it worked. Should be put in instructions clearly though.
It does the absolute bare minimum. I've had to basically do all the hard yards myself anyway, like downloading apps again, linking all my logins and accounts, changing settings to how I had my old phone set up and some of the accounts are being stupid to reconnect. Lucky it transferred 8month+ old messages though. And this was even just transferring from a HTC One m8 to m9. I'd hate to be changing phone manufacturers.
I've had HTC phones for a while now and have recently upgraded from the m8 to the m10. Every other upgrade has been flawless with all my data transferred seamlessly but this time its made a right mess of it all. Can't understand why they've lost the plot and appear to be going backwards! very poor HTC!!!
Halfway through the transfer from one m9 to the next m9 the app crashed on my new phone and then disappeared totally from the phone. Now I'm left with half my messages transferred and no contacts. Incredibly frustrating, I'd rather have none at all then random bits and pieces. None of these apps work right. Should have stuck with apple
Instructions are simple. But what's the point of simplicity when the app can't carry out it's few functions. Phones are obviously connected but the app lacks the ability to recognize it. Complete waste. Trash
I love HTC but I thought this app was pretty bad. Didn't transfer what was most important, that being, app data and messages. That's right not even messages. That's sad.
Love how it transfer text and all pictures too. The only down side is that you have to have the sim card in both phones and I only have 1 ... it can't load while connected to a hot spot or other wireless connection
Nice tool. Just did a full transfer from my HTC One (8) to a new HTC 10. Took awhile but not a single hitch. Sorry about the folks who are having trouble.
I used this to transit from my previous HTC phone to Butterfly 2. It went smooth. But now that I'm switching away to a new HTC, it doesn't show the PIN from the new phone. I tried uninstalling and re-installing. No luck :(
I use to be able to attach to my laptop and the phone automatically downloaded the pictures. I have no idea what happened but I can not get any pictures off my camera to my laptop pictures.
It's worked fine got lock screen and settings, but even though I choose to sync everything, it didn't transfer my apps. And when i downloaded my apps I had to change the settings to be the way I liked them manually.
It doesn't work on HTC 10. The menssage "Wi-fi connection failed" appears all times I try to transfer content from HTC M8 to HTC 10. Frustraiting!
Unless you have a fully working HTC phone to replace a fully working HTC phone, don't bother. Utterly and completely useless.
3 tries before it worked. Now you have lost my scribble notes during the transfer. How do you get them back to me???
It does not work. Every single time fails with "Cannot initialize transfer tool/Another backup application is running".
Frustrating there appears no way to transfer apps from an iPhone to HTC10!!! Why don't the software writers and the hardware manufacturers care about customers?>
This app will not work unless location is enabled on both devices. Also, it will NOT notify you that location must be enabled; the phones will simply be unable to connect.
Downloaded this from my phone 2 his, worked Awesome, Needless 2 say ♧☆The transfer of Hundreds of Songs, and photos, plus all Contacts went really Fast in Minutes without any Technical issues. !!!
Super easy to use! Plus, I thought it would only backup from my HTC phone that I had before this new one & a Kyocera, but it transferred everything off of all phones! Really helpful since this phone isn't TubeMate compatible, I can download music on the old phone and just transfer it to this one!
App wont let me input PIN! And my PIN is more than 4 characters long. Wtf.
No explanation of the process in the app, sends all data through your cell network without warning, and doesn't show the total amount that will be transferred. Better to transfer photos and music through a local computer.
Does not work. Tried transferring from HTC One (M7) to a HTC 10. WiFi connection keeps dropping for no apparent reason.
It's alright, 3rd HTC to use it with. I've lost plenty, and it comes in spurts(updates) I may occasionally regain something lost. Overall I have 80% of what I intended to transfer, so it was great for that!
Sees phone but won't connect to transfer anything. Wi-Fi is fine. Crappy app
I normally put off getting a new phone because I hate spending weeks getting my phone just how I like it. This did the job in just a few minutes!
Simple tool anyone can use. Much more safe than taking it to phone service provider. I have used this tool on all my HTC phones never losing any pictures, apps, messages,or anything else I might have on my phone. AMAZING AND QUICK. Thanks HTC.
I can not transfer from m8 to htc 10. After i chose what to be transferred, the transfer button doesnt get activated and it is pale so i can not touch it.
As other user s here have said, it does not connect and is of no use
Suck big time
It is not working at all. Keeps disconnecting when attempting to confirm transfer pin. Please fix.
Used to be good, now it's not worth bothering with, trsnsferd hardly anything from m8 to HTC10 having to do all manuly, far to much Google crap, wish never bought HTC10, it's poor overpriced
Backup & automatically restore apps to its previous state (yesterday-state) .

This seems like an easy way to grab *most* of my data from my old phone and onto a new one. I think there is some app-specific data that I'll have to move myself, but the basics like music, pictures, messages, etc seem to be transferring. It wasn't working at first. I needed to turn off cellular/mobile data on both phones before the old phone correctly connected to the new one. After that, smooth sailing.
