Calendarul pe stil vechi a ramas in uz in unele tari pana in secolul al XX-lea si mai este folosit inca de mai multe biserici nationale ortodoxe. Denumirea stil vechi este data prin opozitie fata de stilul nou care corespunde calendarului gregorian.
