Homeboy for Insteon Hub for Android
I would love to give this app a better review, but I've run it on a Note 4, then Nexus 5x, and now a Pixel XL - it takes a solid 3 to 4 minutes to populate the state of all my devices. When I trigger a control I get an error saying unable to communicate with the device (although the control does work). On top of that, 20 percent of the time when I launch the app it says 'device cannot be found'. I quit and restart and the devices appear. The I.F.H app may be clunky but it works more reliably than this one.
People complain a lot for an app they get to use for free. The developer is responsive and they put out regular updates lt it's much better than insteon own app.
Request for developer: add landscape mode please. Tablets need love too. I would support a paid version if it had IFTTT integration. Fast! Works with my lights perfectly. I just use the Insteon app to manage scheduling.
Insteon Outlets can have both bottom and top outlets controlled. This App doesn't support this and can only turn one on and off (can't choose)
Nice app, much better than the default app. It would be much better if the speedcache would be faster and if it had the ability to support widgets for control.
Garage door not shown in Homeboy but works fine in Hub
Love the ease of use and material design...Just missing a good widget for quick control of lights!
Worked once and quit.
Had issues with the original Insteon app this app instantly found all my devices and works perfectly
Great app, very fast
My X10 devices do not appear, but do with native Insteon app.
Not all my devices appeared. Even after several refreshes. Lacks complete functionality of normal app. No real advantage in using it.
This is so much better than the Insteon for Hub mess! Exactly what I needed.
Nothing for a newbie, I am more in the dark with this app than the insteon app. It didn't recognize my insteon door sensor. And it won't even download on my galaxy s5 running 5.0
Definitely a speed and UI improvement over the native insteon app but I'm looking forward to support for sensors, thermostat, I/O linc, and the ability to turn scenes off. Keep up the good work!
I'm an Android developer as well as Insteon Dev. I love the way this is heading! I would recommend a few things to make this the only Hub Remote but I plan to send a comprehensive email to you later.
Much faster and easier to use than the native Insteon app for Android. I think widgets would make this app incredibly better. I'm relatively new to Insteon and have yet to find a way to quickly control Insteon products from my home screen like I can for all my other home automation eco-systems...
Einstein would agree.. Insteon is a crappy software developer. Thanks HomeBoy
Great job so far! I would love to see widgets added. Also the ability to toggle lights on and off with a single tap. I'm going to start using this as my daily driver with the hope development continues!
I will be so happy when you add new types of devices to manage. Like camera and sensors. Thanks for not crashing. This is much faster than other apps also.
I'd give 5 stars if the device list contained a folder for each room. That would make it quicker/easier to pick the device that I want.
My X10 devices do not appear, but do with native Insteon app.
Actually works, compared to the official insteon app, enough to get a 5 in my book
Nice clean interface. What I'd really love (and what nobody else appears to be doing) is if this app had a widget that let me control scenes from my phone's home screen without having to launch into the app completely.
Clean, fast and solid. Would like to see scheduling added to feature list. Right now I schedule with the Insteon app but control things with Homeboy.
Only issue for me is there is not a way to view my cameras.
The login speed and execution of macros and devices is blazing fast next to Insteon's alternative.
It doesn't recognize my thermostat, which is what I want it for. This app doesn't crash though and I hope for better coverage of products soon, but understand the issues with Insteon not making things easy for any of us. Good try, will watch for updates!
Like the fact that I can trigger scenes to turn on, but hoping for functionality to then be able to quickly turn off all the items included in that scene (like the much more Android-device-finicky "Insteon for Hub" does.) I can make an "ON" and an "OFF' version of the settings for each scene as a workaround, but if the sloppy developers who made the official "I.f.H" app can manage to toggle the scene both ways, you guys can do it I'm sure. Cheering you on guys! Thanks for picking up the ball they dropped.
I like the layout and there is no delay waiting for status in the app. One nice enhancement would be to get the dual band outlets working so we can control both top and bottom outlet on Android. The Insteon app is missing this functionality as well. Keep up the good work and keep the enhancements coming.
Now I can control my home from within my home. Or from outside my home. Or on top of my home (should I ever decide to climb on my roof.)
Keep working on it. It is good, but no functionality for scenes yet. Also, would like to see more ability to customize the look. But a good start.

It's really no comparison. The big thing missing here is Android widgets- I should be able to control scenes/lights through widgets on my home screen. Other than that, I'm very happy with this
