*** PLEASE NOTE: While this app is still useful to many, it has not been updated in several years and I have no plans to update it in the near future. It works on most phones but as Android evolves some features are becoming difficult to use as intended. Specifically the menu button appears to be unsupported on some 5.1 devices and checkboxes have changed in such a way as to make them hard to check in Android 4.4.4. If anyone has an interest in taking over development of this app, please contact me at support@holyhog.com.

Facebook, LinkedIn and other non-gmail users: This app may not allow you to manipulate contacts in non-gmail accounts. Download the free version of Contact Remover and try deleting a contact to see if it will work for you. Different phones work differently and I can't possibly test them all.
NOTE: Users who are reporting lost contacts may be merging or moving contacts into accounts that don't allow editing outside their own app (like Facebook, LinkedIn and perhaps Skype). Contact Remover Plus happily writes to these accounts but when the account is synced the data Contact Remover Plus wrote is deleted by the sync process. If you want to move or merge into a non-GMail account, please test it first with the Copy function, then sync and make sure the copied data is still there.
Duplicate finder can match on name (including nicknames), full or partial phone number (like without area code), and email address. You control what gets merged and what doesn't. Use this to safely remove duplicates without losing data.

[1] - A user has reported running out of memory using the Find Duplicates function on a phone with 20,000 contacts. While the app is reasonably efficient in memory use now, it cannot currently handle a database of that size. The app has been tested with 10,000 contacts, though the exact content of the contacts and the number of duplicates can also affect memory use. Your milage may vary. This note probably applies to about 2 people on the planet who have that many contacts ;-)
[2] Access to SIM contacts is not handled uniformly on all phones. If accessing SIM contacts is important to you, please try that right away and refund if it fails. I'm working on better SIM support.

It appears that Nougat has fixed the app. I'd pretty much given up on it, but figured I'd load it onto my new LG V20. Menu functionality that I'd lost under Marshmallow has returned!

I purchased Contact Remover Plus - and I like it, and it does what it says... but I have one issue that I need help with. It appears that the category / label for the contact doesn't sync back to Google Contacts after a "move". I tried moving contacts from one gmail account to another - and it works great, except I lose the category label. On the phone itself (S3), the categories appear ok in the destination gmail account - but don't sync back to gmail.

When deleting contacts from SIM app crashes and removes SIM as an option from the list. Work around is to uninstall and reinstall the app which is not great. Finally I recommend you rename the app to Contact Manager.

Linkedin app created about 20-50 duplicate contact entries for 425 ppl on my nexus. First of all why the f*** did it do that?! BUT THIS APP FIXED IT IN ONE SMOOTH STROKE. DONE.

I have more than 5000 contacts, and things have been out of control with each contact has appeared 3,4 or even 6,7 times in the contact list. It's the result of sync options I chose for yahoo, google, twitter, facebook, linkedin...accounts. What a nightmare! I tried many applications to get rid of it, but nothing worked, this one did, and did smartly. I only wish it could be faster.

Tried other apps to deal with duplicates and ended up in a complete mess. Had started to do the job manually but had another look and found this one. Gives you complete control and shows you what it's going to do so you can only blame yourself if you get it wrong!

Did everything I needed it to do.Merge, move accross accounts, dedup all accounts. Saved me my exchange account had grown to 23000. This allowed me to trim the duplicates, etc. Thank you very much!

Functionally it is just what you need to move contacts between accounts and your phone, find duplicates and merge etc. But the design needs a lot of improvement. devs... Finding the menu button was confusing, just add one you can see. Get rid of the ugly black and design something nice.

I had over 9000 contacts that were in various states of duplication. Some contacts were duplicated up to 8 times. Many contacts were in multiple states after switching from Blackberry to Android and using Outlook. This app reduced my contacts to 1300. Since switching to Android I have tried a number of duplicate apps and none even come close to this one. I am uncertain why other developers create apps that find duplicates but don't delete or merge automatically. Well worth the money. Thanks. I haven't had a correct contact database in 3 years.

Samsung Galaxy s5. I've used the Pro version to merge my contacts on two previous phones. The app worked fantastic... I loved it. I would have given it 5 stars but I got my Galaxy s5 and there's no menu button. I uninstalled/reinstalled and still nothing. I can't get at Merge and I have 1500 contacts I need to fix. Please fix. I had a disk crash and had to restore from a backup. There were up to eight copies per Contact. This app did and incredible job of cleaning up the duplicates. It thankfully does not repeat fields which was my biggest fear.

After loading ap I can't find the menu button so I can't merge contacts. This was the whole purpose of purchasing this product. It may be the version of android I'm running. 4.4.4. Please update program to support. Also please give an option somewhere to request help.

After setting up my lollipop phone, i found my contacts list had 6+ copies of some of my contacts since it had merged all of the contacts from corporate outlook, two gmail accounts, facebook, waze and whatsapp. I turned off contact sync for all but my corporate outlook account, but that didn't remove the extra contacts. This app let me remove all of my gmail, facebook, waze, and whatsapp contacts in about 5 minutes - leaving me with just one copy of every contact! Awesome timesaver.

This app is very helpful in cleaning up all the duplicate entries that crop up in Contacts, especially when dealing with the Waze app. I probably have deleted several thousand contacts that came from Waze

Doesn't give an option to delete duplicates. I've merged a few times and although it isn't foolproof (it even days so in the app) somehow over the years it's left me with over 10,000 contacts. Ten THOUSAND. I'd rather have an option to delete rather than merge.

It took me almost 3 days to delete, merge and clean my 5000 duplicates!!! I really suggest to move first all your contacts (with the embedded copy/move feature) to your Gmail account, then start to delete your contacts. Then start the merge process first by phone numbers and then by name. It is tedious but is worth it, at the end you won't have any obnoxious duplicates!!! Thanks again to the developer.

Normally i don't take the time to leave these comments but this App just saved me so much hassle and time that i figured i should spare a second. I have been plagued by duplicate contact's for some time now and not wanted to take the time to do it all by hand. This app just found and merged over 100 duplicate contacts all saved by different accounts like face book, Google, and my SIM card in less then 5minutes. Like the title says.... im very impressed!! My Bluetooth phone book in my car has limit of 300. My Facebook account blew this up. I really only need about 30 numbers there. Now it works again. Ahhh. Relief.

I was having so many multiple contacts. Espescially the same contact was listing as 'Phone contact' as well as 'Gmail contact'. With this app, its a breeze to 'move' (i.e. copy and delete) all 'Phone contacts' to 'Gmail contacts' and then merge. 5***** app ! ~~~~~~~~EDIT:: This app works as advertised. But it has one major problem in my opinion:- If you have complicated contact fields ...like notes, birthdays, company names, and other non-phone-number fields, and then merge two such complicated contacts, then the result is a contact card which has two such fields in your phone. Now, the phone contact list works properly, but the problem comes when you try to sync with 'Google Contacts'. It gave me this error: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" To solve this, I had to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Running select Contacts Storage and Clear Data. This cleared the "Contact Remover Plus" contacts data on my phone. The I had to sync with my 'Google contacts' data (which has many duplicates). So basically i was back to where I started, i.e. square one.

Let me delete all the google contacts off my phone and keep my outlook contacts. Found duplicates and merged them easily. Worth the money just for saved time and because I hadn't found another way of getting rid of the google contacts that were saved on my phone before I could disable syncing that account since its my main google account.

I usually don't leave reviews because I am too picky and nothing seems to satisfy me. This APP on the other hand worked 100% for what I needed it to do. Turned my 5000 Verizon duplicated contacts into 643 and kept/merged everything I needed. I didn't have time to check all of the contacts to see if I wanted to change the settings on some. I trusted the APP, and it worked flawlessly.

Complicated to use and deleted ALL my contacts. Doesn't do exactly what it infers it does, ie identify and delete multiples. Uninstalling. Refund please? Would give no stars if possible.

It is good for multiple duplicates but import and export to other accounts leaves a lot to be desired. Also no way to save cleaned list as csv file. If merge not used carefully will result in lots of missing information . Couldn't weed out email only entries. Still , overall useful.
