VLC Remote Free

So this app is free, but if I want to actually use it I have to buy the set up software? And I'm supposed to trust you with my E-mail address? you want to earn trust honestly publish the manual set up instructions and let us decide for ourselves if we want to buy the convenience. But no, either I buy or you spam my E-mail? If only Jesus would show up with his promised hail of bullets and nuclear bombs to destroy everyone we wouldn't have this problem. Give me an honest product.

If you use VLC media player to watch movies on your television, this program is absolutely awesome. You just put the app on your phone, and then download the companion to your computer, pair them and boom. Works great. I would give this app six stars if I could. Fantastic!

Didn't love the idea of downloading a file on my computer to make it work, but tried another app and it didn't work so gave this a try but still can't find my PC. Tomroubleshooting can't help either

For some reason app asks you to install additional soft on you desktop. You can skip this step, and configure vlc by yourself

Really great app. But can't play all youtube videos . Is it vlc problem or something else

Works almost like it's advertised to. Was only able to see two out of the three systems on the network. Had to connect them all via IP address, as none would connect with the pairing codes. Other than that, it plays the movies perfectly..

Works perfectly (Kitkat + Fedora 24) and simple to set up thanks to the website

I wish it could find computers by name, so dhcp didn't stop it working.

App works great. Sometimes the automatic setup doesn't work but set your comp IP statically and problem solved.

Not sure if it's the app updates now, or the latest Ubuntu updates, but it won't find my computer. When manually added, it says something is running that isn't Vlc?!? Just about had it with this thing, but if there's a fix I still love it, when it's working.

UPDATE Feb 2016: On 2 different phones the app stopped recognizing VLC. It worked one minute and after a Windows 10 update vlc was no longer being noticed. I've checked/restarted everything and readded the computer. The app will recognize the computer but not the VLC. Other than this the app is great! Although it would be nice if the lock screen widget could skip forward/back the few seconds so you don't have to open the phone.

Windows 10 updated today. Seems the update f$#ked up this app. Oh well. *update* App still not working. It finds my computer, but says vlc is not running, while I'm staring at vlc playing a movie. Run vlc setup, says it completed successfully and this app still says vlc is not running. Nothing I do changes anything. Read the "help", did as was suggested, including dl'ing bonjour. To no avail. Seems as though this app is toast. Avoid it.

Can't get it to run on phone for more than 3 seconds, let alone link to PC. (galaxy note 4 rooted, stock rom). Have un/reinstalled and rebooted phone.

It is quite strange to see such a low overall rating for this application which works great, has good functionality, so not have intrgrated ads and only difference from Pro version is folder browsing functionality. This is a truly good and helpful application. Maybe it needs some design improvements but even now this software here is pretty comfortable and useful.

Functionality is all included and it works flawlessly. As developers, that's as we care about but there's no ignoring the UI element. I would buy this app if it had a modern UI

Very clean, and useful app with great user interface.... And all function.... They just miss the Bluetooth function which should be there as keeping wifi and back light on for hours... Keeps draning battery.... So I request the developers to include both wifi and Bluetooth connection modes in this app... Else it's the best VLC app in Google app world.....

I use setup helper. Windows 10 x64.

Once you install the app on your phone and the setup app on your PC/Mac/Linux etc, it works quickly and intuitively

Does not properly configure VLC. When I go to my localhost it works but it says access violation when I go to my local IP and the app doesn't work. Firewall is fine.

Overal a really great app, but before the update there was the scrolling thing. I seriously need it back. That was the most amazing thing on it. The visuals are amazing. Amazing app and visuals after the update except that one thing.

I used the dial type controls more than any other feature of this and as such it's become much less useful and convenient ever since the latest build.

But this apps error for some issues in trouble shooting other works its really great option for vlcc

Even after completed serverside setup. Crashed once out of 3 invokes.

I love this app and find it very useful! However it would be nice to see the artist of the song being played next to the song title. (I have a playlist of +50 CDs on random play so manually scrolling to the current song is not practical).
