Keen Home Smart Vent

Vents say one thing app says another. Bottom line, cold rooms are still cold. Waste of hard earned money. They need to do better.

App crashed 3 times just trying to use it. The app also crashed every single time I tried to reset password via forgot password. This feels like a very alpha product rushed to market to iterate on at the expense of customer satisfaction using the user base as quality acceptance testing. I'm surprised it even has a 2 star rating. I do hope the company takes customer service seriously and gets feedback to the engineering team to fix their app before they lose their user base and someone else comes to market with a fully baked product.

In Dante's circles of hell. First Circle is Limbo - Clients wait for upgrades and a product that works. Time is wasted getting each vent to connect to the bridge. Losing connection and starting over. Fourth Circle is Greed - a high priced product which keeps prompting you to sell to friends and family. An App which advertises filters. Emails for fund raising on a Company with a product which is only living up to 25% of its potential. Attempting to raise millions on 34 reviews and 1000 downloads. The eighth circle is Fr**d, - panders, seducers, barrators, falsifiers, .....

Can't reset my password. I have tried on a Google Pixel XL, a Samsung Galaxy S7 and an LG G4...the app crashes every time on every phone. Can't do anything. 1-star.

Does not work. Awful customer service. Then they ask you to refer others....yeah right.

Was quick and easy to setup and get going, haven't run into any of the problems others seem to have.

Currently I have 13 Keen Smart Vents and hope they work with next update due late summer. It's a hair pulling experience, control is manual, and does not work as designed. Schedule does not work and has no customizable options, you are stuck with 4, 6 hour fixed periods and only options are on, off. It doesn't work. Vents loose com with keen smart bridge, smart bridge looses com with keen network and when that happens your vents are stuck where they are. I truly hope they are able to fix the problems.

Forget the smart thermostat features... When I change the open % manually via app, it should adjust. 1 star until they get their tech together. And stop emailing asking me to recommend to friends. Would be embarassed to recommend right now.

Originally, I would have only given this app and the product 3 stars, but after working with support on a few issues, I've decided to give the product and app 5 stars. It's been about 10 degrees in my area for the past few days and I've been able to set my thermostat to a lower temperature without any complaints from the wife and kids. I do recommend getting at least 2 smart hubs if you have a 2 story house with a finished basement though. The second smart hub can be used as a repeater.

App updated today. They seemed to add more features but the core functionality still isn't reliable. Also still can't find a way to tell what software version the hub is running. I wouldn't invest in product until all these bugs are worked out.

No temperature indicator, can't see temp of rooms with on board temp sensor. Batteries don't last long. Doesn't appear to be intuitive when desired room temp is met to open/close vents. Relies heavily on manual inputting. If I knew this before I bought them, I would have manually been changing the registers instead of buying 7 of these worthless things. Worthless. Worthless. Worthless.

Units constantly disconnecting from bridge.

Poorly designed app. Limited function that doesn't even work. Extremely buggy. I hope this improves.

Vents loose connection and stay static no dynamic temp. control with my Nest. Run into connectivity issues and no help from service.This system has potential but no breakthrough yet

F-ing garbage!

I'm having a problem where the vents connect to the hub but I'm not able to choose any of them. As a result the system doesn't work and I can't control any of them. I've spent a lot of time with their technical support before and we deleted my account and it work for a little while. Then I added one more vents and it all got screwed up. Pairing should be way more easier than it is and you should be able to see any of the events at any time in the application. If they get this fixed it'll be great.

Doesn't support 3 nests

Expensive unit that's data mining my network. Vents don't respond to phone app. Shows I closed them remotely and they remain open.

Customer support is poor at the best. Keen Home will not let me return their products

I have 8 vents and the Keen Hub/Bridge and also bought a Nest g3 thermostat. I was hoping to be able to set real temp setpoints for individual rooms using the Keen app or for the Vents to know my target temp by referencing the setpoint on the Nest, but it doesn't appear either is possible. The only capability you can do is assign a + or - number (1-5) per room. For ex +2 or - 3. All this does is put the vent in a static predetermined louver %. Time to make the vents move to achieve real temp control!

I waited over 6 months for these to be delivered, very cool and well worth the wait. If you do not have a nest thermostat the auto temp control function doesn't seem to work as I had a Honeywell and was unable to use the auto feature in the smart vent app.

Will not open.

FAQ section doesn't work. Think I added a hub but can't find any vents. Can't remove or add additional hubs. Support is unresponsive.

Ran into initial issues with the bridge not working correctly and having to contact keen support. After talking with Nate he was able to get the bridge issue resolved. We talked about how the app FAQ section needed info for the bridge which he indicated was coming soon. The company is new and I expect the app to get better overtime. I'll update my post in a few days now that I can actually test out the vents.

Got my bridge and everything appears to work fine. Now what we need is automatic door closing hardware that will work in conjunction with the smart vents.

I am having the same issues that most are with my phone not being able to connect to the bridge. Now let's see if tech support will get this fixed.

Add your rooms first, the pair the vent to the room. App looks smooth otherwise. Can't wait to see it in action.

Ehh, I have a hard time with rating this. I don't dislike the app, I think for what it is supposed to do its setup in a way to do that. The problems I have seen is my smart hub keeps disconnecting so I can never control my vents. Just before writing this review the vents I had setup for the kitchen just disappeared. I'll be glad to change this review, but as of right now, I cannot use it for what it was intended for.

Looking forward to bug fixes.

Disappointed with the lack of sensor data from paired vents (real time or historical). Hopefully improves with later updates. Nest pairing seems irrelevant at this point. Again hope that improves with updates.

Can't seem to get all 4 of my smart vents to pair with my Bridge simultaneously. I've gotten as far as 3 at once. Also I did suceed in pairing 2 together. That left me with only three controls. (2 separate, and one controlling 2 vents). I'm about to download the app. now my 4th. Try. Maybe 4th. time is the charm. More to come.

Bridge is still not available, so the app is useless.

App can't even successfully show the full list of rooms that I input. It starts out showing only about half of the 15 rooms in the list, and then as I'm looking at the list it jarringly changes the items in the list. Most of the time I can't even find the room I want to edit. Then, if I do find the room and open it up to edit it, a lot of the time it kicks me back to the room list. This app is nearly impossible to use and needs a lot of help just to do basic app tasks that shouldn't be difficult at all.
