مقدمة:
جاء ابن كثير في عصر نشط فيه التأليف في كل فن من فنون الدراسات الدينية والعربية، ومن الطبعي أن يكون التأليف في ميدان السيرة النبوية مواكبا لهذا النشاط الذي استقى موارده ونصوصه من الثروة الضخمة من الكتب والآراء والروايات التي سجلها العلماء والمحدثون والحفاظ قبل ذلك العصر.
لقد شهد القرن الثامن الهجري في مصر والشام المملوكيتين، ظهور عدة مؤلفين في مجال السيرة النبوية، أخرجوا مؤلفاتهم في هذا الفن على نحو مفرد أو ضمن مؤلف موسوعي كبير.
ومن هؤلاء المؤلفين ""عبد المؤمن بن خلف الدمياطي"" (ت:705هـ) وله كتاب: ""المختصر في سيرة سيد البشر""، وكتاب ""أسماء المهاجرين الذين أخرجوا من ديارهم""(1)، وشيخ ابن كثير كمال الدين بن الزملكاني (ت:627هـ).
