Speech Timer

I recommend it all the time to other Toastmasters.

I intend to use this in the pulpit to help me not to preach too long. Love the customizable feature. It's going to help a lot. Unfortunately I can't get it to save my last custom timer setting. It would be even greater if I could select an option for a flashing yellow/orange and faster flashing red indicator. Maybe a 2 quick vibration indicating the yellow/orange and 4 quick vibrations indicating red as another option. Great job on this app.

Best for Toastmasters

This timer works great, but can't be interrupted by other app. If other application is starting or being used, then this app stops. I wonder if this can be fixed. Thank...

Barely more useful than Green, Yellow, and Red cards. There are at least 2 other apps that have this capability and all are as easy or easier to use. BUT MORE IMPORTANT... This timer is USELESS for Toastmaster speech contests!!! For ALL speech contests, there is no way to indicate silent periods with reverse sequence of RED and GREEN indicators. For the Evaluation Contest, there is no capability to time the "WORK PERIOD" so the Toastmaster knows when to wrap up contestant interviews and introduce the first contestant. Now comes the kicker. When I mentioned these shortcomings to Michael Dobbins, his reply to my email was, "I don't care." That's not my favorite Toastmaster reply. A better option is to get the Toastmaster Timer from Vivek Bhusal. His response was that he'd look into improving his timer.

Much easier to use than the official TI app. My only issue is that if I receive a call during a speech, it pauses the timer.

Almost perfect. Custom time settings are appreciated. It would be nice if more of the settings were custom as my club rarely if ever needs the longer time settings. One feature request: I'm aware that I can activate sound when the colors change, but I want an optional chime only when the grace period expires. One minor tweak: instead of the white card color running during the speech, make it default to black. This would be less distracting and would save battery life since black pixels draw no power. I'm aware I can customize the color black myself, but then I can't see the clock. Also, a circular color lamp as used in Timer4TM app would be more visually appealing than simply recoloring the entire background, and would also draw less power. Then you could show the clock (white or yellow numbers against dark background at edge of lamp) Finally, instead of a menu button, simplify it and put the "preferences" and "about" buttons right on the screen.

Would like the ability to list speakers and speech title's and then save their times so they can be read out

Just need the ability to resize the time display and whether or not to display the first letter of the color.

Love this app! Helpful for rehearsing, even better for when you are timer. This spells out each type of thing that might be timed and their color limits. Allows you to pay attention in meetings, because it's a "set it and forget it". Only feature request would be have a pause button (maybe rehearsal mode). Sometimes just loosing my place when practicing and I need to pause and not start over..because time is always ticking. - Moto X. KitKat.

I love how I can pull it up and have time cards right at my fingertips.

Good interface,. Useful. Saving and mailing key to app

A visitor from another club at one of my clubs showed me this. I downloaded it that day. Then my other club had an opening for Timer at its next meeting. I didn't usually volunteer for this role, but I couldn't wait to use this app! And it did help me fulfill the requirements of the Timer role. I can't wait to be Timer again. Regina Litman DTM

Love this app, makes for a smooth meeting, very accurate and easy to use.

Does what it says on the tin

I always end up overshooting or speaking too less and was searching for a tool that would tell me when the particular time limit came because I dont see the flags when I speak. This was perfect for that purpose because it had sound and vibration to alert me during a speech. Also the timings are classified and put as one click buttons making life a lot easier. Still a custom timer option would be nice. Another suggestion - duration of the vibration should be given as an option. Its too brief. If I intend to put it in my pocket, I would hardly feel it when I speak. Please add that and it would be closer to perfection.

Great app with super simple operation! Love it!

If you set it up so it works in landscape, I will give you 5 stars.

Aside from the benefits for me as a Toastmaster, I will use this app for public speeches were I don't have the benefit of a timing light and I don't want to keep looking at my watch. The Custom Speech feature lets me set up, practice and then present in my given time frame.

As a member of Toastmsters, this is excellent. I don't need timing lights and placards and I don't need to constantly look at a stopwatch to know when to turn on the lights. This is a great app!

Love this app, have been using it for a long time with great success. One thing - can the yellow light be optionally changed to orange? I find it too close to green when looking from a distance. Cheers.

Kudos for the volume button controls! But of course now I have another problem: I have a stand that puts my phone in landscape mode. But in this app's fixed landscape mode, the volume buttons are then at the bottom and can't be reached! Also all text is upside down. Suggest to either implement auto-rotate, or another fixed landscape mode, for example "reversed landscape".

This TM timer seems to work best compared to other timer apps. I like the sound notification; discreet and non-distracting yet enough to grab attention. Other than the upside down landscape mode, the disqualifier for Table Topics should be 15 i/o 30 secs. Can be fixed manually but would be great if Mr. Dobbin can fix it permanently.

Usefull

This app takes care of stop watch as well as allotted time for any particular type of speach in any Toastmasters session or contest. However one improvement is required to use this app as timer card. It should display the total time only after pressing the stop button. Since after flashing the red card timer shows it to the speaker till the end of the speach and speaker will be disqualified if he / she crosses the 30 seconds grace period. Showing the total time is not allowed as it helps to stop quickly.
