About HEXMAPS
HEXMAPS is a geographic data manipulation and sharing tool for mobile devices (smart phones and tablets) based on the Android operating system. This application is compatible with various locally or remotely stored geographic data formats which integrates seamlessly with web-based map services.
Services that have already been integrated by the application include Open Street Maps, Yahoo Maps, Bing Maps, as well as the map services of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources – IBAMA, of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE, among others.
The main differential of this application is that it allows users to take photographs with the device's camera, georeference and store them in HEXMAPS: in other words, photographs may be opened directly on the map and the exact coordinates of the location determined.
For researchers, businesses, students in the field, or for those who want register their trips, HEXMAPS provides an excellent solution so that data are not lost and the exact location of the photograph is not forgotten. All the information is stored on the map, and only a click is needed to visualize the needed data.
