About PassMaster

I wrote this for me, it does exactly what I need it do. I know there are other password database keepers in Play but they really didn't do what I wanted out of such an app, or they had a bunch of features I didn't need. This one does exactly what I need it to do. Its not very polished, but its functional and what I really need in such an app. Also- apologies for the name but its the only thing I could find that was available.

Also, absolutely free. I don't intend this for sale, just use it, or don't.

I've kept the API requirements low (API 8+) but the app uses encryption to store the passwords, decrypting them when they are displayed, and that requires some computing power. When selecting a "site" (an entry stored in PassMaster is called a "site" regardless of if its a web site, a personal device, bank account, etc) to display its details there is a period of time in which the password for that site is decrypted, and that process can take time on older machines.

Operation is simple; when first installed enter the master password you want to use to encrypt the information in PassMaster. You will then be prompted the that password again; enter it. You will then be taken BACK to the blue login screen, just press the OK button. Passmaster is now ready for you to add sites to your list. DO NOT forget that master password, if you do you will need to wipe and reinstall it, and your previously saved passwords will be GONE. There is no recovery, so do not forget your master password.

When adding a site, there is a button for generating a complex, cryptographically secure, password for the site you are adding with a variable number of characters but is over 10. You can use this generated password, or create your own, but I highly recommend you use this feature, this is one of the main reasons I created PassMaster, so I could create complex, individual passwords for services rather than doing what I've been doing; using the same one in my head over and over again. This is very bad practice, and hackers are getting good at cracking passwords. Your best bet is to use a unique, complicated one for every service or data repository that you use. This is where PassMaster can really help.

This is a first version, if I do it I may add a thread to do the decryption, the ability to export a site list with the pass words unencrypted, maybe a few other bells and whistles. May also think about integrating it with FireFox and the GPG keyring system, but those are not my concerns with this first version. All I wanted was a safe place to keep my passwords.

Store any password of any type in PassMaster. Lock combinations, check account numbers, etc.

It does exactly what I need it to do too. It would be nice if puppy pic (preferably a French Bulldog) could pop up while I wait for the data to unscramble itself.
