Dr. McDougall Mobile Cookbook for Android
I love the concept of this app but the app itself functions terrible. I am only able to view a few recipes at a time and then it just has trouble loading. Also the favorites section doesn't work. Isee peole mention that over a year ago in the reviews and it still doesn't work properly. This app should not cost $4.00 for how poorly it functions.
I was very excited to purchase this app, and the recipes are just awesome, however I am very disappointed that the Shopping List is totally blank. This should not happen in an app that is not free. Please fix this!
I love the recipes I've gotten for free online and in the books. This app has no pics and some of the recipes (ie oatmeal casserole) give instructions that don't add up - as if you should know which ingredients are intended for the body of the dish and which are for the sauce. I don't want to guess. Only rating 3 bc it's easier than surfing recipes, they promise more recipes soon, and I believe in the McDougall plan.
Love the app, although it needs some work. I'm confident improvements will be made and until then it's nice to have the recipes on my phone when I'm shopping. I will add that 5th star once things are running smoothly.
Love even browsing at it let alone so handy when cooking wfpd. Full of wisdom in the cooking
Her recipes are Wonderful!
Nice recepe
Awesome
I am very happy the GREAT couple Dr. John and Mary McDougall created this. Love the recipes at my fingertips. The app is great at creating a shopping list from within the recipe. Once you buy the item you can remove it from your shopping list. This is a very cool feature. The search function searches for the search word in the recipe text as well as the title. This can be either good or bad depending what you are trying to do. The favorites only brings up the recipe for the last item. Otherwise is gives you an error message that it shouldn't. This needs to be fixed to make favorites useful. Keep adding recipes to it please...
I really enjoy using this app so far and really like the recipes and tips offered, but I'm having the same issue with not being able to display my favorites. Every time I try I get a network connection error telling me to 'retry'. I hope this gets fixed soon because otherwise it's great!
Why have a favorites if it doesn't work? These are wonderful recipes; better than Forks Over Knives. However, NONE of my favorites will load. It brings up a notice that it won't load and to check my internet. But it loads perfectly if I just pull up a recipe from the recipe list. To do that I must remember the name of the recipe go and re-search for it before it will come up. So much for saving time. Apparently this has been a problem for almost ONE YEAR. Get with the program McDougals!!!! Pls fix this app.
Favorites list doesn't work! I'd give it five stars if that bug is fixed soon. Also, if you add the ability to edit the shopping list that would be great! Otherwise very good recipes and information.

The food is great but the favorite menu is wonky. It will says there is no internet connection when I click on a recipe. Other than that good app

Just uploaded it to my android iPhone and it's looking great! I don't notice problems like white spaces mentioned by other reviewers. I love having the recipes with me when I go grocery shopping. Especially the soups, which are my favorites in the cookbooks. Shopping list is a little buggy, they should work on that. Doesn't react well to clicks.
I expected more from an app with McDougall's name on it. It's low quality. Looks like it was made by an amateur.

Great recipes but favourites doesn't work and it bugs out on finding recipes quite a lot. Please update.
Otherwise the huge database of awesome food is well-done
Love how I can type an ingredient and get healthy recipes!
Wonderful app, very useful recipes to try. Worked great on my tablet. Would like to make a few suggestion to improve it. Pictures with the recipes would be great. Just giving a visual guide to what the dish should look like. It would be great if you could store your or share your own recipes. Finally, would be even more useful to have a menu option of health concern topics like on the website, showing the related articles. Also would be good to have the latest newsletter within the app.
Can't access the shopping list while at the grocery store. I'm sitting in my house next to the wireless and can't access the favorites....this should work on data or wireless. Sucks, I was hoping to like it more, first glance loved it.
When I first grabbed this app I rated it 3 but after using it for a while I have to say, it is a lot worse than that. For starters, adding things to your shopping list often takes multiple clicks because you can't hit the buttons and to make that worse you have to add each ingredient individually which takes forever. Then you go to your shopping list and you see the same ingredient listed multiple times, terrible for shopping. Finally you try to make a meal and the recipes don't make any sense. Terrible!
Has trouble loading anything, so can't tell what this actually does. Too glitchy.
This could be an awesome app! However it needs much work. Most of the time I can't access my favorites. It tells me that I don't have an internet connection. Sometimes it tells me this when checking out regular recipes on the app. Please fix.
Mcdougall cookbook
Good information but Dr. McDougall should ask for his money back from the app creator.
I bought this app primarily to make shopping easier and while it does help, it leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, when adding ingredients to your shopping list you often have to click the button 3 or 4 times to get it to work (checkboxes need to be bigger). Also there is no way to tell it to add all ingredients, so this problem is compounded by the fact that you have to manually select each ingredient (needs an an 'add all' button). These problems mean that adding one meal can easily require something like 30 or 40 taps. If these problems were fixed the app would be great, but until they are, I can't be so generous.
Love the recipes. I'm using a Galaxy 4 and cannot see the full titles in the lists. They are cut off at the bottom. Also there is some overlap of the messages in the green boxes with the recipe titles. I think it's a bit better after the update but still needs work on appearance. I'd love some photos too. Overall I'm delighted to have it with me and look forward to the updates. I'd definitely rate it higher with better readability.
Amazing App. Delicious healthy recipes and very easy to add recipes to your shopping list. Genius.
The app is EXACTLY what I originally bought. Some sections, such as "Shopping Trip", are totally blank, and the actual recipes in some sections, like the soups mostly (but not all of them) list themselves twice! I'm going to try and find a way to display Android apps in windows, or try and find a more thorough way to scrub my copy of the app from my phone before I reinstall it. As it is right now, it will show me a few McDougall recipes on my phone. It is not the beautiful presentation I would expect, and the blank sections are scariest of all. I will report back if I get anything to change.

I never buy anything but I had to get this, it's more than just a recipe book, it is full of great tips. If you scan a recipe and don't have an ingredient, you can conveniently tap it and it will add to a shopping list. If you are a starchaholic, this recipe book is for you. Don't forget, cut the fats, pile the starch, enjoy the life. Worth every penny for me.
there are no soup recipes! at least none found at a quick glance. I was hoping for some of the soups found in his book of the 300 recipes. so...a little disappointed about this. otherwise, it's great.
I bought this hoping to get a copy of the McDougall approved non-fat packaged food list. Will you please enhance the app. with this feature soon?

I love this app! I would definitely give it five stars if it had an optional to compile a few recipes to a list to separate them from the huge list for easy access. Like if I could long press on a recipe and it gave an option to "send to 'what's for dinner' folder" and I could access that from the main menu. It would make meal planning more stream lined. I really love this app though. So many good recipes. I haven't gone much deeper than those yet.
